- So in the video I said 3 to 6 times that depends on how badly the transmission is but the recommended by Honda is 3 times and on your last time you are good for the flush/fluid change. So you would want to fill your transmission up with 3 quarts and flush 3x do a full flush if that's what you're trying to do I just did a basic drain and refill. Hope this helps guys!!
So 4 qts should come out when I do this?or should I just add back in the amount that drains out?
Can I use AISIN AFW-VI synthetic ATF for 1997 crv and also synthetic engine oil. The crv did only 112 thousand miles
Will appreciate
You will want to look up with the brand of ATF fluid you're trying to use and they should describe to you what vehicles it is safe with as far as the synthetic engine oil it was not recommended to run synthetic back when you first came out nor required you can but what I have found over time generally an older Motors synthetic tends to find ways to leak a bit easier but as long as your motor is healthy and good to go you can use it.
Did you use 3 quarts ATF and full bottle of Lucas ? I have the same car I’m getting late shift sometimes will this help
Yes you want to substitute one quart with Lucas transmission fluid it definitely will help out I don't know if it will stop it depending how bad the damages is but it will definitely help out compared to not using it.
Did it helped, I'm having same issues
Good vid! Is there a filter on these transmissions? Mine is a 99 CRV. I’m thinking there may be an inline somewhere there. I’ve been seeing many using the Valvoline Max life in the Honda’s with zero issues. Thanks.
No filter just a pain in the butt if you want to do a full official drain and refill you will have to drain it drive it drain it drive it so on and so on to get the old fluid completely 100% out honestly I just do what I did and that video and had never had an issue
@@crv_tomsince we have a dipstick on our transmissions it's so simple for us to do ourselves, and cheaper too. But I will offer another option to those who'd rather spend a little extra. Valvolines instant oil change locations have a machine that does exactly what your describing. First part drains and refills the fluid while the car is off. The second part has you start the engine. They told me by the end of the service you've completely refreshed your transmission. But they can only do it if you have a dipstick.
I have a 97 Honda CRV going to replace steering rack what brand did you recommend getting
I had good luck with Detroit Axle when I did mine.
@@crv_tom thanks I appreciate the advice I'm only wondering if it's worth it the cars got $240,000 on it motor runs strong
How did this hold up??
Very well.
Thanks I'm going to attempt it this weekend. Going to drain and fill twice then with the final fill replace with lucus. Appreciate your advice.
What can you use for 5sp manual trans?
Best stuff to use as straight from the dealership and it's not that expensive ask for their manual transmission fluid from Honda
@@crv_tom thanks really appreciate it.
Love the channel bro, it's really helpful. Cheers mate
How do I change my 5 speed fluids for the transmission ?
I will be making a video for that very soon because I have to do that on my 2000 manual CRV.
@@crv_tom thank you sir 👍
