In the heat, I decide to descend Baldy road to flatter terrain to avoid the heat climbing back up and over GRR . Well done George & Jessica!
Hello Jeff! It was so great to meet, chat and share some miles with you as well. Poor Charlie needed not only my help but the help from the rest of the cycling community. The thought of going down to the bottom and traversing in the heat of the day wasn't that appealing to me. You are one tough hombre!

you can check Caltrans website for road closures. Sometimes the roads are closed on non-holidays. This is not an event that you need to sign up.

I was bummed when I couldn't drive these over the weekend but I'm glad the cyclists could ride safely.
Yeah it might suck for motorists but it might take a little of the sting away when you realize the roads are closed for fire safety and not for the exclusive benefit of cyclists. There are many pedestrians and dog walkers and hikers out on GMR too!
