    This video is devastating. Makes me cry every time! Even the edited video was only shown after midnight on MTV back in the day. The role of the stripper is portrayed by Ginger Lynn, a former porn star.
    Their album Garage Inc. is an album of covers by them. They also do a killer cover of Whiskey In The Jar by Thin Lizzy.

      I'll never forget MTV2 playing this video, _uncensored_ , around '98. They had a "Most Controversial Videos" special on regular MTV and then followed it up with a block of the videos uncut on MTV2. You saw Ginger Lynn's p* spread eagle, you saw the h* injection in Prodigy "Smack My B* Up", you saw everything! I still have a VHS of it.

    The actress / woman being featured in this video was a popular porn star from the 1980's named Ginger Lynn. I think they purposely chose her for the video as a sort of social commentary on how the industry commoditizes women and then discards them as they age. It's a devil's bargain - money and fame for selling your soul. She does a good job of playing a troubled and pained woman in the video because i suspect in real life - she lived this type of tough a life. Thanks for your reaction - i always enjoy them.

      Worked at a strip club off and on for a decade doing everything from bartending to dancing and when I was waitressing the club used to have porn stars come and do features.
      That was when things were changing drastically and fast because of free content online (2008-2009). You could tell a lot had seen better days and they were constantly on the road doing features for $2000-$4000 plus tips. One (forget the name) had literally just had a baby 3 weeks before. Horrible that she even had to be in that situation to begin with.

    This Metallica version got the original song closer to the newer generations. They decided to record it because they felt very close to the story Bob Seger tells in his lyrics, as they felt it could have easily been a song telling the Metallica story on the endless road, playing rock shows almost every night around the world. Thanks for doing this one, guys!!

    This is not only a great cover, but it always hits me a little more emotionally because it reminds me how the Original bass player and band leader Cliff Burton died in a tour bus accident while they were supporting Ozzy in Europe. Cliff was so amazing and also eerie is that he and Randy Rhodes were both really into musical theory and different things they could do musically and both died way too young. One of those wow, what turn would music have taken if they were both alive today. Throw in Andy Wood from Mother Love Bone into that scenario. He is alive today and the Love Rock of Mother Love Bone never turns into the darker brooding Pearl Jam as they had to deal with the pain of losing Andy one of the true rock stars that flamed out before the world really knew him. Do Bob Seager Still the same and Mother Love Bone's Chloe Dancer Crown of Thorns (use the video where they mixed eddie and andy singing lead)

    She's a legend in the adult film world, and an honest to goodness nice person. She is to sexy entertainment what James Hetfield is to rock-n-roll.
    An amazing cover, and I love that it pays homage to s*x work as real work. And it speaks the truth that abuse of women, no matter what they do for a living, is abhorrent. Way to cover a contentious topic while staying real.

    Here you go, if you want to hear a cool and different outside the box cover it's by the lead singer of Metallica; it's a cover of a Waylon Jennings song yes country...ready, it's James Hetfield - Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Gone Out Of Hand. Love this cover, love it.

      That is so good! In a different universe where James didn't meet Lars, he could have easily been a country music icon in the style of Hank Williams Jr lol.

    • @BrutallyGoofyBuddha420
      @BrutallyGoofyBuddha420 Месяц назад

      That's what the original by Seger was about basically. About his life on the road. Metallica turned it into a dark and haunting tale of a single mother stripper and hooker via the accompanying video and Hetfield''s delivery.
      And DAMN he nailed it HARD!

      It seems like the heavy metal intonations, cadence , just don't do justice to the song, but that is just my gut take on it ..I know some people are raving about it but to me it's MEH .Not bad but pretty predictable in terms of Metallica version. It sounds like you wouid think it would sound if you hadn't heard it. It's a C + all the way.

    The one thing that is so great about metallica's music videos is that not only are they a fest sonically but they also tell great stories that you'll miss if you don't pay attention.

    My young daughter once pointed out that they spent the entire video and song trying to make us feel sorry for her rough life, and then at the end, she says she'd make the same choices. All sympathy just went out the window.

      It is representative. Aging adult film stars would actually go on tours stripping around the country. That's what's happening here. "Ginger" on tour and "on the stage", with daughter in tow.
