I’m 70 years old and my hair is natural gray, I mean silver!😂. I had an allergic reaction to dye a few years ago and was told by my dermatologist that I could not color my hair anymore because it could be dangerous. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. It is also long and I constantly get compliments which I greatly appreciate. Your hair is beautiful and so healthy looking. We never had to conform to any rules society had put out there about age and hair length. The thing is a lot of woman get old and lazy. They go and tell the hairstylist to please cut their hair short because they don’t want to have to bother too much with it anymore. Imagine that? At a time in life when they probably have more free time than ever, they don’t want to spend a small amount of time on their hair. That will never be me.

I think long hair looks fabulous on older women personally! People should wear their hair the way they want to. That being said though - even looking at it analytically - I also love short hair on younger women (And being in my mid 50s, I often envy it a little bit!) Short hair, if full and feminine, really sets off a youthful jaw line, good skin, shoulders, and body more confidently than long hair in many cases. I miss being able to wear my hair shorter like I did in my 30s, LOL. However - I felt short hair is definitely more work - does either a really good hair day or a really bad hair day. Having almost shoulder length hair definitely allows for more flexibility and quick touchups more so than a chin length bob did, LOL.
Speaking for myself though - I’m wondering if some of the older women might cut hair shorter due to arthritis concerns. I’m in my mid 50s, and just within the past 12 months my osteoarthritis has increased exponentially. Thankfully, my wrists don’t have it yet, but my fingers and my ability to write or grasp has gone down by 50% just within the past year or so. That could be a factor why some women want to change their grooming routine maybe.

Sadly, her own daughters convinced her she was too old to wear her hair long, because it just wasn’t socially acceptable. As a result, this elegant lady was no longer easy to locate in a crowd, but instead simply blended in with all the other elderly grey and white headed women. Cutting your hair shorter as an older woman is a very old mindset. I remember my grandmother and mother saying the same thing. I believe it's been a belief carried down over several generations.
The funny thing about me (I'm 55) is my hair was always short when I was young, by choice. After the age of 40, I started to let it grow longer. :) No regrets!

My mom and grandma had short hair, but my great grandma had waist length long hair she kept up in a bun. I though short hair started as an act of modern rebellion in the 1920's? Either way, long or short now, I agree with Angie and you that it's up to the individual woman.

I agree, that short is passed down form the previous generations. My wife 52 and her mom both go to the barbershop and get the same mens flat tops cuts. Her mom has had a "man's" flat top for over 40 plus years and talk my Wife into getting the same cut on her 30th birthday. (22 years ago) Saying it was a good no fuss mature mom cut to have. I ask my wife if she going to maybe go long but she said the flat top is just so easy with no daily maintenance. Her mom pays for the constant up keep. They say it's a girls day out. Do I have a say or let her and mom do their thing?

I’ve always had long hair and I’m close to 62! I just feel more feminine and it’s more versatile to work with. The key is to keep it looking good is trimming the ends and moisturize it so it stays healthy and strong. I’m fortunate because my hair is thick, wavy, so I can wear it naturally or straighten it. Whenever I have cut my hair short in the past, I felt it aged me and it was harder to style. To each her own… if you feel beautiful in long or short hair… you do you❤️

Happy Saturday Angie! As you can see in my picture I too have long hair and I'm definitely 60, this past April. I definitely don't let society tell me how long my hair should be. Long hair is youthful. There's this co worker of mine that always lets me know that she can't believe I'm 60. I;m a very modern 60. I don't know what her family members look like at 60 but you, me and all the other beautiful fashionista's are doing our own thing! I love your channel.

Yes, I also noticed how your hair was long and I thought it was cool. I absolutely love your message to all women to diss the old-fashioned rules or what we should and shouldn't do. We are not aging like our parents so why should we still behave like them? On a side note, congratulations on how you take care of your body to keep it healthy and beautiful. I also think you pair it nicely with a youthful style and personality. You inspire me, and I think you are absolutely gorgeous inside and out, regardless of how many candles were on your last birthday cake.

Love your long hair. I'm 68 yrs. and have my long hair back due to Covid. It's also All Gray (platinum). I had my last child at 44 yrs. old. I stopped coloring my hair at 56 and everyone kept telling me to color it. Thank God, younger woman wanted platinum hair color. I let my hair grow out Gray and never regretted it. I haven't had my hair this long since high school and love it. I am soooo glad I found you during Covid. You are an amazing woman.❤️

I realize this particular video is several months old, but girl.....I have the EXACT same type of hair....all the way down the the cowlicks...even same side! Up until the last two years, I could never grow my hair past my shoulders. My success has mostly come from using Olaplex products. Currently, my hair is about the exact same length as yours, and I'm LOVING it! I have also gone through the same length/age battle. However, I have decided to revel in every inch! Thank you for all you do. Especially helping us more "wise" ladies feel beautiful in these well earned years!

My mother had long hair over age 50. She would set it in pin curls and it always looked fabulous. Everyone loved her long hair. I just turned 47 and my hair is a few inches past my shoulders. I have zero plans of cutting it short, ever! Not everyone looks good in shorter hair, regardless of their age. I've seen women my age that cut their hair short and it aged them about 15 years!

I think your long hair is beautiful. I'm a 50+ woman who could care less what anybody thinks of my long hair. I grew it out during the pandemic, and to my surprise it actually grew. I'm beginning to get areas of thinning, and I know others who have lost their hair during menopause. Heck! I'm grateful to have hair at my age.
    Keep doing YOU!

Thank you for saying this! Growing up I heard that comment about “older women shouldn’t have long hair” and I was always sad that I’d have to cut it short at some point. What a load of crock! We can do whatever we want, and you’re evidence that women over 50 can totally rock long hair!:)

“Any kind of hair is a blessing.” Period. GREAT video Angie💗, it makes me angry that in this day and age, younger women can look completely trashy and/or fake and they are worshipped simply because of their youth if we’re being honest. Yet society wants to judge a gorgeous mature woman over the length of her hair. How dumb. And YES😀, your hair is looking lovely!! I am the same age as you and my hair is similar to yours in length. Love you, love your channel🌸🌼🌺🌷💐🌻

Absolutely love your comments about being put in an older woman box. I am your age and have long hair and while I keep thinking maybe it's time to cut it then I say no way!! More power to us! I am never giving up on what makes me feel good. By the way I am a RELIGIOUS follower of yours. Using your skin care routines for two years. My skin Never looked better although still battling some under eye issues. Wrinkles and puffiness. Working on it. Love you!! Keep doing what you do!!

Angie, you are beautiful and look amazing whatever length your hair is. I’m 63 and wear my hair long and I don’t blow it out at all. I just let it dry naturally. My hair is very wavy and thick. I don’t care what other people think! I feel beautiful with my long hair!!

Amen Sister! ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 Nobody needs to tell us how to wear our hair and how to dress! Because of Covid I ended up growing my hair very long, let it stay it’s natural color (silvery gray), cut it myself into long layers and amazingly, at age 62, I’ve gotten more compliments on my hair than I ever have in my whole life! Loved this video! 💕💖💕

Thank you so much for this video! I broke up with my hairdresser because he kept cutting off my hair, telling me I was too old for long hair. It made me look so matronly. Your videos all are so encouraging.
