Sequel Joker Folie a Deux Doesn't sound as promising as i hoped one of my most anticipated films. Just so embeddedly at Awe from the risks adversity & down to earth character portrayal of Arthur fleck joker in the first! Hopefully I'll like it but Solid Reaction thoughts my friend!!! 🙏🙏🙏

The moment Lady Gagga was attached to this movie, I was extremely sceptical. This Joker, before the real Joker, story is lazy. It takes everything away from the mystery of the Joker. Now he is just a crazy dude who is a copycat of another crazy dude with no real motive but to be a better copycat version.
It took more inspiration from taxi driver than the joker character 💀
@mightguy3118 should have just been a taxi remake, pointless calling the movie"The Joker" to confirm the main antagonist is actually not the Joker.
Lady Gaga was actually the best part of this movie.. She was a great one
sceptical for what reason? she's a great actress and she's not what's wrong with this movie for most people that have seen it
@TheMolabola because the tone of the first Joker movie as a psychological and dark thriller, the casting of Lady Gaga as Harley Quin didn't sit right, then to further here initial rumours of a musical really seemed as if they were pulling away from the original themes.

I may well see this. But this may be what happens when the director says no, the star says no but the studio says “here’s a bag of cash, we don’t understand movies but we have cash and if you take notes we’ll give you more cash.”
I watched the movie as well, and I’ll say that in a way I appreciate the ending but I can see why other people not like it.
I’ll also say that there are some great moments in the film too but yes the musical numbers are a little too far drawn out. Some of it could have been cut down to allow the characters to hit their full potential and flesh out the story.
I gave this movie a 7/10. It’s not horrible but it’s definitely going to split the audience down the middle which isn’t a good thing 😆

I had the same reaction as you did. I expected so much more from this film though I wouldn’t call it a bad film at all. Wanted to love it or at least like to a lot but I didn’t as much. I have it a 2.9/5. That’s being nice.

I go by my gut and I'm pretty good at predicting what movies will do welll and I'd be amazed if this movie does well in the end. I had little interest in seeing it even before the terrible reviews.

I think DC had enough Joker and Harley Quinn stories on their plate for the Batman universe. Its time they actually explore the other damn villains in an ever growing rouges gallery. Like holy shit when when can I see Black Mask, Hush, and Professor Pyg?? One of the few examples of candidates to look forward in film.
I saw it tonight too and loved it. I think they could have cut 2 or 3 of the numbers or just shortened them a bit. But I think the music aspect made a lot of sense. I think Gaga was an amazing Harley Quinn and her layered crazy was such a good spin on the character. I think overall a solid 8.75/10. For the ending, without spoiling, it left me with a lot of questions. It got me kind of excited to keep exploring this world.
I’m glad you enjoyed it a lot more than I did and we can definitely agree.m, way to many musical numbers

First one i went with my sister and we walked out abd i remember she said 'I'm in shock, i don't know what I've just seen i just know it was great' and i agreed, once we found out about this unnecessary sequel and went to see it yesterday (my wife will not watch any superhero movies but she did like Dark Knight), my sister said 'well that was pure #$%@' and i agree but i was lucky enough to fall asleep.
I could tell from first trailer that this would be a pass for me.

I liked the film quite a bit.
I'm sort of stuck in the past when it comes to movies, so from my completely outdated perspective, first Joker was already garbage... It's Taxi Driver and King of Comedy for dummies, people! It's amazing how standards have plummeted.

I haven't personally seen it yet, but I do think I'll enjoy it for what it is. I enjoy movies that are, what I would say as "different." I'm tired of going to the movies and seeing essentially the same film over and over again. I never thought this film was going to hit as high of a note as the first one (pun intended), but I figured I may enjoy it because of how much I enjoyed the first one. The first movie had lots of themes regarding mental illness and the implications of what's seen in the mind, versus what's seen in reality. I really enjoyed that aspect of the first one. Even though this one seems to do that, although not as brilliantly, I think I'll enjoy it for what it is. Ever since this was announced as a jokebox musical, I knew most people would be skeptical and wouldn't be on board with it. I think the song choices fit well with the film, but I don't know that they're all executed profoundly because I haven't watched it yet. I really like that you just said that the film wasn't for you, and you briefly said what was good and bad about it. I respect that a lot. Great out of theater reaction/mini review!

You can always look into movies from the past.
Most films that were created, with no plans of a sequel tend to do bad. Matrix, The Hangover ,Jurassic Park etc.
Not really a spoiler…As much as they kept bringing up that made-for-tv movie, I felt like wanting to watch that more than this at some moments

As a person who has worked in the field for years, this review did not GET the essence of the movie. Copycats exist, and that is what this movie tries to convey. That is the SCARY part of this film…work with delusional or schizophrenic people and you will get this film 100%. Much respect…but this movie will be huge in 10 years…

I gave it 7.5/10 I liked it and enjoyed myself. Definitely can see why folks didn’t like it, but court room dramas n musicals are up my alley. And yes ending was 😭 but I understood why they went there
Rewatched Joker in IMAX on Sat and realised why I'd not rewatched it since the original release, decent but not engaging. There are some films that make a lot of money due to interest/hype/marketing and the studios think this means a sequel is required not understanding that the average response was 'meh', thinking of Alice in Wonderland, Boss Baby, pacific rim etc, the viewers have no interest in a sequel, think Joker is going to fall into the same category

Not a fan of Phoenix and didn’t really like Joker (the first film). It wasn’t really about a villain from the Batman universe, they just sprinkled few things to keep Batman fans interested- it was just a film about an insane clown. If they had stripped the name Joker from it, I may have liked it.
I’m sure I’ll watch Joker 2, but won’t spend theater money on it. I’ll wait to watch it on a streaming platform or on a plane.
Fans who blew the first one up deserve to be let down by this.
Tbh, the only review detail that made me want to watch this movie at all was, someone mentioned that this film, unlike the first one, DOES take a stance on the Joker. My main frustration with the first movie was that it was too neutral on him and didn't frame him properly as a villainous character. It framed it as maybe the hardships excuse his murdering people, and they don't.

NOBODY has ever liked the character Harley Quinn. Nobody buys her comics, nobody likes her in the cartoons, nobody likes her in the video games and nobody likes her in the movies.
They keep forcing this character down our throats but we’re just not interested! She epitomises wokeness
