I recently changed CVT filters for a Mitsubishi Lancer that gets timely CVT maintenance. The filters didn't looked too worn out at its 30k mile interval. It's a Jatco transmission with its cooling system specific for Mitsubishi. I hear Honda makes better CVT than Jatco, so I would assume its safe to change the filters at 60k miles if it still looks good in a Jatco CVT.

Can we do this after driving the vehicle and the cvt is warm/hot or is it better to do it while vehicle has been sitting and is cold. This is my 1st CVT vehicle and im use to doing/changing my trans fluid on my American transmissions that are warm and seem to drain more fluid out when warm. Thanks for video! In extreme cold temps I would probably warm up a bit just to help the fluid flow out easier, but other than that won’t make too much of a difference honestly.
The owners manual for my 24 lx says “do not attempt to check or change the CVT fluid yourself”. Is this legal? Will I run into warranty coverage issues if there is a problem with the transmission after a DIY fluid change? Thanks

For Hondas and Acuras, always use the fluid from Honda unless you have the 9 speed automatic transmission. For the 9 speed automatic transmission, the fluid should be ZF automatic transmission fluid. Honda transmissions are very sensitive and if you put the wrong fluid in, it may cause damage to the transmission.
Nice work. My 2018 Civic 2.0L non turbo is a bit more interesting. I had to pull the air box to get at the fill plug. The rest was pretty much like shown in your video. I only use genuine Honda HCF 2 fluid.

I bought that 2018 Civic for my daughter to commute back and forth to college. So GLAD it's the 2L and not that 1.5L Turbo!!! Been a great car so far. Easy Diy oil changes in my driveway. I will however take it to a dealership for 100K timing belt change. Don't think I can pull off that job myself.
Recommended every 30K. A crush washer for the drain plug is needed and if you are checking the fill level, a level checker bolt crush washer is also suggested to be replaced.

So I have a 2022 Honda Civic EX 1.5L Turbo with CVT transmission. Got it in July of 2021. I do tons of driving and I’m now at about 130,000 miles but I’ve never changed the transmission oil. I’ve done all other maintenance, however. I’ve seen mixed answer about whether I should change it at this point. I’m mostly seeing to drain and refill and not get a full flush. Do you have any recommendations?
Do a simple drain and fill. Measure how much you drain out and put that much back in. Don't over complicate it. Your transmission will thank you. P.S. I've been using the castrol cvt/atf fluid for the last couple years with no problems, it's only $25 gallon at walmart.
Question on receiving Text Message. My 2015 Civic works great. At least stopped or driving in city, I get a text and press READ. the message is read out to me. On my 2022 Ridgeline, it will not read out, even at a stop, in Park. It has worked from time to time. Always get a warning message. If you have any insight, please do a video on the subject. Have you tried to unpair both on phone and car and re pair? Also using oem manufacturers cable. Lastly reset the car battery for 15 minutes disconnecting driver side terminal.

I would use a 5 qt measuring bucket (can get one from Home Depot, Lowe’s, amazon, etc). Whatever comes out, put back with fresh fluid. (If there is a leak you’ll have to keep that into consideration

I always measured exactly what came out of the trans and put the same amount back in, on the cvt accords its 4.0 its and the crv its 4.5 qt every time

Yea it’s basically Same general idea for the 10th generation civics. We use brake clean from a few different suppliers.

I’d stick with oem fluids although it’d there’s aftermarket that meets requirements I’m ok with it

If I put 3.0 in and no fluid came out, I assume the car was not perfectly level. Will the extra oil hurt the transmission? It’s a 22 civic with a 2.0.
