I bought EDC27 and have been pretty happy with it. First I thought that two button UI would be complicated but it is actually really easy to use and it's much better than playing with only one button/switch. You can also turn on the low power light with half way pushing button 1 for a little while so you can quickly check things and if you need quickly more light just push button 2 half way.

Fair comparison, although all have a similar form factor I think the EDC27 has the best thought out button controls for all types of users. Like the instant turbo/strobe, OLED screen for remaining runtime & fast recharging which is important considering it's a fixed battery. The Wuben X2 is another similar style edc worth a look.

I got the olight arkfeld and the Nitecore EDC27. Both are good but since both are around the same price the EDC27 is a much better buy. just the 1000 lumen mode that doesnt drop down is reason enough to choose this light. i have bought a lot of flashlights in the last 4 years. This is my favorite one to carry. Only suggestion as a frequent user. always fully lock the EDC27 when you dont use. because the ''mode'' button is hyper sensible to pressure.

@@kodaph Yes i have both. p20ix has wider and more beautiful beam but also is much heavier and is much bigger. the ease of use and carry of the EDC27 beats everything for me. I never had a light that could do so many things at once. recharge time is amazing... lumen output is amazing. battery life is amazing + you have the screen. Pocket clip is the best i ever seen. Both are worth the price and buy. Range is the same (220m). If in build battery doesnt bother you because apparently some people have a problem with that even if their apple phones and laptops have inbuilt battery go for the p20ix. If not dont hesistate 1 minute to buy EDC27. They nailed it. i dont even notice the 1000 lumen difference on turbo.

Has OLight sorted out the issue with the issue with metal in your pocket (keys, coins, etc...) touching the charging circle and shorting out? Try it, touch your OLight tail cap with something metal connecting the center to the ring. It will probably create a small spark which is bad enough and it will short out the switch requiring it to be removed and replaced to reset. There is no way I can depend on OLight as an edc or defense light if I have to remove and replace the tail cap to get it to turn on. When they fix that problem with their lights I might buy another one

All 3 options look great as EDC lights for the urban commuter with a flatter profile than your typical tactical light, which may attract some strange looks especially if they create a suspicious bulge in your pockets. As an office worker, I would certainly prefer to carry one of these on me all the time to prepare for any emergency situation. But my choice will have to be the EDC27 with its great UI and more intimating look if it's used in a self-defence scenario.

I like the way you lay good foundation of ways of thinking before you jump into the content. Getting a good start means a lot.
    I had a Wedge. I bought it immediately when I found it on shelf in the US. The Wedge's winning features (at that time) were;
    A) the cognitive switch because i) I can turn it on at any stage of mind; just woke up, dazzled, so sick, very weak, hurt, shaking cold etc. ii) with a glove off or on (I used it with a thick gloves there once, and iii) user-friendliness; you just flick it, and Anyone in the family can do; so easy.
    B) the usb-c charging port is best for travellers and campers, and
    C) the deep pocket carry together with its shape, it sits nice and tight in the pocket ready to go. It has a tactical twist on it this way...
Overall, I enjoy this vdo and want to look into EDC27 now.

This can easily be a deal breaker when you consider just clipping it it to the bill of a hat let alone many other possibilities such as a sheet material, a wire, a screw, etc..Very well done review.

Very detailed comparison . How does the edc 27 compares to P18 when it comes to covert operation in enforcement duties?

For pure silent switching, P18 is better. But for modern tech, brightness and slim shape, it still goes to EDC27.

After watching MJ's comparison video, it makes total sense for me to purchase the EDC27.
Thanks for breaking down the pros and cons by user types and user requirements.
As a community first responder who is also an urban prepper, this is a great EDC light.
Due to its compact shape and features, I see it as a marry of keychain light and traditional powerful handheld lights.

Glad it helped! Yes there’s no one perfect light but there’s a perfect light for every user.

For the arkfeld i just hold it by the button, not as good a grip but stil quick enough for controls.
