How to get rid of them: Mess around with them talking very softly almost whispering. This will make them adjust the volume on their headset. After that use a air horn directly into your phone mic and tear up their eardrums.

I'm on the Do Not Call List. The Government offers that service. I asked many times nicely that they not call but doesn't work. You get as good as you give with me. I will gladly continue to blast you ear drums out.
My recommendation to you, don't call back and put my name on your do not call list.
What you did to that person is a criminal offence in most countries. I hope that person sees your post here, because youtube will give up your info in a heart beat if the police go after you. Google plus and many other sites will do the same.

The spokes lady from the CRTC is quick to tell everyone what a good a job they are doing, but slow at REALLY doing something about Telemarketers who violate the rules. Like almost all Government Bureaucrats her number one concern is her paycheck; as long as it's coming in, she couldn't care less if the agency is doing anything. These people believe the real job of the CRTC is to provide them with a job. Years ago during Lyndon Johnson's war on poverty a local "charitable" group in my home town was given a one million Dollar grant from the Federal Government to help elevate poverty in their community. After over a year had passed, the ten people who ran the "charity" had a nice office, but nothing else to show for the million dollars that had been spent. An audit showed some of the money had been spent on renting the furnished office, and the rest had been pocked by the "charity " workers. At their trial for theft of grant funds, the defendants claimed they had helped ten families get off welfare; THEIR ten families. They went to jail for a while, and when they got out they rejoined their families who had gone back on welfare. The CRTC is much like that "charitable" organization.

OK, May I educate some of you out there reading this. I worked as a telemarketer for a Vacuum Cleaner Company. SO here is how they call people.
If your number falls into 000-0000 up to 999-9999, your number will fall into this call list. It doesn't matter what your area code is, because it's all about the 000-000 to the 999-999. When I was working at that previous company, I called a Gentleman, who asked me how I got his number, as he was paying for it to be "PRIVATE". When I told him the truth and my call was finished, I noticed my Manager walking towards me. Instead of encouraging "Honesty", they actually asked me to pack up my desk and leave the building right that second! YES, I had been "FIRED" for being honest! I was at that job 2 hours! It was my first day. Scammers are obviously NOT honest people. Sad to say though, is that because of the list system for phone numbers for "telemarketers", I don't think even the CRTC can do a damn thing about it! At least you are educated a bit more now! Thanks for Reading!!

I live in an apartment building, got sick and tired of the calls so told them i lived in a 3000 square foot building they offer me a 20% discount. next day when the duct cleaning company drove by in the truck they slowed down seen the building and kept going. about an hour later they called to see how my service call went and I told the guy they slowed down seen I was in an apartment building and just kept going. The guy said if you live in an apartment building why did you tell us to come. I told him it was to waste their time just like they had been wasting mine for the last 2 years. Glad to say still have not had a call back from them since. now how to stop the dang CRA callers.

easy fix for the ip/telephone providers. They can give users the option of not accepting calls from foreign countries. They could stop this at the switching center. So the phone companies are choosing to do nothing.

Got an IRS scammer number. The guy's name was "John Conners."
I got him to block my number.
Since then I've setup a system where I can call them from a spoofed number.
Called a tech support scammer for 3 days straight, claiming I worked there and asking when the vending machine is going to be fixed.

When I "got to Walmart" he goes off to get the info for me to wire the money to. He gets back and I say "Johnny... we kinda got a situation here..." I told him I tried to rob the Walmart

conversation is concluded and the calling party hangs up the circuit remains connected so the caller cannot use the phone again. Maybe folks could tie up the
phone lines with this sly reprisal.

The best way to make a telemarketer stop calling you is to record their phone number and call them back over and over nonstop complaining until they block your number from their list. I did this with an extended warranty company that called me 2-3 times per day for at least 4 months, and I have never heard from them since, and it's been over 2 months !!!

  • @richrobinson1794
    @richrobinson1794 4 года назад +1

I am having HUGE success in stopping the telemarketers by doing credit card charge-backs. Instead of hanging up, opting to be removed from their list, or saying no, I have been purchasing their product or service with my credit card. Most large credit card providers notoriously sides with the consumer virtually 100% of the time for a charge dispute - especially when you haven't actually received/utilized the purchased service. Be sure to use a credit card provider that offers one-time credit card numbers (a.k.a virtual credit card numbers) such as Citibank. After a successful chargeback, the telemarketer will often call me back, sometimes threatening legal action. I simply tell them to go for it and I'll counter sue for Do-Not-Call Registry violations ($500-$1500 per incident). They always back off instantly. Too many chargebacks quickly leads to a merchant losing their ability to take credit card orders. I have drastically reduced, if not, eliminated most telemarketers. SPREAD THE WORD !

This happened in japan about 10 years ago , the problem lasted 2 months . They found the equivalent company in Japan of Via Communications , the telephone companies disclosed their addresses (no confidentiality in Japan when the police asks for it) and the police wiped them out in a week. 20 years time of jail for the CEO and his associates with no right of extradition and parole , all the employees got sacked and the ones who were not Japanese were sent back to their country with their visa cancelled and no right to ever re-enter Japan , even as tourists .
There is never been one telemarketing problem ever since , because after this incident , telemarketing is now illegal in Japan .
Besides in Japan , it is very easy to say who is not Japanese born and raised and anyone with a foreign accent calling a private house on behalf of a company will only hear the click of the person hanging up .
What you don't understand is that the CRTC is a company, and their aim is to make money , and if they solve the problem, they won't be making money anymore , so they blame the police and the police blames them and this just goes on and on and nowhere .

Morgan Olfursson Bingo. I'm from Finland 🇫🇮 and this thing would never work here. People are reserved and would automatically hang up when they hear it's some seller with a foreign accent.

      Hi neighbour,
I'm from Iceland ( I just lived in Japan for a long time) and i understand perfectly how Finnish people think, this is the same with Icelandic people and i think most Scandinavians . We don't waste our time with random people calling home , and unless you were born and raised in Iceland , Finland, Noway , Sweden or Denmark , there is no way , you can ever sound like a native and if you don't , nobody will trust you on the phone or buy anything you try to sell. I think this is a great advantage to live in countries where foreigners have a hard time learning or speaking the language , it creates a natural barrier and only people who really try to make the effort to learn the language have a chance to settle for a long time . Plus the weather alone in Scandinavia is enough to dissuade people .

It's very easy to get them to stop calling. Keep them on the line for as long as possible. Make up excuses, give them false details, addresses, cc info etc. You can find generators for all these things. If they hang up on you keep calling back and keep asking to be transferred to the person you were speaking to originally. Eventually they will rage at you and usually will block your number.

You do realise that it is not one guy who calls you? If you get bombarded by say 20 telemarketer calls, would you spend 15 minutes on each call frustrating them and spend 15*20= 300 minutes or 6 Hours/day doing this, or simply say "this number is on DNC" & hang up taking 5 seconds, 5*20=100 seconds >2 Minutes/day?

      *It's not strange at all.*
      1. Even if the authorities somehow could find them, they're in a completely different country far away which they have no jurisdiction over.
      2. To trace an IP address, it means first having to connect with your machine over the internet. This will only occur for the remote tech support scams, not any other phone call or telemarketing.
      3. Even with an IP address, it doesn't tell you the address where the person lives. Only the country, and _possibly_ the city, or nearby city.
      4. IP addresses can be routed through other servers such as VPNs, in which case the location that it links to would be completely invalid.

This exists because they know the CRTC can only fine local companies. Yes they easily could find them. But its a waste of resources if you cannot fine them and apply the law. So unless the feds have a deal with that country nothing will be done. Basically theres a big chance a few canadians own these telemarketing places off shore , then they sell the leads for whatever services to local companies here by a website or something.
