    Molasses is the byproduct when refining sugarcane into sugar! Most rums are distilled from molasses, except for some styles, notably Rhum Agricole which is distilled from sugar cane juice. Cachaça is also a sugar cane distillate.

    To borrow from another great channel, “fight the fear of missing out”. Two years into my journey and having made too many overpriced buys, I must admit the struggle with “want to get that” still exists. But, you two, and a few other tubers I have come to trust, help me tremendously. The whiskey industry is still testing the market to see how much they can wring out of us, and hopefully as a group we can learn to pass on inflated prices for average and above average, but not excellent, product. I will write this again, thank you Kurt, and Trent, appreciate your work very much.

      Then even more cringy is the stuff locked up at 1k$ that retails for 60 or 70. It too far, to have no one enjoy it ever is even more snobby. I love 101 and makers mark regular. Woodford regular is a let down. But knob creek 9 at 35$ is fire. Searched for some wheated line ups and rebel 100 came is second place, it's a 20$ bottle it beat a lots of 80$ + bottles. Overpriced just needs to never be bought. That's it. Love me bourbon junkies and others doing the blinds. or tier list.

    Nice review! Around me this is 300.00 and up! The $10 per year only works when it’s close and sounds good, but on so many bottles it doesn’t line up. Russell’s 10(30.00), Eagle Rare 10yr (35.00), Knob Creek 9(30.00), Bulliet 10yr(40.00), McKenna 10yr (50.00), and many others. Cheers! Drywall video would be fun to watch!

    This video made me think one of your Friday blinds should be entirely based on price. Instead of blinding several different known bottles, blind a $30-40 bottle, a $50-75 bottle, a $75-125 bottle, and a >$125 bottle. Pick 3 or 4 bottles in each price category and let the ladies pick the final mix.

    Molasses is found naturally in sugar beet and sugar cane plants and is a co-product of sugar refining. During the refining process, it is separated from the sugar crystals by spinning the sugar in a centrifuge. The first spin produces light molasses, while later spins produce darker molasses

    • @jacksmith2315
      @jacksmith2315 8 месяцев назад

      Since it is the byproduct of refining a product, you have to do something to something to get it, doesnt that mean its not found naturally? Like honey and spring water are natural and dont have to do anything to get them. Just because it comes from a natual product, doesnt mean it is a natural product.

    I actually like this bottle. Im happy i didnt spend $300 for it the first time i seen it, i ended up winning it in a raffle for $125. Im sure if i had any of the previous higher age stated bottles it would be a disappointment, but its good. Comparing it to rebel 10yr which is $100-110, i think i like this better. Ill have to blind them. From the jump i wasnt expecting much from it being 8yr 100proof, and not a huge heaven hill fan, but im super happy it doesnt have that typical heaven hill nutty flavor. My first pour was actually an oak bomb. The second a few days later wasnt as much oak. The notes in the finish are the best part, but unfortunately dont last very long. I actually get a really nice confectionery sugar flavor in it. Its a good bottle if you've never had one of the older age stated to compare it to. Im not disappointed with spending $125 for it.

    A lot of that MSRP You're paying for is the bottle itself.
    And I've never had a 19-year-old or older bourbon that was very good. 13 to 15 is the absolute max before it just starts getting gross.

    I wanted to like bourbon, but I've been price gated out of almost everything. Now I find enjoyment in squeezing value out of lesser known brands before Buffalo Trace owns everything and lets everything artificially inflate.

      Buffalo Trace products are actually not that expensive, it's just that they are in short supply so everyone resells them for crazy prices. I believe they have been doing a massive production increase so this should eventually ease. For me the sweet spot with bourbon is $30 to $65, with the occasional special bottle up to $100 or so.

      @@PeteQuadWhat do you consider worth 100 dollars? Maybe an Eagle Rare 17?

      @@MalleusSemperVictor only if it tastes good. I was ok with the nulu pick slb did as it was different and good enough. I went through a Bardstown Bourbon bottle that I think was worth $100. I have the regular Eagle Rare which is good but I'm not sure if I will get it again even at MSRP. So basically for me it depends on taste and being different from the rest of my collection.

    The Silent & Baby Boomer style Spirits should be the source, the path , focus, and keepsake of the loyal process. "If it aint broke", well...+ changing whiskey or adding ambiance turns the spirit into a cocktail, not my great grandfather's spirit.
