@@ImTrickyyyyyxD The leafs are stronger, and I have driven and ridden in both... The only advantage coils have over leafs are that you can turn shorter...
The oil doesnt need to be changed every 3000 miles, 6000 is even kindve a stretch especially if youre running additives like hotshot secret, oil cooler is a common issue, bulletproof egr is a good permanent fix, or delete and a tune, all the fuel side bs is a problem including oil rails, headstuds with oring’d heads are a big plus. 6.4 rockers are another plus. 6.0 definitely isnt the best diesel by any stretch but when they run great they are nice.
I had my oil tested at 7k and they said it could have gone 9k. That being said, I wish I could change it every 3000 because it looks so thin and spent. I don't have the motivation to do it though lol
Imo, 6.0s aren't a good first truck. Yes, they can be really reliable, after they've gotten the works done. That also takes cash. Don't get me wrong, I love my 6.0, but a 12 valve or 7.3 is a good starter. If you're mechanically inclined and feel like you're able to do head gaskets and head studs, then a 6.0 is a good candidate.
@Vincent Np. I'm not trying to steer you away from a 6.0, I'm just being upfront. If you think you can handle what it takes to make a 6.0 reliable, I say do it. Of you're new to diesel, 12 valves or 7.3s are much simpler. Haha
@@brettrichards666 yeah I got you, after doing the little research I did so far, I realize that the 6.0 was kinda designed poorly because of all the problems it has stock. I was wondering if you can like downshift on the gear shifter and like go through the gears on the gear shifter or not to like engine brake...? or anything like that.
The screen is on the ipr valve not the icp, the icp is known for going bad and the oil pressure pushes all the way threw into the pigtail and it doesnt read correctly. I just had a hot no start on my 04 and it was a mixture of a bad ipr (screen was distroyed) and shot orings on the stand pipes
Egr delete? Something you have to bring to a shop or? 03. Also excellent job helping guys with 6.0 trucks. Final question. 03 with 208k guy says 15k of work was done to it before I got it I assumed bulletproofing? But doesn't have those 12 bolt studs. Did he lie or what could have been done.
Really debating on buying a 6.0 but I see a lot of 7.3s on marketplace but there asking so much for them and there not in good condition but I’ve seen 6.0s on there cheaper in my area and in better condition so really am debating on what I should buy.
I live in Texas and I bought a 2006 FORD f-350 with a 6.0 in Houston I drove it to San Antonio because that's I didn't know anything about diesel so the oil cooler was out . So I took it to a know mechanic it was running when I left it there it sat at his shop for yr so I picked-up I had to pulled it out of his shop . Took to another diesel tech he told me he had changed the oil cooler and did a coolant flush so I took home and it did still the oil cooler problem so I have it sitting at my house
I previously had a super low mileage 7.3 and it had ZERO pressure in the coolant bottle but thn I bought a 12 6.7 powerstroke and it has pressure in the coolant bottle, I always thought no pressure in the bottle was good? So if there's pressure in the coolant bottle it's good? Serious question
You have pressure the next morning? You have it backwards. You need to hook up a pressure gauge to your degas bottle, get it up to temp and do a few wot pulls. Sounds like you have bad hg’s or cracked heads..

That's interesting for sure
I just bought an 03 6.0 lariat with 66,000 miles for 18k all stock except 4 inch exhaust. Two owner from California only pulled a camper and horse trailer.
If your upper rad hose is still hard/ has pressure after sitting overnight head gaskets are bad
Excellent video dude 6.0 aren't bad if you maintain them every one of the other manufacturers have problems as well just the 6.0 is well documented
Do you like the 6.4 I think their really good.
Ooo yes I like em
Yea best overall truck ever IMO
Thank you so fricking much!! People needed this like a good explanation of why 6.0s are still badass rigs I LOVE THIS CHANNEL !!! TEAMFREEDDIESEL 🤙🤙
I have a late 04... Best year IMO... Leaf springs in the front instead of the coils in the 05-07, but the same engine as the 05...
Why tf would you want leafs over coils. You like riding in a brick ?
@@ImTrickyyyyyxD The leafs are stronger, and I have driven and ridden in both... The only advantage coils have over leafs are that you can turn shorter...
@@sethsteria7320 you either rode in the best leaf truck or worst coil truck in the world because I’ve owned both and leaf trucks ride like ass 100%
Ya the late 04 is good to but idk about the leafs tho😂
@@freeddiesel I have nothing against the leafs... I just really like mine lol!
I d like to see a video about this same engine but with a manual transmission, how to tune it and differences in maintenance.
Makes me appreciate my Tesla lol so much maintenance on that guy
But it's fun haha
If your going to own a 6.0 work on it yourself that's the key. I have one with 700hp and it has actually been reliable because I work on it.
I love the fact he’s trolling yall cause he’s basically saying any truck will last if you take care of it and actually monitor ur shit lmfao
Let’s go. Can’t wait to watch. 6.0s are the best engine
Cap 6.0s are the worst
I have an 05 6.0 I love it I just had to replace my FICM that’s been the only issue I have had
Ya same here really
6.0 all the way have my goin on 10years with still ready for what ever.
My question is you’ve only had it a year. How do you know it was well maintained for the last 20
It's not 20yrs old😂 maybe 16.
It's 15yrs old lol and it was bulletproofed 2yrs ago and I knew the guy that owned it
@@freeddiesel gotcha. That’s my biggest fear buying used diesels
Can you list the parts you have put into the black 6.0?
Like performance wise?
Just a turbo lol
@@freeddiesel anything that's not stock that you no of, performance, maintenance, looks, etc.
Hell yeah brother! 6.0 Powa
I was thinking about getting a 6.0 as my first truck, but I don't know a lot about any diesels so I would have to do my research
yes do reasearch
Imo, 6.0s aren't a good first truck. Yes, they can be really reliable, after they've gotten the works done. That also takes cash. Don't get me wrong, I love my 6.0, but a 12 valve or 7.3 is a good starter. If you're mechanically inclined and feel like you're able to do head gaskets and head studs, then a 6.0 is a good candidate.
@@brettrichards666 thanks for the information!
But after all the bullet proofing and blue spring and other mods it's good but it is a lotta work to do and a lotta money for being new to diesels lol
I love a properly bulletproofed 6.0. It’s so reliable. No problems knock on wood. i think when you buy vehicles some units are made better than others.
Diesel clean is all I use.
i thought there wasn’t supposed to be pressure in the coolant reservoir after sitting
There is supposed to be about 16lbs of pressure and that's it
hey man, what gauges you runnin on the 6.0? love the videos man
How did you learn so much about motors please tell me!!??!?
Just being around them and diesel class in highschool
Do you alot about 2nd gens too?
I found a local 2006 f250 6.0 xlt loaded completely bone stock just like it came out of the dealership, I'm guessing it was owned by an older gentleman, it has 133k miles for $16k runs great on the other side I'm also finding king ranch trims with everything done to the motor with a lot of aftermarket cosmetics but they usually have more miles on the motor like 180-200k plus. being sold for $16k-$20k my question is I'm I better going with the stock truck and build it over the span of 2-3 years or go for one that's has had most of the things done to it. what would my best bet be to have a reliable 6.0
Depends really how well it was built and if it was taken care of
You gotta love a Ford🇺🇸
I was wondering if you can like downshift on the gear shifter and like go through the gears on the gear shifter or not to like engine brake...? or anything like that.
I use tow haul downshifts earlier
You can get an aftermarket shifter with the +/- that allows you to do that. It’s cheap and fairly simple to install.
Ya my bad lol meant ipr
What size life do you have on the 6.0. And what are the most reliable years for a 6.0 ?
05-07
4.5in lift and 05-07
Egr delete? Something you have to bring to a shop or? 03. Also excellent job helping guys with 6.0 trucks. I've always wanted one and got mine as soon as you started with the "6.0 series" and you've helped a lot. Final question. 03 with 208k guy says 15k of work was done to it before I got it I assumed bulletproofing? But doesn't have those 12 bolt studs. Did he lie or what could have been done.
Yes do the egr delete
Probably lying if he said it's bulletproof and doesn't have them 12pt nuts
How do you do egr delete? Shop or can I do it at home easily
LBZ all the way lol can't hate on a 6.0 I've got one and she's mint 👌
Why should I get a lbz over 6.0?
6.0 sounds good for sure, but nothing beats a turbo 7.3 idi 👌🏻
Really debating on buying a 6.0 but I see a lot of 7.3s on marketplace but there asking so much for them and there not in good condition but I’ve seen 6.0s on there cheaper in my area and in better condition so really am debating on what I should buy.
What did you buy?
Bullet proof 6.0 is like a jumbo shrimp
I live in Texas and I bought a 2006 FORD f-350 with a 6.0 in Houston I drove it to San Antonio because that's I didn't know anything about diesel so the oil cooler was out . So I took it to a know mechanic it was running when I left it there it sat at his shop for yr so I picked-up I had to pulled it out of his shop . Took to another diesel tech he told me he had changed the oil cooler and did a coolant flush so I took home and it did still the oil cooler problem so I have it sitting at my house
0:13 this guy's is a legend 😂😂 it's so true 🤣
I previously had a super low mileage 7.3 and it had ZERO pressure in the coolant bottle but thn I bought a 12 6.7 powerstroke and it has pressure in the coolant bottle, I always thought no pressure in the bottle was good? So if there's pressure in the coolant bottle it's good? Serious question
Yes a Lil pressure is good it only holds 16psi
I'm running the bullet proof diesel air to oil cooler on my 04 6.0
You have pressure the next morning? You have it backwards. You need to hook up a pressure gauge to your degas bottle, get it up to temp and do a few wot pulls. Sounds like you have bad hg’s or cracked heads..
I'd drive one if I had the money
How did you get yours to smoke without a smoke switch?
Blessed performance tunes
cold no start with blown fuses in the fuse block....?
Hey love your vid’s man! I am looking to get a 05 to 07 6oh. Can you refer some like links and stuff for the parts you would get for bulletproofing? Keep up the great work 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yessir I'm in the works right now on being a blessed performance dealer so lmk when you need parts an I can get you set on whatever you need dm me on Insta or Facebook
@@freeddiesel sweet thanks bro
Gotta monitor the 6.0 like a pilot
Thank you so much for helping me decide if I am going to keep waiting for a 7.3, or just buy a 6.0 because there are plenty of them. No fucking way am I buying a 6.0
What will happen if u don’t do a jam reset?
Could lead to some problems
I will say i have 2004.5 f250 with a 6.0 studded full delete and a stage 3 turbo and the only problem iv had is a water pump (that i just replaced with a bullet aluminum propeller) and 2 starters. Other than that its a power house at 10 lbs of boost
Part 2 would be awesome!!
I have one question can you show us what those buttons do above the door handle
keyless entry all super dutys have them I believe lariat and up
Idk man If you have to “bulletproof” an engine just to make it a reliable daily is it really “the best diesel ever” ?
If you have to buy a $5k trans every 50k miles it's not worth it
If my truck is completely stock and never been tuned do I still have to do a kam reset after I load the tune
You forgot to say 6oh’s are the best trucks in the United States ☺️☺️ 6.0s are the my favorite though forsure! that’s why I have a 03 and a 07. Play truck/nice truck
Keep being you. 👍
