“Give a man a fish he will eat for a day -teach a man to fish he will eat for the rest of his life”. They could teach several of the young ladies the business aspects of the company so that the Ghanaian women,who has been doing this for years and are the true founders, could operate the business themselves and receive more of the profits. Baraka are partners or distributors but definitely not founders or cofounders- they should change that.
If it was possible I would buy directly from the Ghanaian women.
Hello, I am going to be in North Africa as soon as they open the airports. I will find out where they are located in South Africa and in hopes to meet with them. I don't want anything from them but to see that they get every penny for their hard work. So these women and men can open up schools and much more.🥰❤❤🥰 I'm so sick of these opportunists doing this to people hard-working people like this. How they take 50% of someone's business 😤😟😲😤😤😤😤 my family roots are in north Africa and my husband's family is from North Africa.

Instead we purchase the finished shea butter directly from the community at approximately 25% above the current market price. We also go directly to the community so they also do not need to carry their product to the market where it may not sell.

Hello, yes it's pretty amazing how nothing is wasted. They even reuse the impurities that are skimmed off the top to make an amazing black soap and fuel for lanterns!
I do hope they are paid fairly, because it is so easy for them to sell their craft online and cut out the middle man.

I'm so glad I watched this. I had unrefined shea butter in my Amazon cart and after hearing about the production process, deleted it and found handcrafted shea butter. It's only a dollar more for the same quantity. Hopefully that helps more money stay with these hard working women.

This reminds me growing up in North Eastern Uganda where we have Shea Trees. We loved the season when the Shea Nuts would be ready. The Shea Nut Fruit(Sweet) and green in colour. I used to make Shea Butter as a young girl. I now live in Canada and I buy Shea Butter expensively.😟

There are many groups and cooperatives ..the women are not restricted as to who to associate with or whether they want to sell on their own

I’ve been using Shea butter of my ancestors for years. It keeps my skin and hair moist. I hope these companies are having fair trade. When I started seeing European people using it. They thought it was something new. Not knowing it been used for centuries in west Africa and other African countries.
Shea butter is certainly amazing! Ours is all made by hand using age-old techniques passed down through generations. At Baraka, all our products are also community fair trade and we will always pay a premium to the women who make our shea butter.
