Especially when earlier in the song he talked about "sweet summertime". I'm 57 now, but man oh man did I love the sweet summertime! Autumn is indeed closin' in, but it is still sweet to experience those Indian summer days occasionally.
I'll take a Bob Seger song any time... incredible story teller with a groove. Bob always takes you way back to your youth in a wistful kind of way but the memories make you feel good. Lots of great songs, personal favourites include "Main Street" and "Like A Rock".
Seger was an Ann Arbor kid. I grew up in mid Michigan in the same era. Drive in’s, fall colors, winter closing in - his songs evoke many memories in a very good way. Want an upbeat hard driving rock tune? His first hit Rambling, Gambling Man or Kathmandu - they fit the bill. Want a rock ballad? Turn the Page. He has way too many pop classics to choose just one!
Super underrated cut from Seger, and a terrific classic from Tina Turner. How many rock legends try anything by Tina Turner? Bob Seger does and does it well, that’s who!
That’s my vote for personal favorites from Bob.. it’s got the funky groove that grabbed everyone’s attention at the party. One of the few tunes that I like way better than the original, though it’s a expertly crafted song from it’s inception.
Bob Seger charted 31 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. I was fortunate enough to see him during his farewell tour a few years ago and it was one of the best live shows I have ever been to. Loved the way he paid homage to all of the greats who have come and gone by displaying pictures of them on the stage backdrop. This man knows how to write a song that connects to your heart. He played hit after hit after hit, nobody ever sat down during his entire show. At one point I counted 11 musicians on stage. Just a phenominal evening for the memory banks. Enjoyed your reaction, TY.
The song is actually from 1976, the video was made in the 90s for his greatest hits album. You should listen to the version that doesn't fade out, I really don't like this version because of the fade out. The song actually comes to an end, it doesn't fade out, and the ending is one of the best moments in the entire song.
“Come To Poppa,” "Get Out Of Denver," "Her Strut," and "Katmandu" are all great songs. He does a killer version of "Nutbust City Limits," too. Great choice to start with, guys. As always, peace and respect to you both.
I saw Bob several times over the years - always a killer show. When they hit the slow spot in this song all the lights would go out, with just a couple of tight spots on the slowly revolving mirror ball above - the audience adrift in a field of stars - everyone quiet until the song kicked back in - and BAM! what a release. The song Hollywood Nights is a kick-ass piece of R&R.
Bob has one of the most iconic emotional voices and biggest hits over the past 40 something years! Try reacting to Main Street, Old Time Rock and Roll, from The movieRisky Business,Against The Wind, Like a Rock, We’ve Got Tonight,Rock and Roll Never Forgets, and Turn The Page, just to name a few! Bob is a legend among legends!
I’m 65, the internet really changed how easy it is access to info about anything. I’m still learning about favorite artists and the song meanings. It’s a good time to be alive. ❤️
Bob Seger is from Detroit area and his band had probably 10 major hits. Some of his music has been turned into Ford Truck commercials (Like a Rock) and in movies like Tom Cruise's Risky Business (Old Time Rock and Roll)....killer gravel voice, working man lyrics- sort of like a Northern version of Country music or blues
"With Autumn closin' in..." F*ck. Me. That's even deeper than it looks on the page or sounds to the ear. Bob Seger is one of the greatest rock voices of the American Experience, and absolutely deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as his fellow poets Bruce Springsteen, John Cougar Melloncamp, John Fogerty and Bob Dylan.
NO ONE can express the loss of youth, vitality, innocence and freedom from obligation like Bob Seger. Throw "Like a Rock" and "Roll Me Away" in with "Night Moves" and you have the Holy Trinity of Melancholy Rock.
This man's a definite hitmaker. One of my favorites. There are so many awesome songs of his. Can't wait for y'all to hear more . You will love Come to Poppa and Her Strut.
I'm 61 years old and it was just about 8 years ago that it hit me like a hammer what this song is really about. The stages of life. As you get older you hear the thunder and how far off you wonder. You are wondering when the end will come.
James, I'm 71 and you just enlightened me. Sometimes we just love singing along, not analyzing it until we get older and take a NEW listen w/these Reactors. Thanks✌🏼
Another great record and reaction--you and your fans continue to delight. In case you haven't noticed, I love pondering and interpreting lyrics. Here, I notice how before the break, Seger sings: "Oh, the wonder. Felt the lightning, and waited on the thunder" Then the music turns contemplative, and Seger sings: "I woke last night to the sound of thunder. How far off I sat and wondered"' Is that the thunder he was waiting for, a reminder that those days have passed him by, or both? Thanks all, for so much delight. Peace.
Oh my hometown boy every year in Michigan he was a must see, and I was shocked that the country took awhile to catch up ,beautiful loser, and like a rock, heavy music all of or great
Great to see a new generation appreciate the legendary Bob Seger, the the Capital execs heard night moves for the first time they said " This is a career making song"
@@davidbooth7778 very true. I’m sure each of us have their favorites. For me, it’s Bob Seger; his songs just hit home for me. That’s why this music is so great, there’s something for everyone.
I love all of Bob's songs! Every one, but my favorite feel good, put a smile on your face and dancing song is Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight. It's just a FUN song! You'll enjoy that one alot!
My favorite Bob Seger song, and one of my favorite all-time songs period! He is America's storyteller. Bob Dylan, who is a Bob Seger fan, was being a guest DJ on the radio one time and he went to play a Bob Seger song, talking about Seger before starting the song. He described Seger thus: "A lot of people like to call Bob Seger the poor man's Bruce Springsteen; I prefer to think of Bruce Springsteen as the rich man's Bob Seger." Another fun fact, the background singers were a spur of the moment idea, so they were three local girls called in.
'Like a Rock'.......I associated it for so long with the truck commercial, that I sort of got tired of it. But now.....I love his official video. It's GREAT. You need to check out the video.
getting a piece was the first part of the song, when the song slows down he is years and years older and is reflecting on his youth but now is facing old age and death thus the lyrics "with autumn closing in" this song is deep.
🎸💯 "Night Moves" is such a cool vibe‼🔥 After all these years, Bob Seger is STILL one of my most favorite performers EVER‼What a storyteller‼Right⁉️☮ ❤ 🎶
Bob Seger is one of the greatest American singer songwriters to ever live! His Night Move, Nine Tonight, Stranger In Town and Against the Wind albums!! EVERY SINGLE song on all those albums are outstanding! That is not counting all the other outstanding songs off his other albums.
As a child of the 60’s & 70’s. I was in JHS when this album dropped. We all had it. But I thought I knew what he was talking about. But cmon now, you never been in your car. Jamming to your radio. Ain’t it funny how the Night Moves. Bob was dropping some knowledge on us. Shit I was in my 20’s. When that line hit me crystal clear. And if you stop and think about it. Music is just so powerful. This is a classic. And it wasn’t written for a 14 year old stoner. Oh no that’s knowledge. Love you both. Peace 🙏
62 years old now and it's still like the 1st time hearing it every time. Chills & goosebumps...... Bob had a voice and style like no other band out there, grew up south of Detroit so he was always on our turntable.
Bob Seger is one of those 'familiar' voices. You might not THINK you've heard him- until the music plays. He's been around a LONG TIME, son of famous Folk singer/song writer Pete Seger. So music runs in the family.👍🏻Bob has quite a few hits. Like this one, you will say "I think I've heard this before" to several of his songs. Honest Rock+Roll. Nice choice!
Great tune from a Detroit Son. My house is on the side of a hill looking over the valley I own in Up-State N.Y. near Cooperstown. SO... I have two JBL 12 inch speakers mounted outside facing the valley. Sometimes I turn them on. There is only one neighbor 1/4 mile away, occasionally he'll call and tell me he liked the tune I was playing. this is one of those tunes he likes as much as everyone else.
What makes reactions great is exposes so many to so much great music they may have never heard...more and more folks are discovering so much amazing music! And seeing someone react to hearing a great song for the 1st time!!
You guys nailed it regarding Bob's voice. He has has that soothing sound and can switch into that rasp, edgier sound really well. I love the draw down and slight pause near the end before he brings back the reprise. He uses that to great effect on "Turn the Page" as well. Another must-listen song from Seger.

Some of my favorite BOB SEGER songs: "Fire Lake" "Like A Rock" "Roll Me Away" "Tryin' To Live My Life Without You" "Feel Like A Number" "Sunspot Baby" "Rock & Roll Never Forgets"
Great Reaction guys 😊 "Like a rock" is another great Bob Seger song, we used to here the beginning of it on Chevrolet commercials, during the football season. ❤😊
Yeah, I always liked that line. "I used her, she used me but neither one cared...We were gettin' our share.....Workin' on our night moves...Tryin' to lose the awkward teenage blues." Incredibly relatable.
Bob Segar is one of the most cool normal superstar in the industry...I live in a little city named Ortonville north of Detroit...he use to come in to a restaurant/bar called Bullfrogs...the dude is sooo genuine love him and try Turn the page, main street, fire down blow, ect......and his live album was one of the best live albums ever and oh by the way he a Michigan homegrown boy

"Turn the Page" is another great song by Seger, about being a musician on tour. Awesome lyrics.

The importance of Bob Seger on American rock music cannot be overstated.
Bob Seger...classy, yes. Gritty, yes. Genius, YES!
His Live Bullet is one of all-time great live albums. Bob's cover of Ike & Tina, "Nutbush City Limits" is legit.
Super underrated cut from Seger, and a terrific classic from Tina Turner. How many rock legends try anything by Tina Turner? Bob Seger does and does it well, that’s who!
I've Been Working, and Bo Didley are my favorite covers from that album.
The other live album, Nine Tonight, is great also.
Get out of Denver is a must
