- OMFG, I am beyond excited that I received the Joan Jett Epiphone Olympic Special guitar in the mail yesterday! Last spring, this guitar, which was inspired by both Joan’s white Gibson Melody Maker and her brown Epiphone guitar, was released and I was psyched to purchase it. I’ve always wanted a guitar comparable to what Joan plays onstage, but they’re crazy expensive (and I’m broke af lol). I remember back in 2016 when I first became a Jetthead at age 15, I remember my dad helping me get ideas for my first electric guitar and I wanted that replica of her signature Melody Maker that I saw in a 2009 issue of Musician’s Friend. It was out of my budget then and I didn’t want to be overwhelmed, so that’s how I ended up with the blue Jackson electric guitar as my first guitar instead (you’ve seen it in some of my older videos haha).
The new guitar is unique; it has only a tone knob and an on/off switch. When you’re onstage and talking between songs, you can’t let the guitar go bc it would feedback and make a bunch of unnecessary noise, so that’s what the switch is for.

I recently bought a new acoustic guitar from Epiphone and happened to come across this Joan Jett signature model. It was definitely different from every other electric guitar in the Epiphone line. I've watched a few videos on RUclips of people reviewing it. While it's kind of basic compared to many newer electrics, it's still way cool and I really like the raw rock and roll sound. Joan uses very few pedals and effects so it's just pure guitar. Congratuations Rose! Enjoy your new guitar.
