  • Here's a video for a 2011 Mini Cooper S 60K Service and serves as a guide for how to change your oil, cabin air filter, intake air filter, spark plugs and ignition coil maintenance repair. This video shows the entire process: lifting the car, draining oil, prepping new parts and filling/check the oil, replacing spark plugs, coils and filters. This how to guide works for all model years of the Mini Cooper R56 Hatchback (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013). It's not a convertible or clubman or countryman, but should be similar processes. Should also work for JCW and coupe models.
Even if you're just looking for a video on how to change the oil on your 2011 Mini Cooper S, this is the best oil change guide. It never hurts to check your filters with every oil change.

t25, t30 Torx bit for air filter housing, coolant reservoir
    14mm 12-point spark plug socket
    Torque Wrench
Flathead screwdriver, pick tool, or needle-nose pliers to replace gasket

    Parts List
    ----------------------------------
    4.4 Quarts - 0W-30 Synthetic Oil - 83-21-5-A2A-F99 -
(You'll need 5 bottles as each bottle is 1.05 qt)
    Alternative choice: amzn.to/3xubmph
    Oil Filter Kit - 11-42-7-622-446 amzn.to/4ag9oaB
    Air Intake Filter - 13-71-7-568-728 - amzn.to/4aAGaDa
    Cabin Air Filter - 64-31-9-127-516 - amzn.to/4aDrseJ
Bosch Iridium Spark Plugs - amzn.to/3Vu2l67
(Please note that OEM plugs are Platinum)
    Bosch Ignition Coils - amzn.to/3vkwj1R
In my opinion, do not buy any OEM parts online, just go to your local Mini/BMW dealership parts department where the pricing will be competitive and they will likely match any online OEM pricing that is lower.
I went with Bosch aftermarket plugs and coils because OEM was significantly more expensive

Are there other repairs on a Cooper S you'd like to see? Are there other cars you'd like to see? Please leave a comment and I'll see what I can do for a future video. This video took over 4 hours to film on multiple cameras and multiple days to edit. I learned a lot in the process and I appreciate your support by liking and subscribing. It is one of the only ways to let me--and RUclips--know I am making the kind of content you want to see. Thank you for being here!

☝️since you made platform for "any other mini repairs" request, my 2012 cooper S ' Head lights are not up to standard.( Not shining bright enough in both beam and bright) I'm using stock bulbs , don't know whether this is a common problem with Mini's. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks 🙏

Would you be so kind as to share what is the best tool kit / socket set/hex included with extensions kit to buy to work on my 2011 mini? I wrote down every tool u shared but was curious if you can buy them in a full kit or are they bought individually? Looking to do this exact job on mine. I just bought my mini a week ago and the half orange engine light came on going to put it on a code reader but guessing since it has 109k miles on it this would be a great place to start ! Ty for any tips you can give me! I APPRECIATE YOU!!

Hi Tamilla, in case you didn't see it, all the tools, parts and specifications are listed in the description in the video. There's no need to write anything down. I also recommend tools and have links to Amazon to purchase in the description as well. While I do have OEM part numbers in the description too, if it's your first time trying to do this yourself, I recommend going to your local dealership's parts department and ordering from them. This will give you confidence that you're getting exactly the right parts since they will look up your vehicle in their system using the vehicle's VIN. Best of luck!

No dielectric grease on plugs or in coils ?

    • @mldiy
      @mldiy  Месяц назад

Hi, dielectric grease is more of a "save your future self a headache" tip as opposed to strictly needed or even best practice. If you do already have some laying around, by all means put a very tiny bit on the white ceramic part of the plug. Don't over do it. Too much and the extra grease might work its way up the boot to the contact point which could mess with the spark resistance and make the car run poorly.
