Ive came close to getting a Merc for my collection, but i don't see all that many here in Michigan and when I do, someone beats me to it. Is this a Thor originally, or were those earlier than '46? She runs pretty good!
Is that the Blade Runner engine ? Kd-4 hahahaha... man that's incredible this little engine is running and I'm glad you're taking care of it and it's not just sitting in a junk pile somewhere
What magneto does your engine have? They came with either a bendix magneto or an eisman magneto. I think the eisman magnetos work better. If you have a bendix, make sure to replace your condensers and that your coils are still good as well as your point gap.
From my experience with old Mercs and other temperamental engines, the NGK B7S or B6S is the gold standard for engines that spec the champion J6J. The B6S is a little hotter and helps while idling. The 70’s and 80’s Mercs use the surface gap plugs.
Sounds loud. Cool motor.
Awesome!
Those old motors a tough.. and dependible , Nice demo!!
I love stuff like that. 👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺

She won't drop a cylinder if put perma gap plugs in
