I actually did one „Mongolian“ Campaign. I started with the Karabalgasun Realm and conquered the realms to the north until i had enough troops to defeat the Great Liao. So i gained Independence and with a little luck my chancellor ended the truce with the leader of the Great Liao. So i subjugated him with the one-lifetime casus belli. Then i became the greatest of khan with the decision, which is available if you are mongol. So yeah i then started taking over every kingdom that was near me. But when i died i left the campaign alone, because it is impossible to keep the realm together. It was fun tho.
Had the same issue. In addition I had enough prestige to reform into feudal laws, which unfortunately ended my Greatest of Khan conquest as the Cassus Belli "Mongolian Invasion" was lost once I lost the tribal laws. Thought I could choose my heir better in feudal system, keep vassals more pleased and develop my cities better, but who needs that anyway when you can conquer everything. Also learned a lot about faith, because I installed wrong rulers to holy sites. So I will start again trying to avoid these mistakes, because it was just to much fun for only one attempt.😊
I started a transoxiana campaign recently. This region of the map has been very exciting, but what really stands out is how idyllic the ferghana valley looks.
As a history major in college who has also read that book, I can concur. Good recommendation and channel, I love how you bring your different hobbies amd interests together. Can't wait to watch more content!
You are providing probably the highest quality CK3 content out there. It is amazing the way you understood the educational opportunities of the game. And the commitment to do some sound homework beforehand. You even managed to throw the Prester John myth in the mix.
The Oirats does has some great traditions. Notably The Loyal Subjects & Strong Believers, those two traditions is what makes Oirats special from other fellow Mongolic Brothers.
The Buryat is inspired by the reallife Buryat people who nowadays live around the Eastern shore of Lake Baikal in Siberia/Russia and Northern Mongolia. My mom is actually half Buryat
I passed most of my test in high school world history because of Total War Medieval 2, I knew where every major city in medieval times was located, different factions in history, and a bunch of historical stuff because you get random facts as you play lol
As a history major I always loved crusader kings . I found so many unique and interesting historical characters to play as from counts the last of their dynasty to religious minorities under Islamic califs, to queens who ruled for only a few years who I could play as and create a new dynasty. So much. In ck3 I played as a Christian Norse countess of island daughter of a pagan Norse lord in Scotland who she has conflict because of this faith and in Ann island cut in two between pagan and Christian with no close land but islands. I counquered and became duches if island then conquered parts of Ireland and Scotland. One character I’d recommend is Count Herbert of Vermandois in 1066 . He is the last of the mighty Karling dynasty of Charlemagne who’s kings ruled Italy East and west Francia and most of mainland Europe in 867. Now the mighty dynasty is almost gone but a lowly count. Will they fade away to history or will the karlings rise again
Every time they make a DLC I'm hoping they expand the map and add China. and the rest of that side of the planet. Still nothing... There's a mod but it's kinda mediocre
Hey! I just found your channel and I like the content a lot. I think that it would be neat if you made some historical essay videos since you seem to know what you’re talking about. :)
Michael Wielenga I appreciate that and thanks for watching. I’ve thought about that, but the work involved to do it properly is more than the time I have available right now. Maybe one day.
@@RealmBuilderGuy Just want to stress that the biggest problem, this game has, is overwhelmng nubmer of possible start and its difficult to decide. And your historic-type guidesis the best way to solve it)) This mean we need more content from you from all over the map!
Didn’t expect to have a book recommended to me haha. It looks like an interesting read to learn about Mongol achievements and about Temujin’s life. I’ll definitely pick it up! Although it’s still important to note that we shouldn’t romanticize the Mongol Empire, as although their achievements were impressive, they did also cause a whole lot of death and destruction.
As an historian I agree 100%. I tend to not romanticize much in history. The one thing about the Mongol empire that was unique was the level of cultural and religious tolerance they had at a time when that was anything but commonplace.
It's funny how only the Mongols are given that treatment, rather than any of the other great conquerors like Julius Caesar or Alexander the Great. Perhaps because with the former we only have mostly the sources of the conquered to go by, while with Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great we mostly have biased sources from either the men themselves or their fellow countrymen. And you can bet that many of those sources on the former played up the destruction as propaganda.
Looking at the Greatest of Khan decision, and I don't think it's possible to be Prestor John, or even Buddhist, and take the Khan of Khan title. That requires Tengri faith.

Incredible insights that add layers to the game! Really appreciating this, you deserve more views!
Thanks!
You’ve doubled subs since I jumped on this train. Your growth pleases me
David Steffensen thanks! I’m quite pleased myself. It’s fun to see it go somewhere 😊
I didn't know there were Uriankhai in CK3. I am Sakha and as thier descent I am going to play my next campaign as them. Thank you for your video!
I am amazed by the title. Havent even started watching, but already had absolutely smashed like button
Absolutely agree on Guiyi looking like one of the most fun starts! Also think one of the Nestorian's in 1066 would be quite fun as well!
Josh Kearns so many cool options out there
Nestorians not ecumenical so the Pope will actually crusade the tribe of the cross, khereits
Can’t wait until they give us a dlc focused on the Kahn’s or just the east I’m general
Loved the video, It's really great to learn about our world though an interactive medium like video games

I started a game just now as that little Nestorian tag in 867. I'm going to try and reunite with the Christians in the West!
Nice! Good luck!
Your history knowledge and context are exceptionally great. I'm expecting the Xiongnu or Hunnu can be added.
Thanks! And I agree
Really like the idea of a book recommendation, gonna get to it! You got urself a new sub :).
Joaquin Rava thanks for the kind words and the subscription!
The three mages were Mongolic jee wee our dudes got some imagination and oomph
