Is my chain worn? Consequences of worn chain?
I had this handlebar very high on my list as well because of its ergonomic shape and backsweep. However it doesn't come as narrow as I wanted. For those who have narrower shoulders and/or want a race orientation, suggest the Ritchey Butano bars with 18 degrees of flare and which goes down to 38cm wide. It also has a gentle backsweep and the ergonomic-aero profile of the tops feels so good in the hands. Maybe you can review this too, if you haven't already!

I have canyon version in my Ritchey Outback breakaway, love it. Beware to adjust your saddle angle with your weight in
Very good tip! To be clear do you mean to wait until you can ride the bike and you can put all your weight on the saddle before setting up the saddle angle?
I have that seatpost on my road logic. It is very rare that I notice the travel in a way that’s problematic. That being said I have hit bumps at 45-50 kph and been catapulted out of the saddle on a few occasions. But this seatpost solved all the lower back issues I tended to have when riding long hours. Highly recommended overall.
Hello Philip thank you so much for sharing your personal experience!
it's the very same seatpost on my Canyon Endurace CF SLX, just relabled from Ergon to Canyon ... Love it ...

George the way you support ritchey is just great. The only fact that i don’t like about mine is that the stock is way too low, not everyone is a racer haha
@@federext indeed not everyone is a racer! Tom Ritchey designs his bikes with a race-inspired geometry. However, a 55cm frame has a 160mm headtube or 568mm stack. That’s pretty darn tall!

I will! Stay tuned…

Sorry, but this is clearly a user error. If you don't stick to the operation instructions of the manufacturer then how can you complain? Doesn't make sense. I understand your annoyance in general as it really sucks to get a flat in the middle of a ride, but maybe next time you should wait until your emotions settle before making a video. The instruction is pretty clear: you have to use the replenisher every 90-120 days to avoid the sealant from drying out. You never did this, so it all dried up and you end up with this big latex-carbon fiber ball. And of course, if it's dry it can't seal any punctures. You should be angry at yourself for not maintaining the sealant properly. If you use the replenisher the lifetime of the initial sealant is extended to last 12 months. Following the recommended maintenance plan, you add replenisher every 3 month where the last two injections are quite less in volume. So, you once add the expensive latex-carbon fiber sealant and then top it regularly with latex to compensate for the loss due to evaporation. It's a common maintenance cycle also found by every other manufacturer. Except you don't have to clean and replace but refresh. Then after a year you have to clean and replace. Maybe you like to try it again and give feedback h ow the sealant behaves when properly maintained. This is not more expensive than other good sealants, although it appears to be at the first glance because of the extra replenisher. But you really go with one filling of Silca Ultimate Sealant for 12 months. This will make your bottle last for a while. Between the replacement you add some small amount of replenisher every 3 months.
It was fewer than 60 days. Additionally I’m not going to use a sealant that requires you to buy ANOTHER product to keep it liquified that’s just bullshit and a money grab for Silca. Thanks for watching please consider subscribing to see more debunking of bike industry marketing and money grabs 😊
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I think you didn't understand it. You have to replace sealant every few months with every sealant. Anyways, I'm not working for Silca and I don't even use their overpriced products. So I'm not going to defend their concept or product. It's just, why did you buy it in the first place if you don't want to buy the replenisher? Never mind.
I own a bike shop so I test and evaluate everything before I recommend it to my customers. By the way, try not to be so passive aggressive :-) Here's some data -- I installed fresh sealant the night of 2/17/23 because the next day I was doing a Double Century event with 10K of climbing on 2/18/23 This video was taken on May 23rd and released May 24th. Looks like the sealant was just a few days past 90 days. However, I shouldn't need to buy an additional product from anyone just to keep the sealant I am using in a liquified form. I mean wouldn't you agree? And of course I was testing how long the sealant would work without buying additional products. That's what I do test things so you don' have to. This bike was ridden sparingly from February to May. Because I switched to my steel bike for my brevets that were longer than 200 miles as I was getting my qualification for Paris Brest Paris 1226km (762 mile) Ultra. I switched back to this bike just before riding the group ride on May 23rd. Thanks for watching please consider subscribing

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I don't mean to be passive aggressive. I think I was "active aggressive" 😏 I was complaining about your content of this video as it came over quite biased or anger driven and subjective. I have a friend who happens to be a Silca fan-boy. However, this has never happened to him. This big latex ball is what happens if you let the sealant dry up. How fast the sealant will dry up depends on several factors like the make of tires and environmental conditions and the way you inflate your tires. The instructions mention this. I just believe that such videos are not fair and mislead the cycling community. There are a lot of videos on RUclips where people complain about products while not realizing that they didn't use it correctly as intended. Like using wrong tire pressures with rims or tires that are explicitly mentioned to be incompatible in the manual etc. and then complaining that the tire came off. There are plenty of such videos or reviews (like on Amazon). This is not cycling exclusive phenomenon. People are angry and don't check whether they made the mistake. They are quick to post a video or review while still hot. that's why I said you should have waited until your heat went down a bit 😏 This product would not be on the market if it doesn't work. Whether we like Silca or not, they have a serious reputation they don't want to hurt. They don't want to grab your money on a single purchase. This is what cheap brands do. They want you to stick with their product forever. They want you to come back. Whether the performance is satisfying is a different story. For example, the sealant does work and does not clog after a few weeks. However, if it seals punctures well enough is debatable. If it is overpriced, debatable. Does it clog faster than other sealants, yes (it's latex based). But to tell the people that it doesn't work is not correct. In your case it didn't work because you refused to buy and use the replenisher. If you added replenisher soon enough than this had not happened. You would have had a great time with your buddies and would have been able to complete the group ride. I agree that Silca tries position itself as a premium brand. I think it's a relatively small manufacturer which may also add to the price. So, their pricings are ridiculous (my opinion). But their product quality is serious. And there are not many useful sealants for road bikes. Most are designed for lower MTB pressures. That's why I was thinking about giving this one a try. Others work but you lose too much pressure. I was looking for some experiences related to this sealant. Then I crossed your video. I really don't want to attack you. Your angry mood in the video just kind of triggered me as I thought you were the master of your disaster and the rant in this context was not justified., By the way, I think the concept to reuse the carbon fibers as long as possible and only top up the latex is customer friendly. If you had to use both liquids simultaneously every time, then this would be a rip-off. Instead, you only use one at the time. Other brands have similar maintenance cycles. The carbon fiber sealant bottle should last very long as you are basically only using the replenisher latex sealant. The overall price is higher compared to other brands (of course you pay for the Silca name). But you are not tricked to pay extra for the replenisher as you put it. The costs will even out over the time. That was my second point to make. _"And of course I was testing how long the sealant would work without buying additional products. That's what I do test things so you don' have to."_ - I think you have to test a product according to the specifications in order to tell whether it works or not. _"However, I shouldn't need to buy an additional product from anyone just to keep the sealant I am using in a liquified form."_ - As mentioned before you initially put in the carbon fires along with some latex. This latex starts to dry up naturally as the bound water evaporates. Evaporation speed is influenced by environmental conditions. You then add latex based sealant periodically as you would add any other sealant. The carbon fibers are still good. The initial carbon fiber filling is supposed to last up to a year. That's why the actual Ultimate bottle should last for a while. Non-latex based sealants also clog up and lose their efficiency as time passes by due to the change in composition. Nice performance. Respect for the double century ride. I wish you a good time with your bike. We love cycling. that's why we are here. All the best.
What horrible luck to double flat on fresh sealant! 😞 Great job coming to Charlie's rescue!
Yes this shouldn’t happen but it did 😢
Just got the redshift stem. Definitely longer stem is better bec “suspension” comes from deflection at the pivot point, only way to get most deflection is to get your weight out on the drops or at least the hoods, from others who have tried both (look @ bikesauce review, explains the physics pretty well.) I’ll let you know if you’d like, trying it myself first time this weekend
Awesome please give us your feedback!

@@jeffmorgenthal4019 ha ha You’re Welcome! Thanks for the follow on social media. We should connect again the next time we come up to GMR!
Ritchey Break-Away... sounds like a video. Never heard of it. Don't know what it is. Help us "know"! 😀
Videos are coming on the Ritchey Break-Away!
Yeah I can see how its not so clear especially when altitude heat and endless climbing on the menu. It's a bike made by ritchey wirh couplers that allow the bike to be dissassembled at the triangle and packed up in a suitcase small enough to avoid any bike fees charged for oversized baggage by the airlines. Paid for itself many tines over, highly recommended
Jeff’s credit score shot up to 850 on that Wilier. 😅

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Thanks mate. The Wilier is a dream bike for sure. My Credit score already so high from buying the high end scoots for @ 30 yrs!
@@jeffmorgenthal4019 it’s a nice looking bike. You went full Italian on that bad boy with campy super record?
@@pcdude2394 ha ha I’m a Wilier dealer If I ever got one it would have Shimano on it 😜
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad John Howard is gonna hate you for that. It’s like putting cheese on seafood pasta . 😂
“I ride pretty slow”😂😂 looks like he’s booking it pretty good to me
@@gc641 modesty and humbleness is a much desired character trait 😉
Look pro, ride slow. Above all, enjoy the ride.
yeah I ended with like 10 new "Achievements" from trying to keep up with George and Jessica while riding up 8-9% in the heat! Not easy but one must roll forward, always!
Much love, this is why I love cycling and the community. Always someone there to lend a helping hand, just remember to pay it forward. Loved what you did for Charlie and I'm now a subscriber.
Aww thank you! I think the cycling community is like this because we have all been stranded before and someone helped us get home. We all know that dreadful feeling that comes over us when we are out in the boonies and out of tubes, CO2's, cut tire etc. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and THANK YOU for subscribing!
What a mess. That's why I would never go road tubeless
“Road tubeless” the distinction is not lost on me. 😂
Mr. Vargas what wheels are those that you have on the ritchey?
These wheels are HED Jet Black in 46mm and 60mm. I am a HED dealer and ship all over the world!
Im a noob. 6yrs ago started out riding occasionally on an old Trek 9spd dura ace 5500 with alloy wheels with tubes. I road very little perhaps 3 to 5 hundred miles a year. I had maybe a flat a year sometimes two. My truck broke down in December of 2023. I road that bike everywhere for a month and racked up my yearly milage in a couple weeks. I had three flats in that time. One flat I had at night in the rain I was unable to fix with my two spares as both had tinny holes. That was my worst flat. I walked 8 miles home in the rain rolling my bike on the front tire. A week later that bike was totaled due to a road rage incident. The situation lead to me buying a new giant TCR with hookless tubeless carbon rims and disc brakes. I was new to the whole setup coming from a bike that was 20yrs old. I was a little intimidated after hearing my local bike mechanic talk about the complexity of it. Nonetheless I purchased the new bike with a power meter and computer. I never had any of these metric devices before. I fell quickly in love with riding the new bike and following my performance stats was fun and interesting. 1000 miles into riding I noticed several needles from radial tires that had imbedded themselves into my tires. These were the cause of all of my flats on my tube tires in the past. The tubeless tire was unaffected. It would not even affect the tire pressure. I was riding 80 to 90lbs for the first 1k miles. after another 1k of miles I got a real flat while doing a small 30m ride didn't notice it until I got home and saw the sealant on my seat tube. it was piled up all in one spot mostly, like one big glob. Idk if this is the right thing to do but I routinely clean my bike with rubbing alcohol. It cleaned the sealant up quite easily and repaired the tire with bacon strips and continued to ride with no issue. A week later I set off on my first century nearly at the top of my first climb I flatted. Stupidly I had not refilled the sealant. I tried plugging the tire with bacon strips and was unable to sufficiently stop the leak. I had a spare tube and began removing the tire. After some struggles I managed to "fix it" I finished the century with a tire that wasn't seated correctly and consequently I was extremely conservative on all of my descents. The next day I bought a new tire, my local mechanic gave me two new bottles of sealant and I installed the new tire at home with a floor pump. It was pretty easy with just a little mess from perhaps cutting the hole in the bottle two big. Valve core works fine tire works great. way less faffing around than my tube tires. Didn't need to buy new valves or rim tape which actually come with every new tubeless wheel set Ive seen. I learned that I need a quality plug repair kit, co2 is nice to have on me, and to keep sealant in my tires after a legitimate hole. Also my area has rough roads with large cracks in a lot of places. Larger tires with tubeless tires at lower pressure is a game changer for me. I know I'm just a dumb noob but I think with anything new theres a learning curve and a way to do thing correctly without creating more problems. Im curious to see how my tubeless saga plays out rolling forward.
Thanks for watching
And THAT'S why I'm still running tubes!
You ain't wrong! 😊
Watching that mess im so glad I didn't take the "red pill " the industry pushes in an effort to sell "newer/better/latest/greatest ".
One of my favorite movies! Jessy loves it too!
Rim brakes & inner tubes are a golden combination.
Indeed! ❤
