I am just happy that you work on a Santa Fe that is relative to my 2012 sport 3.5l.......I am a newbie to mechanics, but after your videos and repairs to my own, ....I think I can pat both of us on the back as RUclips University Graduates.......It' all in the details as you educate.......keep up the good work Matt.....Your vids are amazing.
Thanks, your video was very helpful. Just changed both sides on my 2011 and it’s got rid of the clunk and the steering feels much better too. Took me a bit longer than you - ended up having to cut off 2 of the old bolts when they wouldn’t undo all the way. It’s doable with a cheater bar and I used my jack to stop the wrench on the backside from spinning. Your demonstration really helped and I’m glad I did it.
@@CarswithNash Hi Nash, I was just wondering if you could advise me on this. I'm getting a rear spring carrier replaced, (lower wishbone),old one rusted out. Someone told my I would need to get the alignment checked afterwards. I think this might be wrong as I'm replacing like for like, and there's no apparent adjustment. Any thoughts? Many thanks.
Great video! Ordered the exact same links (except from Amazon, the magnet Rockauto sends isn't worth the $13 in shipping), whole job took less than an hour and the car drives and sounds like new again! Thanks for the quality video!! I see yours has newer struts, did your coil springs on both sides snap about one full coil off near the bottom of each one at some point in the past?
I’ve never had a problem with Rockauto…🤷♂️ I get what I can from Amazon because of the free shipping but the Canadian Amazon is pretty limited. The springs never broke, the old struts were just worn out. Thanks for the kind words.
Another great vid! Just a quick question: I notice you like to oil a lot of stuff as you work. What kind of oil are ya using? Thanks again for the super helpful vids.
Yes I very much agree with that! When I bought this one it just needed new control arms because the ball joints were loose, but then it’s just been one thing after another since. Should’ve just done the whole works at once.
I bought two that should have been different, but were apparently the same. But, they look exactly the same. What's the difference between one side and another? Also, did you ever replace the sway bar bushings? Mine are a bit loose as well.
Thanks for the quick replay. The problem with mine is it looks exactly the same with no indication of L or R, or up or down. Very helpful video, though.@@CarswithNash
did this fix solve the clunk noise? I replaced my sway bar end links and it solved the clunk for ~5 months, then it came back, i replaced end links again and clunk was gone for only ~2 months. Is something causing the end links to prematurely fail??
It solved that particular clunk, I had a bunch of other ones pop up because frankly this vehicle was just horrible, I would fix one thing and three other things would break! At a point where I finally had it running halfway smooth I sold it.
You should use another piece of wood on top of the tires to reach the underbody of the vehicle nice and snug, for extra safety in case the jack should fail.
This was so helpful Matt! I wish you lived in Arizona I would have you fix mine! The video content was clear and educational. Thank you for posting! 😊
@karenthompson2952 Thank you. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks Matt, I’m grateful to you for your clear concise video, I’m working on my vehicle for the first time and you’ve given me a lot of confidence

Good job Matt, video is crystal clear and sound is perfect.
Thanks. I appreciate hearing that.
Nice clear and concise instructions....good job!
Thanks!(-:
Really informative, many thanks. I have a 2010 2.2 diesel here in Northern Ireland. Brilliant cars.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately we never got the diesel engine option here.

@andyarmstrong1493 Yes, you're right, the alignment should not be necessary, the part should fit identical and nothing should change alignment wise.
@@CarswithNash Thanks, I appreciate your advice 🙏
Hi Matt great videos short sweet to the point . Helped me out greatly with our Santa fe
That’s great to hear, thanks for your feedback.
I was told today that my struts are worn and sway bar links also .. what's good tho is the car you used is the same model that I have .. :)
Glad the video is helpful to you, If you didn't already notice, I also have one on the strut replacement. Good luck with your repairs.

If you do the top first then you can pry down slightly on the sway bar with a pry bar and get to the bottom bolt with a 1/2” impact.
Yeah I noticed that later into the repair but that first one was so rusted up there was no way it was coming off anyway.
Another great vid! Just a quick question: I notice you like to oil a lot of stuff as you work. What kind of oil are ya using? Thanks again for the super helpful vids.
I use 3 in 1 oil, it’s a great multipurpose oil and penetrant. Appreciate the feedback, thanks.
The Santa Fe seems to just love to eat front end parts

Looking for a video for removal of rear stabilizer suspension bar on a 2011 santa fe
Sorry I never made that one and I no longer have the vehicle.
What brand strut is recommended for the Santa Fe?

My bushings seemed fine so I never replaced them. Make sure you have them the right way up, I think they can go on either side but only one way up.
Thanks for the quick replay. The problem with mine is it looks exactly the same with no indication of L or R, or up or down. Very helpful video, though.@@CarswithNash
thanks
How about 2001 sway bar bushing replace can pls. Do that
Sorry, I only do videos on vehicles I'm working on and I only work on vehicles I own and I don't own or intend to own a 2001 Santa Fe.
How about the bushing do you have to replace it
Depends if they are worn or not, mine seemed fine so I just put a little silicone spray on them to keep them from squeaking.
@@CarswithNash Did you need to do alignment after replacing the sway bar links?
@@billfrete8487 No they shouldn’t affect the alignment.

Could changing this cause the steering wheel to go off center slightly?
It should not.
You should use another piece of wood on top of the tires to reach the underbody of the vehicle nice and snug, for extra safety in case the jack should fail.
torque specs for swaybar links?
what was the part on which you put up your jack? control arm?
I believe I had it on the head of the sub frame mounting bolt.
@@CarswithNash thanks.
Was that the problem? Did it get fixed
