Mike you need to definitely invest in a nice engine assembly stand. They rotate and hold the cases secure making it so much easier to work on. You wont be worried about holding it down keeping it from sliding around. Get one and after you use it a bit tell me where improvements can be made. I want to start building stands and selling them!
I agree with you. The reason I don't use one is because most people don't have one or don't want to buy one for just one engine build. I like to do my tutorials in a way that most people will be able to do it themselves 🤘
👍 Micheal Sabo way to go man breaking that assembly process and processing of putting those engine parts and transmission back into place as one complete unit.
Hey Mike I’d like to see a full engine build video on the blaster in the future I’ve owned several and always wanted to build one too the max to see what kinda power they could make!
I'm curious why? Unless it's a platform that has issues with sheering keys, I've always done this and never had a problem, but I understand I can still be wrong.
Its a rule to never lube a tapered shaft, it will never tighten and will cause sheared keys. The taper needs to bite and lock the on the shaft . Oil and grease act as a spacer .
I appreciate the info. I am going to further research this. I've been anti-seizing keyed flywheels for about a decade and have never had a sheered key. I mate the tapered surfaces and torque my flywheel nut, maybe that's why. Regardless, just because I haven't had a failure doesn't mean I'm right, so I am researching this.
It's A really good recommendation for stock engine's rebuild with ported heads on them. It keeps carbon build up out of the cylinder's and cleans out the exhaust systems and pipes to.
“Just a overall pain in the ass”. 😂 apart of the process love the videos man. The way you make these video and the time and detail and information diplayed kills everyone else doing these videos. Just amazing
This is a great set of videos! I am starting a Tri-Z build myself because of them. Hope it turns out as well as yours did. Who did you use to re-sleeve the cylinder?
Bro.love your workman your vids...but you need to make some sort of holder clamp etc for these motors so there not rolling around like a basket ball always when doing these torque ups
Sorry Mike, I couldn't watch your last video. I figure if I don't see something like that, it doesn't happen. PSN's parts just magically appear. I never liked those crank-puller-inners. Seems like it would make the main bearings unhappy. Also, there's a chance of denting the crankcase surface. The old crank in the freezer/heat gun to the bearings method is my go to. I figure Yamaha, or any other manufacturer, intended those tab washers to be used, so I do as they say. I dislike plastic impellers. I REALLY dislike plastic gears. Interesting. I wondered what that large hole was above the primary gear in the RH crankcase half, as well as the pan handle area in the same spot on the clutch cover. Then it hit me like a sack of hammers. Then I did some digging. The RH crank half of the 86 Tri Z is the same part number as the 83-87 YZ250s. The RH crankcase half of the Tri Z is the same part number as the 82-83 and 85-87 YZ250s. The clutch basket of the Tri Z is the same part number as the 83, 85, and 86 YZ250s. The clutch cover gasket of the Tri Z is the same part number as the 82-87 YZ250s. What does this all mean? In theory, take an 83, 85, or 86 YZ250 primary gear, 86 Tri Z crank, matching year 82-85 YZ250 top end (I think the 84-85 might be able to use the Tri Z head, modified with a fuel pump impulse fitting the the right rear transfer port, and I'm not sure if the Tri Z intake can be used) and governor assemblies, and an 83-87 YZ250 clutch cover (to have a skilled machinist copy and modify your existing Tri Z clutch cover to use the 82-85 governor), and put them together. Bam. Exhaust valve Tri Z. Get your bottom end back and probably more top end than even the stage 2 mods. I can do more digging and looking at parts to see if this could be made to work if anyone is interested. Another good build Mike!👍
I hope your just relaxing because of the holidays because we need continues video drops dude lol jk dude you have earned the right to relax might be a good time for you to drop the 660 engine build video for some content. Merry Christmas to you and your family and I appreciate the video.

Hey Mike I just wanna let you know that I play your videos even when I don't have time to watch. Like this morning while getting ready for work I played this vid. I truly enjoy your content and the quality craftsmanship that you put in. And merry Christmas 🎅
Dude that's a major compliment and helps me with the youtuhe algorithm. Watch time is very important, so thank you for the kind words and for taking the effort to support me by playing my videos even when you don't have the time to watch them; merry Christmas to you as well!
On the honda. the transmission bearing with the seal is to let oil in on one side and blocks the other side witch throws the oil though a hole that puches it into the transmission working as an oil pump. Hope I wrote that were it makes since.
Thank you for watching my TRI-Z engine build video! All chapters are listed in the description to hop to any specific place you may want to see 🤘
This man is a sport quad legend.
Haha, thank you for saying that man 🤘

Why not build a functioning prototype and send it to him to use and abuse first hand?!
I agree with you. The reason I don't use one is because most people don't have one or don't want to buy one for just one engine build. I like to do my tutorials in a way that most people will be able to do it themselves 🤘

Very good work! As a 40 year bike builder, happy to have found your channel!

Impact Driver for both install and Disassemble! Cheap and Very important!

Hell ya this will definitely help people out thank you
Thank you for always supporting Dave, time for you to build a TRI-Z
@MichaelSabo I could never come close to your level in a build bro props
Bro.love your workman your vids...but you need to make some sort of holder clamp etc for these motors so there not rolling around like a basket ball always when doing these torque ups

At 1:12:00 during the ring end check swear I seen a crack in the sleeve
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
WHAT BE IT TRAZ
So exciting 🙌 ❤
As exciting as an engine build can be 😂
Where do you buy your bearing and seals from?
Usually Rocky Mountain ATV or ebay/amazon.
Im right on time, you rock man🤟🏼
Hey boss who sleeved your cylinder??
Have you ever had any experence with putting grease on a graphite gasket? Seems like the graphite gasket needs to be dry so they seal.
Very nice but I personally liked your “quadzilla” banshee better
Is it okay to use 2t oil as asembly lube for like berings

YOU BETTER DO A FULL, EVERYTHING PERFECT LTZ 400
Good stuff!!!!
Hey if my balencer gear punch holes don’t line up what happens?
Did anyone else notice that the cylinder looked to have a large crack in it may want to go back and look at that
MR SABO WE NEED ANOTHER VET VIDEO PLZZ!!!
Whats the mustard for?
Hey buddy i live nearby you and i seen that you weld, could you weld an aluminum case for me? No one wants to touch it
I always thought the tri z 250 was the same engine as the YZ 250
1986 was a 6speed transmission
Let’s gooooo
Sick video check out black cloud customs he does the same stuff
The cylinder look’s cracked I don’t know if it’s the video or what butt
Noice, as usuall
Michelle can you pls rebuild my bike pls I have a 1999 Kawasaki kx125 2 stroke, bring her back to life pls
Merry Christmas Mike From My Family To Yours.
Keep On Rockn Out Your Builds.
Dr. Quad.
Crazy they can build these engines but fuck up so bad on the paper manual books. 😂.
Second 🦾
You need invest in a engine stand
Honestly don’t care about a 3 wheel bike want you to post something about the corvette honestly way more interesting that a stupid tri z
1st
I like to you cam lube on all internals to make sure everything is properly lubed during assembly
If you have a metal lathe you can make a crank tool very easy
On the honda. the transmission bearing with the seal is to let oil in on one side and blocks the other side witch throws the oil though a hole that puches it into the transmission working as an oil pump. Hope I wrote that were it makes since.
Or to torque any bolts you can use a tie-down strap and ratchet it down to the bench
Mike what happened to the Corvette content? Did it break your 💔 lol
Why does Michael Sabo have a Fila shoe box zip tied to the ceiling of his shop 🤔🤷🏼♂️🤣🤣🤣
