  • I found an easy way to fill the 6speed transmission on my 2008 Mini Cooper S with the 1.6l N14 Turbo motor. Message below if you have any questions. The tool I used can be bought from most auto parts stores.

To the point. Thanks. Much better than watching a 30 mins video while still wearing gloves.

I liked this video more than the information on Pelican Parts, very clear. Thanks. Also, I learned if you want to change the filter, the fastest way is not to lower the sub frame, like EVERYONE says, but to remove the three engine mounting bolts on the right side and jack the engine up an inch. It's nice to see an original S also. Most including mine has aftermarket everything.

they say it should be at a certain temperature at the t point of overflow, between 95 and 115 F . I don't know why they just didn't put a normal dipstick in the damned car, they just want to make everything harder to do. LOL Nice Video

Thanks. They don't want people servicing thier own cars. If they made it easy they wouldn't get to charge BMW service prices.

Ok I got little lost there let me just make sure.
    1. With car OFF but warm you open the drain plug and unscrew the leveling straw to let the fluid flow.
    2. After it stops going you put the straw back in but keep the drain plug opened.
3.Then you fill transmission fluid through the side with the little pump.
4.You turn the car ON then fill more until you see it dripping on the bottom.
5.With car ON when it stops dripping you close the drain plug (that means car has enough fluid in the transmission and enough in the pan.
Is this it? let me know what doesn't look right here. Thanks

When filling it back up with fluid does the straw have to be back in with just the first plug off? Or do both the straw and plug have to be off when filling it back up with fluid?

    • @SterlingRobertson
      @SterlingRobertson  4 месяца назад

If I remember correctly, the straw stays in with the drain plug removed. You pump fluid in using a hose into a hole on the driver's side until it drains out of the straw. When it comes out of the straw that's when you know it's full.

I wish I would have done more research on mini coopers before I bought one. It's such a headache!!! Never again!!!!

    • @SterlingRobertson

Same here. I bought this one from a guy saying it just had a "bad fuel pump." Well one fuel pump and entire engine/turbo rebuild later it then had security issues. Apparently it had a checkered past longer than Bill Clinton. Two major accidents, stolen, rebuilt, auctions ect. The car was so cheap that the just a fuel pump should have been a huge red flag but noooooooo. I think we put like $10k into this POS. Oh and since Mini is made by BMW, you get the luxury of paying the $200hr service fees at a dealer too. Yay. #fuckminiwithafootballbat

I'm working on the same car, same transmission. Whenever I try to pump fluid into the hole you show, pressure builds up and I cannot pump any more fluid. Running the car doesn't change anything either.

Same exact shit to me. What did you do? I ended up stickiong my tube up the drain plug hole and filling the car while it was running. It was messy and annoying because I had to pull the tube out every few pumps to check if I had overpumped.

Dylan McCollum no freaking way. I went for the underside thru the drain which felt way sketchier. Gave up on side hole when The fluid pump popped the hose off while I was trying to go thru the side hole and made a huge mess.

Hi mate. I just did the change by myself. Weird thing is I drained around 3L old fluid, but only can fill in around 1.5L back. How about your work? After changing, my mini drives much smoother than before, and nothing bad happened yet. What do you think of this weird situation? Is it my work problem, or just there was much more fluid than standard previously? I bought my mini from a dealer. I have no idea what previous owner did before.

Its the same trans as vw uses and some volvo and fords. Heres another Aisin fill procedure: ruclips.net/video/MMmsp8ULf1s/видео.html
PS: that dent will slightly change and reduce the fill level. Id beat that out if you ever take the pan off.

Leave it up to bmw to make this the stupidest process in car making. Instead of trans stick tube up top. You need to spend 1500 bucks to just do a basic fluid refresh or stop slip
