      Thank you for the nice video, I been using this mahle oil filters in my 91 volvo 940 for years and never had a problem with them,this is the second time I use it on the civic, regarding the Valvoline 0w20 extended protection I been reading great comments but I will continue doing 6k oil changes.
      Have a great day my friend 🙂👍.

    Best 11th gen oil change vid! For reasons unknown, Honda oil dipstick is halfway between min & max when filled to proper specs. Your vid is only one I've seen that demonstrates this. Thank you!

    • @mldiy
      @mldiy  Год назад +3

      I am lucky to be surrounded by cool folks, one of the guys in the video helping out is an actual Honda tech! But I would have stopped there either way because that was exactly 4.4 quarts and I trust the factory specs more than the dipstick. Thanks so much for validating that, makes me feel good that I'm providing accurate info on RUclips. I really appreciate you for taking the time to comment and I hope you'll consider subscribing too (and if you have, thank you!).

    I saw the zip tie on the underbody panel on that white civic and had to do a double take to make sure that wasn’t my civic. The plastic shroud the underbody panel slides into is very low and loves to get scrapped into parking curbs/bumpers. I had the mounting points of the plastic shroud crack off, and no one could get a shroud so I had to secure back with small self tapping screws. Super jank, but it’s held for over a year.

      A friend of mine who works at a Honda tech says he just has a bucket of those underpanel screws and clips. Some are always missing in almost every car that he works on. Thanks so much for watching and for sharing your experience!

    Great video and subbed, precise and to the point. This K20 engine is one of my favourites with Honda. Old school, tried and true with port injection.
    I bought an OEM Honda cap wrench that I’ve used for my own DIY and it happens to work with Toyota (spin/on) and Nissan filters too.
    Sadly us Canadians don’t get a washer with our filters. We have to buy separate.

      Kevin, so glad you liked the video! Funny, I have a Motivx cap wrench I use for my Toyotas and it fits the Honda OEM filters, but it's good to know the OEM Honda one is good too. For the washer, I'm second guessing a bit, maybe just our local dealer does this to push selling washers? 😂 Thank you again for subscribing and taking the time to comment. It really means a lot.

    How come the engine oil on my 2024 Civic gets pretty dirty after 3-3.5k miles whereas it’s still clean and yellow on my 2006 Sienna after the same mileage? Similar story with the carbon sludge build-up in the tail pipe: still nothing on my Toyota which is an 18 y.o. vehicle and black sludge on the tail pipe of my brand new Civic? How come this legendary K20 engine is so “messy”? Would love to hear some expert opinions.

      I have the turbo civic and I've heard that the engine runs a lot hotter than the non-turbos. Apparently the oil left the turbo just cooks once you shut the engines off. Maybe that will cause the oil to get dark faster?

    The the two #3 screws on the front supposed to be so tight or is their a trick to removing them? They feel seized

    • @mldiy
      @mldiy  5 месяцев назад

      Hi VH, they should come out really easy. Your suspicion might be correct. My guess is if they don't look rusted, somebody just used an impact driver on them instead of screwing them hand tight. If you want a better show of those screws being removed, I have a type R guide oil change guide and the bottom cover is the same. Here's the link and good luck! ruclips.net/video/vId1pHHksOY/видео.html

    Do you know if the 2024 filter is the same as a 2023? As i look online a couple of sites say the filter wont fit a 2024

    • @mldiy
      @mldiy  5 месяцев назад

      I got really excited seeing your comment because almost every oil change I've ever done on a Honda has used the same filter. But, I did a quick check and sorry to say, I think the 2024 still uses the same filter. Even the Type R uses the same filter, it's pretty amazing! ruclips.net/video/vId1pHHksOY/видео.html I hope these videos help and please do come back and let me know if the filter is different--but I'm pretty confident it's not. Best of luck!

    Why does my oil panBolt leak after oil change? I changed the oil, tightened enough and it has been leaking. Should i change the washer?

    • @mldiy
      @mldiy  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, yes, you should change the washer. It's only 1-2 bucks. The crush washer isn't really meant to be re-used, but one can usually get away with changing it like every other time. The issue is that it gets squished, so every time, one has to tighten it more. This risks damaging the oil pan since you're now overtightening the bolt. You can imagine how your local quick lube place is not changing the washer to save themselves a dollar or two. Hope this helps and good luck.

    • @yepez24
      @yepez24 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@mldiy thank you so much! It makes perfect sense! I will get a new washer, since i believe this may be the reason it is leaking.

    The newer production OEM filters (15400-PLM-A02) are nowhere near the quality of the older A01 suffix filters with the proprietary media. The A02 is just a Fram/Honeywell cheap filter. I don’t understand why people still recommend the them.
    A NAPA Gold (Wix) or Purolator ONE/BOSS is a much better choice

    • @mldiy
      @mldiy  Год назад +1

      Hi Shammons, I didn't know Honda had the same kind of issues that Subaru had. Subaru just replaced their US market supplier again for a better filter. Maybe Honda will be doing it too. Generally, I agree with you but I think for a base model Civic, an OEM filter will perform fine (but I'd buy a Wix if it were the same price!). Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and commenting!

    • @mldiy
      @mldiy  11 месяцев назад

      I couldn't say as it kind of depends on where in the US (assuming you are from the US) you are located. But it's fairly easy to ask these days. I send text messages to my local Toyota service department all the time and they respond to me within a day. I'm sure you can find a Honda dealer to ask. Thanks for the comment!

      @mldiy  9 месяцев назад

      I didn't notice but you are right, it's pretty dirty for how old the car is. 😂 I wonder if that's an issue with the civic and how air flows through the engine bay or if the car was actually on unpaved roads. Some people have homes around here where their driveways aren't paved. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
