I have a Swiss+Cross disc V2. Absolutely love it. The frame clears 44 Rene Herse knobbies and I basically stopped riding my mountain bike because it’s more than enough for most of the trails out here. Also have a set of road wheels and tires for it because it’s also my road bike. 😊
Thank you George an uplifting video. There's as much sunshine in this 23 minute video as there has been in the UK for the entire month of December so far!
Glad you enjoyed it! We pay a huge sunshine tax here in Southern California. I lived near Seattle for 5 years and it was cloudy and rainy a large chunk of the time during the winter. The summers were amazing! I’ll keep filming our sunshine for you 😊
Your recent posts featuring Ritchey by bicycles inspired me to purchase back a first generation Ritchey Breakaway bicycle. I Am anxious to rediscover its distinctive ride a character. It certainly has that refined hard to describe feel of smoothness and efficiency that just makes each passing mile an absolute pleasure!
Seller’s remorse? Ha ha I’ve sold a few bikes over the years that I wish I still had. I sold one of my Race Across America bikes. I wish I still had it for my “museum” like when you see the bike that was used or won Paris Roubaix with all the mud still on it. Please report back when you rebuild your Breakaway and get it on the road.
Great vid George.. I think Jess wanted a REV bottle ref “first in” 😅 nice ride on the Swiss Cross dude.. didn’t know you had one in your stable 😊 great views and narration very natural 😊 Pete 🚴🏻👍🚴♀️
Aww thank you sir! I love this bike but I rarely ride it. I just noticed on my Strava it only has 411 miles (661km) But I'm riding it with Jess again today. I will get her a new REV bottle just for putting up with me 😊 FYI - the second guy in is getting a REV bottle this time around since I think Jess gamed the system 😊 😊
FINALLY some love for the Swiss Cross! I have the Breakaway travel version (2006 was the year of RevEndurance magenta colorway, it's Jess's size but no it's not for sale!). It's taken me many places on 4 continents I could never get to on my Road Logic-- gravel riding in many countries is just what they call "roads" and you see things you'd never see if you stayed on pavement. While it still has a snappy road bike feel with road tires, with a triple crank for wall climbing and bar end shifters for travel simplicity and a second set of wheels with wide tires, it's the swiss army knife of bicycles!
FINALLLLLLYYYY! 😊 Wow you really are getting the most out of your SwissCross BreakAway! And you're right a dirt road is a road in some countries and you would never get access to those areas on a true road bike. Thanks for watching!
Have to preride questhaven/double peak climb before BWR this year. Questhaven looks like fun pathway for bikes. It is cool the city or county closed it cars and made rec pathway.
@@sccxvelo cool when are you coming down? We can get a ride in. Quest haven is a short dirt section. The paved part ramps and ramps and then Double Peak ramps as well. If you come down let’s connect for a ride

Hey George not sure if you are on the latest Go Pros they have some lens mods to change out the perspective of the stock lens. I find the stock lens way too sharp so have to soften the image a bit after.
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I use a Go Pro on a chest mount, but I also carry a mini tripod for the Go Pro and Iphone so I can take ground level shots. I carry a small clip strap that I can attach to small diameter trees or thick branches to hold the tripod bottom. This gives me some interesting views riding by the trees as it looks as if someone is up a tree recording me going by. On the Keteles 4" tire ebike now for the Fall and Winter here in Canada ( too cold for road biking in winter). Great videos you have here of the Cali landscape!!
Not first, 1007th 🎉 With bikes there is always the current favorite(s), I try not to say I never ride one of my bikes. I try to ride them in some kind of random rotation. Maybe ride the one that’s cleanest, the one with tires that aren’t deflated or the one that is already in the bike stand. I pretend “they” get jealous of each other. 😂
Regarding content creation while biking - it took me a while to realize how much extra work those content creators were putting in to get, what seemed like, shots that just felt natural. It wasn't until a few continuation shots of people going back to pick up their camera, that it clicked for me. One creator used to capture lots of group rides with on-the-bike interviews. That stopped after a while when it just ate into the fun of group rides. Doing all the camera stuff on solo or group rides would just seem like work to me, but i'm not any sort of photo/videographer.
YES! That is the thing it takes so much effort that those content creators need to be recognized for their efforts! I want to do more rider interviews and more "group ride" videos. My group rides are much smaller now. Thank you for watching please consider subscribing.
Congratulations for your videos. Will it be possible in the next year to make videos on something other than Ritchey? Colnago pinarello, bianchi, etc. I would like you to try bikes with new carbon technology, not old steel bikes.
Are you going to buy the Colnago or Pinarello or Bianchi bike for me to test them for you? Where is the bike or the money going to come from? This channel doesn’t have enough subscribers for those companies to give me bikes to demo.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I don’t ever delete comments unless you are a complete asshole. Furthermore, I have had carbon bikes for years and years. I raced them and was sponsored by them. In fact, in my last video I posted about my Cervelo under 14 pounds with pedals and bottle cages. I also had Di2 when it was first released in 2009. And I’ve had it several more times in different iterations since. It’s great sure but completely unnecessary and it doesn’t make you any faster. I’ve broken more carbon bikes than you’ll ever own. And that is why I ride new steel bikes and not delicate over priced carbon bikes now. Disc brakes are not better than rim brakes. Keep in mind I own a shop and have to constantly work on people’s disc brakes. The ONLY thing carbon does better than steel is it is lighter weight. And it’s irrelevant when considering the overall system weight of bike, bottles, tool kit, rider, clothing etc. My Ritchey Road Logic is 16.5 pounds with pedals bottles cages ready to ride. My steel bike lighter than most modern disc brakes carbon bikes. Until you spend over $10,000 on worthless complicated tech that again doesn’t make you faster nor gives me more joy in riding my bike. What most of you that make comments like yours seem to forget or don’t take the time to learn about me is - all this has been done before. I’ve been there and done that and now I ride reliable durable stuff that doesn’t break and is not excessively priced.
@@Alexandro3333Alexandro no one is upset so I don’t have to be told to take it easy. Carbon bikes are shit man when are you going to come around to the truth of that. I's all marketing BS! It’s ok you’re probably young or you just don’t have as much experience as I do over the last 30 years of riding to know any better. Like I said I’ve ridden all the stuff you think I need to come around to liking and it’s garbage!
Thanks for the video on the swiss cross! Your ride makes me remind my rides in the south of portugal, my country. Curious that this week I found a swiss cross canti for sale her in france . I plan to buy it , to join the outback bab and titanium carbon bab. Which tyres are you riding ?
In this video I was riding Continental 5000 STR 30’s. My regular go to road tires. The idea was to ride the SC as a road bike. In other videos I will ride it like a gravel bike.
Hi George. I can understand why you’re not using this “allroad” type bike when set up as a road bike. It’s not as road optimised as a pure road bike and you’re not benefiting from its potential extended capabilities in compensation. I use a very similar bike above many more specialised bikes in the stable as my main ride. It’s extended capabilities are necessary for my local riding environment in the UK. Crucially fitting wider but still fast tyres such as Continental GP5000AS in 35mm or Vittoria N-ext 34mm and a GRX 46/30 crankset and 11/34 cassette expands the bikes dry weather multi surface capacity hugely without significantly hindering its road performance. The comfort benefit of the wider tyres running at lower pressures is very noticeable even on the road but the marginal increase in rolling resistance much less so. It’s a trade I’m required and happy to make to expand the operating capability of the bike to fit my local riding environment, I’m not racing. If I had your smooth roads I’d be happy to use a road bike.
Hello Simon - Thank you for your comment! I looked at my Strava and saw that the SwissCross has only had 411 miles (661 km) ridden on it. I'm a true roadie who just can't get motivated to ride in the dirt lol! I intend to do a series of videos with the SwissCross. I have been curious about the 5000 AS tires in 35mm. They are rated pretty high in Bicycle Rolling Resistance dot com. But now I'm even more curious about the 40mm Pirelli P Zero tires. IF I ride this bike more I will definitely ride wider tires than 30's. But always keep a couple of things in mind when you watch my videos. I am a true roadie. I prefer riding road more than anything else. I don't even own a MTB. Also our roads here in Southern California are like glass. So you don't need 30+ tires to tame rough roads. Sure we have shit roads too but you they are off the beaten path. And lastly I've done big gravel races before they were cool. So gravel to me is not as much of a novelty as it is for those just coming into the sport. Thanks for the discussion!
@ Fabulous George, we’re “on the same page”, thanks for the reply. Horses for courses indeed. Coincidentally I have a pair of the 40mm Pirelli P Zero’s awaiting fitting in the spring. Like you I’m thinking/maybe hoping they could well be the “unicorn” tyre. A tad slower than 28’s no doubt, particularly uphill given their circa 150g extra weight but doubtless a whole heap more comfy, multi surface usable and potentially more fun too….
@ the older I get the more and more comfort rises to the top of my priorities! It will be spring like here in San Diego 65F as the high and not a cloud in the sky. 🙂
