When I started my research and was at the point of trying to figure out what's the best starting point for %rates and my rule of thumb would for I.E. let's say formula calls for cetyl alcohol...then let's say Brambleberry gives a usage rate between 2&7%....I would start out making a batch with 2%,then 2.5/3% then 3.5% keep it that way until you reach the max of 7% keep in mind ph testing....thoughts on that?

Can I use optiphen instead of stearic acid?
Optiphen is a preservative so no. But a good alternative to stearic acid is emulsifying wax NF or Cetyl alcohol.

It helps with a few things. It helps make the body’s butter less greasy. It also brings the over all melting point of your product up. Making it ideal for summer time products.
