I remember the first time I saw this movie was in November of 1996. I was in sixth grade, and I was the ball boy for the high school football team. It was my oldest brother’s senior year, and we were on our way to play a team on the other side of the state in the first round of the playoffs. We got to leave school around 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. that morning and this was one of the movies we watched in the big, fancy bus we chartered for the trip. We ended up losing, and I had to go to the doctor first thing the next morning and having to take breathing treatments because I got so sick, but it’s a couple of days I will never forget. The day after we lost Shaun Alexander rushed for 291 yards in Baton Rouge as a RS freshman and #10 Alabama beat #11 LSU 26-0, and I believe that helped to speed up my recovery.
And on the sixth day, He created the football player. And fans paid to watch them hurt. And that was good.
