I literally took my car to a shop to get an estimate to replace the thermostat housing and I was quoted $881!!!
The man said bc it’s a three hour labor job.
Definitely not paying no mechanic to do this thanks to your video.

Thanks for the video. This is a super simple fix for the dreaded "steering assist disabled" and Temp Sensor reading zero issue. At first i only replaced the temp sending unit, but that was not the issue. The thermostat was indeed the issue for my 2020 Blazer. Just replace both while you're in there. The 10MM holding the tube in place is indeed hidden and the trickiest part. Just use a 1/4 inch swivel ratchet with a short extension to get at it... Thermostat unit, gaskets, O-Rings, $28.99 on Amazon. Sending unit 15 bucks. (I did not replace the included tube. No need)

Currently about to do this soon on my 2020 acadia already have all the parts. Steering wheel assist, ac blows warm, Temp gauge flatlines, fan blows on high nonstop.
I reset code and it went away for a day. Reset it again and it’s been a week with no issues, but this is a temp fix. It’s crazy how a vehicle with 38k miles can have these issues and all these motors have the same exact problem. GM messed up big on this.

I’ve read that people have replaced the thermostat and temp sensor and it comes back. I read on a forum it’s related to the wiring going to the thermostat, I think that it wasn’t sleeved and gets too hot.

So I’m having the issue with the coolant temp reading as it was stuck on cold and threw the driver assist reduced warning , thought it was a stuck open thermostat but as I was driving to the parts store it started reading the coolant temp as usual. Could that be just the sensor and not the thermostat. If it’s just the sensor do I still have to take the thermostat out to get to it ?

My 2020 Chevy Blazer had the exact same problem! I just got quoted from the Chevy dealership to replace the thermostat. Around $1700 total. 250 for the inspection to tell me that was the issue, 250 for the parts, and 1200 for the labor. That seems really high, is it?? I originally took it to a Firestone and a Wheel works and they both didn’t have the equipment to inspect the AC system so I went to the dealership.
Thanks for the video btw, super helpful to see.

I'm sorry for what I'm going to say but. You are just explaining the easy part of it. You are not explaining the hardest part, you're not explaining the how do you take out the bolt down on the back, the one that tie down the hose that hold the fucken thermostat. And you don't also explain how to disconnect all the small aluminum hoses stick to the engine above the thermostat.
Also you forgot to tell that you can brake the thermostat in 2 pieces inside the engine block too.
If you are going to make a video explaining people how to do something, do it right all with all the steps no just the easy parts.

The hard part was removing all the crap on top. With the correct size sockets, if you have some mechanical knowledge, you should be able to do this. Draining the coolant shouldn't be a problem. Just take your time and if you need to take pictures as you're taking stuff off. Totally blown away by what some are saying the cost at a dealer to replace a simple thermostat. BTW, thanks GM for making parts that don't last 5 years.

I drained out the coolant all the way so i didn't make a huge mess.
