Your videos are very useful! Thanks for sharing! Could you please make a video how to use a new Business audience tools since FB has removing the old system! Will be much appreciated!! Thank a lot!
When you say to assign a "very small budget" to each individual interest, what is the ballpark of what a tiny budget is? I know it might depend on audience size, so if it helps, let's say the audience is between 3-5 million, would $15-$20 a day be enough? or is that too big and not "very small"? Great question - I much prefer to just use one interest targeting option per ad set. That way I can work out exactly how that targeting option performs. If you add multiple targeting options to one ad set, you don't know which is responsible for the results. That can make a big difference over time as you optimise your campaign around the data you see. I think you might find this video that demonstrates my Facebook ad campaign structure very useful: ruclips.net/video/TBSuxR_Qa90/видео.html
Hi Ben, thank you for the superb explanation about FAI. My question is how long should I run the test for some ad sets before claiming which one is better?
Insightful video , thanks! I have chosen a niche Segment "Banking" as my targetting audience and have optimised for conversion objective. However, I am getting engagements from "Non Banking" Audience. What do you think could be the issue? Thanks in advance :)
Hi Ben, I have a shop with an average product price of about $25. Let's say I narrow it down to 5 different ad-sets that I run simultaneously. You said to do so by assigning a small budget to each of them. Usually, I run a single ad for $10 a day but that is too much if I run 5 or more at the same time (just for one product, mind you)
Great question - that's not too much provided you can afford to spend that much on advertising - always bare in mind that it may take a while to find combinations that work. But in terms of budget, that isn't too much as long as your audience isn't tiny. We've run Facebook ad campaigns for ecommerce companies where we're spending $5,000 per day.
Hey, Ben! Thank you for such a good video lesson. Facebook is about to move Audience Insights tool to Business Suite, with that said would you please be able to update us with a video about that particular change?
I am looking to learn how to use the demographics section. these tutorials are always about targeting FB pages, but thats not always possible if it's not within FB interests which is mostly the case.
Hi Ben I am grategul to stumble upon your channel. Your step by step tutorial is so easy to understand! If I can add a question here. I am targeting the Big 4 (AU, US, UK, CAN) as my target market for dropshipping business. Let say I have identified their interests X, Y and Z. I am undecided on what should be the next step. (1) Should I split the ad sets into 3 copies- X, Y, Z and target the big 4 as a whole, or (2) Should I split the target market into 4 copies- UK, US, CAN, AU and test them with XYZ as a whole? Hope it makes sense and to hear from you :)
Thanks a lot Aidan. Great question. I would start by including all 4 countries in each ad set and testing the interest targeting options separately. You can then see which targeting option(s) perform best and look at your data by country (this is done under breakdown) and optimise accordingly.
What if I know my audience is 90%+ of a certain gender and age group but when I narrow down the relevant interests by those factors then it’s less than 100k people? Would you recommend I still narrow it down or keep it broad?
That depends what your target CPP is and how much you are spending. But don't usually judge results before 7 days, which is longer than most people recommend.
Interesting Ben, thanks for sharing. I have a question : If you consider that most large brands have, at some stage, trolled for page likes, how relevant would it be target users who have liked a brand?
Hi Arun, good question but I actually don't think that is true. I know some Facebook Pages that have used underhand methods to get Facebook Page likes but they are the minority and far more likely to be smaller companies. From what I see, most marketing managers in larger companies are terrified of getting their Facebook page, ad account, etc. disabled and won't do anything even slightly risky.
Love this video - is there a way to see it with the new FB Ad Manager? Also can you explain affinity scores in more detail? I purchased your Digital Course and am excited to start it - but wanted this quick video overview before I dive in.
Great tutorial, thanks! Question...very few pages that show up in the "page likes" section actually show up as interests when I enter them. Is this common or am I missing something? Some are pages with close to 2 million likes, so it seems like they should be available to target.
You might have been a bit unlucky with options you found. In my experience most over 250,000 followers will be a targeting option. I would recommend that you keep looking until you find some that are.
A quick question - Audience Insights has stopped showing any numbers or graphs. I've done every kind of reset I can think of and nothing. I;ve also tried a different computer with teh same account and still nothing. Any ideas as to what this might be ?
This was very useful, thanks! Do you create a LAL of the audience with the interest or a LAL of the people who have converted on the website (a LAL of a custom audience of people who've reached the thank you page)?
Hi Ben, thanks for the video, when you say create each ad set for every lets say (competitors), when I do that for example at audience insights i put "furniture shop" and is showing top 10 furniture shops on the area, when I create each ad-set for these furniture shops, I add at the interests on ad set, furniture name but is not showing the furniture shop as interests on ad-set, did I understand it correctly?
Hi Edinn, I'm not sure I understand your question I'm afraid. My recommendation is to use 1 targeting option per ad set. So if you have 10 competitors' audiences you would like to target, I would create a separate ad set for each. I would run a maximum of 5 ad sets at any one time though.
@@Edinn10 if a certain competitor doesn't appear as an interest targeting option then you won't be able to target their audience I'm afraid. For more info on how to target competitors audiences' I would check out this video: ruclips.net/video/5TVWpcUibbo/видео.html
This video was exceptionally helpful! It cleared up how Facebook insights can actually be used, especially the bit about comparing the ad sets. I arrived here from your previous video on the 5 common FB ad mistakes people make, which was also super helpful. I'm totally new (not only at FB ads but I just launched my new online business) so I don't have a huge list of clients/audience yet. I'm having trouble narrowing down exactly where I should start as a newbie on both accounts. Would this method you described here be a good starting point for my ad campaigns? Or should I do ad set testing to find my best performing ad creative, first? Thanks so much in advance, again, loved the video!
Awesome - that's great to hear. Thanks Lexis. Yep, what I demonstrate in this video is exactly what I'd recommend you do to find audiences you can start with :)
Ben! Amazing video! Was very impressed with the entire way you went about explaining everything. Top notch. My question to you is this. I want to target customers for a particular product. That product doesn't exist on Facebook, but we sell it on Amazon. Any advice on how to find that target audience? Thanks
@@BenHeath so you're saying export a customer list out of Amazon and into Facebook Audience and target that way? Doesn't that go against Amazon's terms of use?
Thank you Ben... my problem is that I can't save the audience. I click Save as, I get a new window, I type a name and nothing happens when I click on the button Save. The save window stays open. Tried with Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Thanks!
Ben, thank you very much for the great video! @Henri Pare I had the same issue yesterday. The new window is empty (no audience details in it) and when you save it, apparently nothing happens and the window still stays there. Then I gave up on the Audience insights and when I went to create the ad, I found the very audience available to use with the ad, the one I had saved there. So it's just that the window has a problem, remaining open and that causes the confusion, but the audience gets saved.
Hi, I just wanna know, after I typed the interest, lots of stuff came in on the right sides under the page likes. But when I try to target them when I make an AD, there is no option for me to type such pages that are being liked. Can you help me with this? I'm still new to this kinds of stuff.
Hi Orlando, not all of those options that appear are interest targeting options unfortunately. I recommend that you make a not of 20 or so as that will usually give you 4 or 5 that can be used in your campaign. I hope that helps :)
@@BenHeath I see, so I'm gonna choose 20 and see how many of it works is that what you mean? I'm sorry Ben, I'm really new to this and as of now I'm running ads and it's not giving me the best result nor the result I've been expecting.
@@orlandoacosta1709 yes that's exactly what I mean. No problem - everyone has difficulties in the beginning and has to go through a learning curve. The trick is to keep going and commit to working it out :)
Very simple and clear video with immediately actionable steps, Ben. Very nice. A question on how much one should spend per ad set, you mentioned not to spend a whole lot on each - do you have a $ figure for this? thank you
Thanks a lot. That completely depends on your scenario. We have some spending $1 per day and others spending $5,000 per day. My recommendation is to test with something you can easily afford and then scale once you have something that's working
I’ve used Audience Insights tool and I’ve seen people who like pages based on their interest. Relating to my business which is based on AI tools data, I’d like to use data that described on Page Likes section to create Saved Audience. For interest section at ads manager, I can’t type or choose page names that I’ve found on Audience insight. Can someone pls tell me how to do to use data from AI when creating audience on ads manager?
Thanks a lot Daniele, I wouldn't think about budget it terms of per ad, but more as a starting budget for your campaign. This video should help: ruclips.net/video/YwAE2M0jbkk/видео.html
Be careful with AI! There is no substitution for a human looking at your ad account every day. Don't let a software company replace common sense - or let them charge you money to improve the learning of their software.
Jup, that's cool if you're using someone massive on social media, like Gary V, as a target option, but for smaller niches, non of the top pages are available as targeting options. Unless you can tell me different, or that I'm doing something wrong...
Very useful video! One question: besides the 4 main tabs (Demographics, Page Likes, Location, Activity) where are those Household and Purchase tabs that I also remember existing at the Facebook Audience Insights?
Hi Peter, Facebook have removed some options I'm afraid for privacy reasons - not a lot we can do about that. You'll just have to find alternative options.
Hi Ben, Thanks for the Amazing insightful video, i have a question, after adding up a product as an interest, i have got many suggestion as an interest which are really relevant for my business. but however most of those interest doesn't come up on targeting option, what do you suggest in this case
Hi Amalavijay, in that case you won't be able to use those as cold audience targeting options I'm afraid. I wish that wasn't the case but there isn't much you can do there.
first of al it was a pretty informative video ...now what i am confused is that we dont have layring options here ...as narrowing down options .. so should we be creating audiece using just one interest if that has a good size say 500k to 1 million???
Hi Ben , I would like ask you a naive question. My agency has recently started managing facebook pages for few entrepreneurs. So once a client contract is done and over, we are out of their facebook page so all the audience insights, opportunity to use look alike audience for another similar client is all lost to us. Please tell me, how this should be initiated? Is there a third party tool that I can use for managing facebook pages of my client so that I am able to preserve the insights at a neutral site even if client exits?
Hi Ben. So much valuable info in this video. I just have a question, I've also watched one of your videos where you told that it's better to let Facebook do its job than to fill up the age, gender, interest, etc. Just set the location and you're good to go. Question is, When is it better that way and when is it better to be more precise with your target audience? Thanks
Thanks a lot and great question. I only use open targeting in very specific circumstances such as when an ad account already has a lot of conversion data and the product or service being advertised has broad appeal. Otherwise I will try to find much more specific targeting options. This video describes when I would use open targeting: ruclips.net/video/TfjRM1SiyOU/видео.html
Hey Ben, if let’s say I’m targeting men for hair growth products. Isit good to target only one interest like ‘Haircare’ or narrow down to those who are interested in ‘Haircare’ AND ‘Beard’? Thanks in advance! I love watching your videos, I gain so much insights
Hi Vimal, great question. I would start by testing those interests separately to see how they perform. If neither do very well, then you could test that narrowing criteria. It shouldn't take too long before you see which is the best approach.
Hey Ben, Thanks for all your videos! I’m trying to learn as much as possible at the moment. I would love to pick your brain a bit if you have time. I started a shop 3 months ago.. 230 something orders already. I have stayed with one main campaign but I find it hard to scale it. It’s a bit inconsistent. When I have tried a whole series of LLA’s, They turn out to be super expensive compared to the cold audience campaign. So I’m a bit confused and scared to keep the LLA campaign running
You are welcome :) You can always book a consulting session with me here: www.leadguru.co.uk/consulting-sessions/ There's a bit of a queue for them at the moment. Also, don't be afraid to turn off elements that aren't performing. They can always go back on later.
Ben Heath Thanks Ben. As soon as I have some extra cash I will book with you. I started a campaign with 15 interests and then after 24 hours I started killing Adsets that did not perform. All the winning Adsets are currently in a single CBO at $120 a day. But it just feels a bit fragile and inconsistent.
Hey Rameez, go to the new audience insights section > Potential Audience > Click on filter button right next to export. Took me a while to figure it out.
Hello Ben, I am watching your videos for a couple of days and I think that the information that you are giving is very helpful. I am running a Shopify store by selling baby products and when I did my research I found around 30 targeted groups. I am running a campaign for a week but it is not performing well-it receives 4-5 clicks per day and the reach is around 3-400. My question is should I continue with the same ad for all of them because some of the groups according to me are not the right ones and how I should narrow them to 10.
Thanks Mladen - that's much appreciated. I wouldn't keep an ad going if it isn't producing any results. In your case I would create 3 or 4 different ads and run them in all your live ad sets. That way you have a greater chance of generating good results and you can properly test your target audiences against each other because the ads are the same. I think you might find this video about Facebook ad campaign structure really helpful: ruclips.net/video/TBSuxR_Qa90/видео.html
@@BenHeath Hello Ben, thank you for your answer. You mean to create lets say video, image, and carousel ad for each of these 30 groups for the same product and to run them simultaneously, is that correct? And I should do the same thing for every other product after that?
@@mladenshahanov7772 yes kind of. But I definitely wouldn't have 30 different ad sets going at the same time. You want no more than 5. And the 4 different ads should all be the same in each ad set - that allows you to work out which audiences deliver the best results. All of that campaign structure stuff is demonstrated in this video: ruclips.net/video/TBSuxR_Qa90/видео.html
Hello-I really got a lot out of this video....are still doing virtual training via Zoom or etc? I hope so....I am a newbie & looking for this kind of "on-hands "tutoring....when & how much per session?
Hi Ben, thanks for your sharing! But i faced a problem now which my audience insights data has no response no matter what i key in. Same situation even though i only key in the location and gender, so i think is not because of too narrow down. Can you help?
Hi Yaj, that sounds like you have some targeting criteria that is making the audience too small (such as a small location) or there is a glitch. If it's a bug with Facebook I would try again tomorrow - these things do happen.
Hi Ebuka, I don't know off the top of my head and it will depend what you're advertising. I would recommend that you implement what's included in this video and you should find a whole bunch of great options.

I would run a maximum of 5 ad sets at any one time though.
yes we are same till here, but what to put at interest for competitor 1 competitor 2. if I put their name on interest fled is not showing anything,
@@Edinn10 if a certain competitor doesn't appear as an interest targeting option then you won't be able to target their audience I'm afraid.
@@BenHeath Thank you so much!
What you suggested, testing each attribute once you researched, sounds like my move AFTER I launch first ad. Have to start somewhere.
Hi Lorne - sure you can do it that way :)
Thanks Ben great vid !
My pleasure!
Ben Heath is a generous mastermind with his information!
Thanks a lot Michael - that's much appreciated.
Ben! Amazing video! Was very impressed with the entire way you went about explaining everything. Top notch. My question to you is this. I want to target customers for a particular product. That product doesn't exist on Facebook, but we sell it on Amazon. Any advice on how to find that target audience? Thanks
Thanks a lot. Are you able to upload a customer list and then target an LAL based on that list? That would be the best option.
@@BenHeath so you're saying export a customer list out of Amazon and into Facebook Audience and target that way? Doesn't that go against Amazon's terms of use?
@@BenHeath Unfortunately they won't allow me to.
Thank you Ben... my problem is that I can't save the audience. I click Save as, I get a new window, I type a name and nothing happens when I click on the button Save. The save window stays open. Tried with Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Thanks!
Sounds like a glitch to me - I' try again later
Ben, thank you very much for the great video! @Henri Pare I had the same issue yesterday. The new window is empty (no audience details in it) and when you save it, apparently nothing happens and the window still stays there. Then I gave up on the Audience insights and when I went to create the ad, I found the very audience available to use with the ad, the one I had saved there. So it's just that the window has a problem, remaining open and that causes the confusion, but the audience gets saved.
@@burnout-d Thank you, I'll check that!
Awesome advice, thanks Ben.
Glad to hear it Joe :)
Great video! always very clear and straightforward!
How much would you advise as a budget for the testing phase of each ad?
Thanks a lot Daniele, I wouldn't think about budget it terms of per ad, but more as a starting budget for your campaign. This video should help: ruclips.net/video/YwAE2M0jbkk/видео.html
@@BenHeath thanks
Who should I target to sell my facebook marketing course?
I’ve been using AI for awhile. Never really got the point or hang of it. But this made a lot more clarify for me. Thank you for sharing this value
Thanks a lot!
Be careful with AI! There is no substitution for a human looking at your ad account every day. Don't let a software company replace common sense - or let them charge you money to improve the learning of their software.
@@GeneralBenz completely agree.
Do you use CBO for this, or split test?
I use CBO :)
Ben, where do you fin the insight in the new buisness suite?
Do you run these as a conversion or a lead campaign when you finish testing each and everyone you find
Usually conversion - but not always
Thanks Ravesh. Yes, that's what I would recommend. I don't like layering, you end up with confused data.
Wow. You really have covered almost everything about FB ads.. Will check that out. Thanks! :)
@@SimpleJack26 you are very welcome :)
Thank You this video helped me so much in getting started. My question is the first ad you create what objective do you use? awareness?
That's awesome - this is how I would recommend you get started: ruclips.net/video/sStlIlmwkRQ/видео.html
GREAT VALUE AGAIN AND AGAIN
Thanks a lot :)
Do u hv videos in researching on buyer persona?
Hey Ben, if let’s say I’m targeting men for hair growth products. Isit good to target only one interest like ‘Haircare’ or narrow down to those who are interested in ‘Haircare’ AND ‘Beard’? Thanks in advance! I love watching your videos, I gain so much insights
Hi Vimal, great question. I would start by testing those interests separately to see how they perform. If neither do very well, then you could test that narrowing criteria. It shouldn't take too long before you see which is the best approach.
killer tutorial - thank you!
Thanks Robert :)
You are welcome :) You can always book a consulting session with me here: www.leadguru.co.uk/consulting-sessions/
There's a bit of a queue for them at the moment.
Great video. Thanks
Thanks a lot Immanuel - much appreciated.
Do you have a 2020 version for the new FB UI?
Not yet but will do at some point :)
Can you show this technique in Facebook new ad layout because I tried to do this but I can't
Hey Rameez, go to the new audience insights section > Potential Audience > Click on filter button right next to export. Took me a while to figure it out.
@@SebastianDuqueC if you review old FB layout. In that it showed top pages also but in new layout we can't find it
Hello Ben, I am watching your videos for a couple of days and I think that the information that you are giving is very helpful.
Explained very good
Thanks a lot :)
Very interesting functionality
Hello-I really got a lot out of this video....are still doing virtual training via Zoom or etc? I hope so....I am a newbie & looking for this kind of "on-hands "tutoring....when & how much per session?
I sure am - you can find out all the details here: www.leadguru.co.uk/consulting-sessions/
What are the best interests for the health niche especially women health?
Hi Ebuka, I don't know off the top of my head and it will depend what you're advertising. I would recommend that you implement what's included in this video and you should find a whole bunch of great options.
where do you access this page? is it from FB itselfor maybe FB business suite?
