    The 3 qt and 3 oz (or 3.1 qt) capacity is for 4WD transmissions. My 1999 CR-V is 2WD so it would need less - 2.9 qt or 2.7 liters (this is according to the service manual)

    I wish to make a note here; I own a 1999 Honda CRV AWD Automatic. Honda has in the last couple of years "Totally Replaced" their transmission fluid to Honda DW1. This fluid has metal in it which replaces lost metallics in the clutches. I replaced all the fluid in mine to DW1. As per Honda it is recommended that you make at least 3 changes, 100 miles apart so as to get all the DW1 in the transmission. And, Yes, Changing the fluids "DOES" correct shifting concerns. There are also Shift Solenoids outside the transmission that fail and can cause shifting problems. I do like your video. And, Yes, you are correct about Honda not making their own fluids. Great video

    4:08 The level may not be too high, it may be above the temperature that you're meant to take a reading. For my car, the temperature is 81 degrees C, but the fluid can get hotter than that, and I can take a reading above the mark after a long drive...the manual suggests around a 15min drive, for my car.

    • @pigeonsil240sx
      @pigeonsil240sx 2 года назад

      this is whey they want you to drive for 15 min so engine is at the most accurate temperture and they want you to read dipstick no more then a minute after shutdown.if his engine was running hotter then normal that could cause higher then normal fluid level,you could get service info specs and see what engine operated temp is and compare that with those gun thermometer but thats kinda overkill

    • @godfirst6880
      @godfirst6880 4 года назад +3

      Don't do a flush..just a change.
      If you flush it, then you'll be flushing everything out of it, including every piece of metal shavings.
      I know that's what you want BUT those that small amount of metal shavings keep the torque converter in your transmission engaged.
      If you don't believe me, RUclips it.

    • @kevansantos6985
      @kevansantos6985 4 года назад

      GodFirst what are the symptoms of the torque converter not functioning properly? The reason I ask is that it’s acting up again. It shifts a tad hard, but it at least doesn’t get stuck in first anymore. And at random my tachometer will cut out. No biggie, it’s not my speedometer, and I can generally feel/hear my rpm’s and when it shifts no problem. Any ideas?

    Hello, I had a quick question. I bought this car a while ago. And I've been doing maintenance on it, but in the time I've owned it, I never changed the fluid, and I don't think the previous owners did either. If I change the fluid now after all this time and mileage, could it cause problems? My car drives fine, the transmission doesn't have any issues that I know of. I'd more be doing this as a tune up or touch up. But if it'll cause more problems I'd rather just leave it.
