I was going to say the same. I can't believe they didn't comment on that fire drum beat. Just fantastic and it kept the song moving at a galloping pace that just never stopped...
David Teegarden laid down one track, then overdubbed another track on top of that. It makes it sound like there's 2 drummers. You can tell where every other snare hit is slightly out of time. It was an awesome feature for the song's beat.
I think alot of young people who like R&B would like Bob Seger. They should give him a chance. He has such a soulful voice and like the guys said, his stories pull you in. I think a lot of people can identify with Bob’s lyrics in his songs. ❤
What else is there to say about the great Bob Seger, that we all haven't said many times before? A staple of 70s Rock music, and a great storyteller. Glad I grew up listening to 60s and 70s Classic Rock. Throw in that Motown sound, and some R&B as well. We were spoiled. Tanks guys!
Dusty, you hit the nail on the head.. it was the apex of quality, quantity along with variety.. 60s and 70s, the two greatest decades for music.. Those musicians,,singers, lyricists, etc born in the 1940s through the early 50s dominated the music scene and produced legendary music, masterpieces.. unmatched and sadly we will never see the likes of it again! So glad I was there for most of it!
We really were lucky growing up with this music on the radio, or the 8-track, or cassette...those were the heady days of what would later become..."Classic Rock" Rock ON!!!
Its a fast story about fast times that leave you broken hearted and you don't even know what just happened. The tempo of the song is critical to the tension of the story.
Fame, riches, romance it's all fleeting. Seger knows how to put it all together lyrically and in sound. You are right Seger does not miss. You can't go wrong with the Silver Bullet Band and Bob Seger.
Check out Roll Me Away sometime. It's a great song IMO one of his best. Another one American Storm. The piano in both of these songs will definitely get you moving.
The woman in the song is Fame. The relentless forward motion of the music represents the the wild ride that the Midwestern Boy goes on, the non-stop rush, a ride that cannot be controlled.
One of the great American singer/songwriters of the seventies and eighties.....telling us stories of how we live our lives here, what can happen to us and how we feel.....and the memories of it all!
I live between Detroit and Ann Arbor where Seger grew up. In this area Seger is royalty - truly revered. Glen Frey got to know and play with Seger while Frey was still in Highschool. Seger wanted Frey to go on tour with him, but Frey's mom wouldn't let him. They remained good friend's till Frey's death.
Yes! I loved The Ark! It was the last place I got together with my buddy, Rick Danko! We had a bit of a party in his tour bus, then Rick died just months later. Long live Detroit rock’n roll! Peace
Roll Me Away would be my choice for Bob Seger songs that speak directly to me...Even got to do as the song describes a couple of times. You guys are gonna be doing this for a long time....
I love how you guys love "The American Savage" Bob Seger. Thank you for reacting to his music. One I know you'll like is Roll Me Away. Give it a listen.
Bob can definitely give off different vibes and tell good stories Fire down below is a good one and Sunspot baby is kinda funny Glad you are here to enjoy all this music and share your thoughts with us!!!
If you were born in the '60's & grew up in the '70's there was hardly a party you could go to where they didn't break out Live Bullett. Turn The Page, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, Nutbush City... hard to go wrong with that album.
Bob Seger ... WHAT A VOICE!!! I saw him in concert in the late 1970s, and he blew the roof off that place! Mind-bending voice, and an astounding songwriter.
Excellent analysis of a Classic Bob Seger tune. If you're going to deep dive I'll recommend, "Roll Me Away", "Even Now" + "Feel Like A Number" three rockers w great stories.
As a Detroit native, the album Live Bullet was issued to me at 9 years old. Now in Los Angeles this song has become a self-fulfilling prophecy, LOL! Spot on with your review but I'd add that without the music framing the story so well, Bob wouldn't shine like he does here. Love the title. American Savage! Great work as always gentlemen, thanks!
I only saw him once in concert but it was a great show. He has lots of hits and I know you have hit some. I suggest you do “ Her Strut” if you haven’t heard it.
I agree with all the great comments here! I honestly didn't appreciate Bob Seger enough in the 70's / 80's. We were so jaded with SO MUCH great music it was unbelievable. Now he is an American rock legend in my mind.
Haven't looked it up on your channel but if you haven't checked out "Roll me Away" by Bob Seger your going to LOVE IT, another great story, guaranteed "banger"❗️❗️
Bob is an American treasure with all his stories, great music, and exceptional vocals!A truly great album is this one; Stranger In Town with this song Old Time Rock’n Roll and many more great songs!
What drew me in first and foremost was that drum beat. Throw in the lyrics and you got 🔥. By far my favorite song from Seger. Go back and listen to the precision of the drumming. OMFG! This song just smokes from start to finish.
Bob is one of the greatest story tellers of all time. And, I have never found a bad song on any of his albums. Hearing him brings back memories of seeing him live in 76. I was 16 watching one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life! What a national treasure.
He’s just such an amazing songwriter. Detroit through and through. You haven’t done ‘Against the wind’, ‘We’ve got tonight’, ‘You’ll Accompany me’, “Shame on the moon’ (a cover). There are many!!! ❤❤❤
Bob Seger is one of those artists who was under the mainstream eyeballs for years. He’d been playing since the 70s , churning out songs that everyone knows, but don’t realize who it is. Another Detroit artist he took under his wing before he went out on his own was Glen Frey of the Eagles before the Eagles. The Eagles were 70s, that’s enough to let you know of Segers longevity.
Now that was a reaction! So glad you two shared where it took ya. 😄 I suppose the main problem now, worse than what you describe about then, is that Hollywood is a boarded up tent city.
I'm old enough that I recall Seger first coming on the scene nationally; I was hooked on his music IMMEDIATELY. Been a fan ever since. So glad you're catching up to him. He has SO MANY bangers!
Bob Seger is a prolific lyricist. He is best storyteller in Rock and Roll. All his songs make their point lyrically. He is our favorite son from Michigan.
IMHO, this is his 2nd best song(Turn The Page is #1). Everything you like about Bob Seger is here, brilliant storytelling perfectly sang, music perfectly matching the story.
La and Che you bros are on a roll.. You’re like the Tom Brady led Patriots where you just keep hitting us with huge wins! Been rolling with you guys since the beginning, love your style guys!! The crazy thing is there is so much more great music that you guys are going to experience in the coming days. When I watch your channel I feel like I’m hanging with good friends and I can’t wait to see you experience another banger by a legendary band.. witnessed your baptism with The Dan, Zeppelin, The Stones and Pink Floyd!Just to name a few! It was a pleasure watching you guys truly comprehending the magnitude of what you just listened to!!
I saw Bob’s last concert at cobo hall in Detroit, it was on a Sunday night that I’ll never forget- he played this song too, I think it was 1986 incredible!
Surprise you weren't so keen on the backing. This is probably the only Seger song that I really like. It's been one of my favourites since I was a kid - I love the whole thing, particularly the feel of the song.
Hey guys I thought I'd suggest another new artist to check out, if interested. "Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time (Official Lyric Video)" (by the channel: Cyndi Lauper) --This song is from her debut album called "She's So Unusual" released in 1984 and was co-written by Cyndi Lauper and Rob Hyman. Rob Hyman is an American singer/songwriter, keyboardist and accordion player. He is also a producer and arranger; he is best known for being a founding member of the rock band "The Hooters." I enjoyed rocking with you two. Thanks for sharing.
Soul and R&B so strong in all of Bob's stuff.
Dude was one of the GOATs of storytelling 🔥
His Best Song!
that drumming was relentless
I was going to say the same. I can't believe they didn't comment on that fire drum beat. Just fantastic and it kept the song moving at a galloping pace that just never stopped...
That is exactly the right word. 🙌🏼
Exactly! Relentless in the best sense. My fave Seger song and the drums are no small reason why!
David Teegarden was the drummer here.
David Teegarden laid down one track, then overdubbed another track on top of that. It makes it sound like there's 2 drummers. You can tell where every other snare hit is slightly out of time. It was an awesome feature for the song's beat.
Singer, songr writer, story teller with Amazing vocals...!
A Rock & Roll Icon...!

Its a fast story about fast times that leave you broken hearted and you don't even know what just happened. The tempo of the song is critical to the tension of the story.
The bass is kicking!
Fame, riches, romance it's all fleeting. Seger knows how to put it all together lyrically and in sound. You are right Seger does not miss. You can't go wrong with the Silver Bullet Band and Bob Seger.

Night Moves. Great story!!!

I grew up in Maine……and Seger used to royalty, it just doesn’t get better.
Roll Me Away would be my choice for Bob Seger songs that speak directly to me...Even got to do as the song describes a couple of times. You guys are gonna be doing this for a long time....

Truer words were never said.
Sometimes, I can't get over the DRUMMING in this song. Truly. 🤯

Bob always had that power.
Excellent analysis of a Classic Bob Seger tune. If you're going to deep dive I'll recommend, "Roll Me Away",
"Even Now" + "Feel Like A Number" three rockers w great stories.

This IS one of the few greatest singer/somgwriters to grace the ears.
This was the first song I remember hearing by Bob Seger on an 8 track tape in the late '70's! Great reaction y'all!

Bob is an American treasure with all his stories, great music, and exceptional vocals!A truly great album is this one; Stranger In Town with this song Old Time Rock’n Roll and many more great songs!
Writing lines with rhyming words is a gift, but when you can do it telling a detailed story, that's next level.
One of the best songs in the American Canon. All the best songs conjure up their own videos.
No song captures the pulse and excitement of LA as this one.
Ramblin Gamblin Man 🔥 He's amazing. Lyrics , Vocals .... all of him has so much soul. The band pushes like a locomotive.
What drew me in first and foremost was that drum beat. Throw in the lyrics and you got 🔥. By far my favorite song from Seger. Go back and listen to the precision of the drumming. OMFG! This song just smokes from start to finish.
Listen to Roll me away. Every guys dream to just get your ride and girl and go.
Bob is one of the greatest story tellers of all time. And, I have never found a bad song on any of his albums. Hearing him brings back memories of seeing him live in 76. I was 16 watching one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life! What a national treasure.
Ultimate driving song .. those drums never stop :)
Yeah it can get you a few speeding tickets if you aint careful lol.
Roll Me Away, Bob Seger video. You can see him sing and the Silver Bullet Band play. It's a very up beat song, and as always a great story behind it.
He’s just such an amazing songwriter. Detroit through and through. You haven’t done ‘Against the wind’, ‘We’ve got tonight’, ‘You’ll Accompany me’, “Shame on the moon’ (a cover). There are many!!! ❤❤❤

From the early 70’s
The hi hat goes hard.give the drummer some.and the lyrics is a definite bonus
Now that was a reaction! So glad you two shared where it took ya. 😄
I suppose the main problem now, worse than what you describe about then, is that Hollywood is a boarded up tent city.
Wanna talk about hard?? Those drums are hard!
I'm old enough that I recall Seger first coming on the scene nationally; I was hooked on his music IMMEDIATELY. Been a fan ever since. So glad you're catching up to him. He has SO MANY bangers!

You guys need to hear some Mellencamp.
The legendary Bob Seger
IMHO, this is his 2nd best song(Turn The Page is #1). Everything you like about Bob Seger is here, brilliant storytelling perfectly sang, music perfectly matching the story.
Guys, back when this song was made it wasn’t that dangerous. It was a whole lotta fun!
This is great!
Along with the lyrics, the drummer plays two different parts which also gives this tune a chaotic feel.
I love Bob, so many great songs. I can listen to him all day, His storytelling is second to none. Thank you!
The rhythm is unorthodox but it's still smokin'
