@justinhicox Justin I have a question about your thoughts on Valoom iron for adding volume ❓❓ it always seems to me like that would damage the hair? Would love to hear what you think. THANK YOU! 😊
Natural medicine doctor here! Nutrition absolutely plays into hair loss. What is second most important is hormones. Make sure your hormone levels are correct. Menopausal women lose estrogen- which will change hair thickness, and give you that wide part and thin hair. Estrogen therapy does wonders and you’ll feel better. Don’t be afraid of identical estrogen/ it improves your life quality, gives you back your lustrous hair, and plumps your skin. Also a fun tip- eat two Brazil nuts a day to keep your selenium levels at a good level. ❤
What about when you are post menopausal and you have been on HRT since you were 36 but now on a low dose because as you get older they decrease it due to breast cancer risks...what natural remedies can you take then..also take Synthroid and have since I was 39, Hashimoto's killed my thyroid, I am now 63 (as of yesterday😊)
I’m not so sure. While I absolutely ADORE Justin, I don’t typically agree with his choices of cut. Doesn’t stop me from watching and learning from him though!
A cut like his wife has, which can be styled three different ways, would look great on Angie. A fresh look for summer. I'm going to be getting a similar cut myself.
Justin is a Godsend to woman and their hair issues. I have followed Angie since before Covid. My skin has never looked better. These two are such a great help to give amazing fresh info. about how to take care of ourselves and to look our best as we age.
Hang in there. I have been dealing with this for 15 years (55 right now). It does get easier. You get better at styling and working with it. Just start that minoxidil and, if you can afford it, get a hairmax product. These 2 items are the only things for androgenic based hairloss. Other forms of hairloss use different products. Anyway. You are NOT alone.
Can really appreciate how educated Angie is when she sitting with another expert discussing the same topic... also appreciate how great her skin is when its not under the same lighting condition. 😍 I don't believe there's anyone out there that can make 61 look better.
This video was an "ah-ha" moment for me! This whole time I've been using biotin thinking it would help my extreme thinning, and yes, my nails have been growing, but so was my hair and no thickness! I'm changing my strategy after watching this! I was lucky to have the genetics for thick, long hair. Now, at 55, menopausal and chemo treated, my hair is so thin that ponytails are not an option. Shocker! It has taken a toll on my confidence, but I am determined to put the work in!
I bought my HairMax hairband two years ago based on your recommendation and I absolutely love it! One of the best purchases I've ever made and still using it weekly.
She is so right about hair impacting our daily life. I didn't understand when my mom used to complain to me and now I complain to her and tell her I now feel her pain. We laugh but we both inside ourselves know it's painful to age. Embrace it if you can! ❤
I love my Hair Band! I have had 3 surgeries in the last year and this hair band absolutely saved me...i saw my stylist a few days ago and she was super impressed by how "normal" my hair looked (she had told me prior to surgery to expect to my hair to thin significantly). Thank you, again, Angie!! ❤
For me, my hair is my crowning glory and the root of my femininity, so I was devastated when my hair thinned during menapause. It took forever to come back but it is not close to what it used to be.
Never thought I would experience this. My entire family died with a full head of hair. I'm 66 and pulled the female pattern baldness card. I still feel fortunate that we have so much available to us, today. Angie, purchased the red light. Thank you both for this very informative and timely (for me) video.
I have alopecia. Cking with your doctor or a dermatolagist might help.
4 месяца назад
PRP, injections with a lot of vitamins, and minoxidil are ver good for those who have alopecia. A doctor will vive you a lot of exams and se the body as general. Sorry for my english☺️
@@recuerdos2457 I hope this helps you. The dermatologist I've been seeing for a year in Brazil always puts this helmet on the patient 15 minutes before a PRP or intradermal session. She said it's an adjuvant treatment. I'm also taking minoxidil and have had very good results. I have androgenetic alopecia. It's a shame that the treatment is very expensive, but instead of buying the helmet I would invest in the treatments.
I can't use 2 hands at once either while drying my hair so one thing that I do so I can use a round brush while drying is that I have a hair dryer stand so that my hair dryer is stationary and not being held and then I can use the brush and just stand in front of it.
6:53 This! It's helpful for them to check your Ferritin levels as well. It's involved in storing and releasing iron. I'm so grateful for my derm. She really knew all the things to look for and to determine the right prescription for me. I look at my older videos and the changes in my hair is huge!
I agree & am trying to get my levels up but I have malabsorption so it's not that easy to raise levels of anything even tho I eat very well (on alot of beef/eggs right now) plus take supplements - also (Lugols) iodine is key too
@@c4caffeen134 It can be so tricky as my iron wasn't technically deficient but my ferritin was soooooo deficient. Your doctor has to know to look for that or it can be a contributor to hair loss but easily overlooked. ~~~ I'm sorry to hear about your malabsorption. I bet that's frustrating to be doing the right things, but have trouble raising your levels. I'm sending you all the best as you navigate this. 💗
@@bertalippert Thank you so much🧡🧡 And I completely agree with you & doctors on how tricky some of these things are. Most of us didn't even know about ferritin. I just learned a few months ago in my digestion/hypothyroid chaos. Did you have lethargy with low ferritin? What were your symptoms? Lethargy is probably what bothers me the most each day - - I'm a very PEPPY person & love being happy and "up".... my coffee barely helps now. It's my own fault from not being able to quit sugar & carbs for years & I'm paying dearly but it's retraining me to eat properly so I appreciate that it got me away from that when I couldn't do it 😀
Iron deficiency in older women can be so confusing, and there can be so many factors involved like Ferritin levels & malabsorption. You've got a good dr. there who knew what else to look for!
Two of my favorite content creators. Both deep dive into their areas of expertise to give us the best advice and suggestions. I've learned a lot and am so grateful. Thank you ❣️
This was really interesting and informative. Justin was great and Angie you have the best way of cutting the crap and breaking it down to science. Thank you!
I have been suffering from the AA form of hair loss for 15 years now. I still have more hair than I expected to. I agree. Minoxidil is really the ONE that works. I have a hairmax and I am not faithful about using it I keep telling myself... use it! And i love hair fibers. They make a huge difference.
Great video ❤ my derm gave me a scalp prescription, plus a minoxidil spray, I use rosemary oil mix with other oils, supplements, and a red light cap. It’s becomes a full time job. Very frustrating! Last year I cut chin length, mistake on hairdresser, but got rid of dead ends that’s for sure. I think hormones and thyroid are very important.
Getting older really is the gift that keeps on giving isn't it? And it is so frustrating the amount of products/treatments/work we have to put in to reverse some of these "gifts of aging"! Not everyone wants to do it but I know for many it's worth the effort... I just wish it was easier... 💜
Just before Christmas 23, I bought a Hairmax 82 band. It was a very considered purchase, but I am so glad I did. I had overall thinning and it's made such a difference. It's only become noticeable in the last month or so. My husband hasn't seen such obvious results, but he's just pleased his hair isn't getting any thinner. Looking at the NuFace Trinity next! Thanks Angie because I really is helping by confidence.
@@Aurla-R2-D2 every other day. It takes about 90 seconds. We have it by our tv. If someone unexpectedly visits, one of us answers the door while the other one hides it.
With Minoxidil, i think it should be noted that is one of those that you must continue using once you start it. Any hair growth from it can just fall back out if you stop using it. Highly recommend finding a great dermatologist that puts on their website that they treat hair loss before even starting Minoxidil. Also, the one she flashed on the screen is the one to get! The serum is less heavy than the foam and less irritating, and Costco sells a 6 pack for about $20. When used once a day (typical protocol for women using 5%), it lasts me a year.
I highly recommend oral minoxidil. I have had incredible results from this. I had hair thinning over a few years, and then a lot of hair loss after a major surgery . The oral minoxidil (plus collagen & vitamin supplement) has worked wonders 💖
I think genetics play the biggest part in what we start out with. Both my parents had great hair, which thankfully they passed on to me, however being post menopause at 59yo I’ve noticed some thinning during the last couple of years and at first I thought maybe it was my tretinoin but now I’m thinking it’s more hormonal. Thanks for the video, very informative.
Great video!! Lots of info for the uninformed. Going to share with friends who need this. I have thinning hair but have naturally curly hair and don’t use a round brush. Kinda given up on fighting it with wigs that I can change styles whenever I want. The curl pattern is crazy ugly and just too much work.
Great topic. I wash my hair every other day. The night before, I derma roll the areas I need it and use men's minoxidil. I buy the small Kirkland brand bottles from Amazon. I do not use the syringe it comes with. I pour a small bottle into a small glass bottle with a spray nozzle. For me so much less messy. Rub it in well, then wash hands. I wash my hair the next morning. I have seen a lot of benefit using this method. I never round brush my hair dry. Though I'm sure it would give me more body, I don't like the payoff of the feeling I get using mousse. I do use a leave in conditioner, but I do not like some of the heat styling sprays. Bedhead makes my hair feel stiff. I'd rather have a softer feel, so I use Kristin Ess. Soft hair is hard to hold curl, but I rarely curl it the first day anyway, just straighten out the kinks. The second day holds curl well. Then I use a fine mist hairspray. Unlike most, I do not like a stiff hair spray feel.
I will be 42 years old next month. When I was 38 I had Covid two times in a year and lost my dad that same year as well. I lost about 1/3 of my hair. After taking Nutrafol for 10 months, it completely brought my hair back. Those little hairs are trying to catch up, but they are making their way! After my 41st birthday, I started experiencing severe itchy scalp and tried probably 10 to 15 OTC products. In the end, the only thing that helped was doubling my collagen intake and no more itchy scalp.
Such an informative video! Love for Justin to come back to talk about organic shampoo 🆚 salon shampoo and drugstore shampoo as well. I’d love to hear his opinion on it.
Hi Angie. What a fabulous, informative video. My hair loss is a direct result from menopause and possibly some medications. Both of my girls have PCOS, and my oldest daughter actually does take minoxidil orally, of course by prescription. She definitely has had improvement. I should mention to her the laser therapy. I personally love hair fibers. Once they're placed where I need them, I use hairspray, and they don't budge. It's not Toppix, but a brand called Fibolica. Since I have auburn hair, the color is a perfect match. Thank you for having Justin on your channel. You both had some great information. Have an amazing weekend. Hugs. 🫂🥰❤️
Thanks Angie this was very informative and very useful. Would be very grateful if you could do one vlog on your diet another vlog on your exercise regime another on skincare and haircare. And yes one on what HRT you are taking and all the changes done. That would be really helpful and hopeful too
Would love a video on the potential of hair dye to cause hair loss. I have tried every laser cap, minoxidil, PRP, getting my vitamins and bloodwork checked and nothing has helped. I am 51. I have recently developed an allergy to PPD and now think it may have been causing my hair loss for the last five years. Love your channel!
thanks Angie! Struggling with some wiry hair over here; would love some non-heat-tool advice, including product recommendations. I'm out here air-drying my curly/wavy hair. (I'm also moving to natural hair dye following NYT article on cancer risk of regular commercial dyes. Just putting that out there in case anyone else going through same/similar.)
@smallnwise1 I started using a leave in conditioner to moisturize my curly hair as well as a gel and mousse layered on top to control the curl. This has improved my hair texture. I only started doing this for the last 3 years, age 66, after watching RUclips videos. I also started eating a Keto/carnivore diet. My hair is growing really well and it is getting darker, not more grey. So surprising!
Water-soluble hair products work better for curly hair; there is little build-up and products tend to be more moisturizing. I use Raw Curls and my hair is now in really good condition. Innersense is another water-soluble brand liked by a lot of people.
I like this guy - I watch his channel occassionally. As far as I personally am concerned, de-stressing will have to be at the top of my list, not last thing on the list because if you're eating stressed out, your food won't do your body much good. And exercise is a stress to your body so I do that in moderation. If I may.... I've been trying to consume ACV before eating a small salad before eating my protein, before I eat my starches, before I eat my fat ( I learned to do this from the French female biolologist, I think she is). And I do a little walking up and down the stairs throughout each day and then I started incorporating a few sit ups almost every day and I mean a few - like 3-10, if I can make it and that's it. I don't stress if I can't do more than those. :)
Great tips! I'm going to try the Toppik since I've been unhappy with the Edit and L'oreal root touch up sprays. We just bought the Hairmax 82 and hoping to see results in a few months. Thanks for the great information.
I was given spironolactone and was told to buy monoxidil $195.00 in Australia for three months. The female packet didn't work, so started on the male 10 percent..after 1 year I've noticed zero results other than extreme dandruff and sores, irritation on the scalp. I'm 50 and my hair is whispy fly away it's barely there. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjogrens, and doctors are like 'oh well' 🤦..I've had to put up with a lot in life..now this, my eyebrows are almost all gone, my face is sprouting things it shouldn't be. damn
I'm so sorry to hear the treatments didn't work for you but before giving up I'd see a dermatologist or hair specialist because there are other treatments they could recommend. My friend couldn't use topical minoxidil either because it irritated her scalp. Hope you find some help. xo ~a.
@MarisaPaola Have you tried Castor oil topically for regrowth on scalp, brows, lashes? It's inexpensive and I have had results. Make sure you get the hexane free kind in a dark glass bottle. There are other more expensive things to try like latisse, I just haven't tried those yet so I can't speak on them. As far as the random stiff chin hairs that began cropping up, I zapped them with one of those laser hair removal devices. The same kind you use on your legs.
This was a great video. So much information to help those of us who are experiencing hair loss. I appreciate all of the research you do before presenting your videos.
I just started taking Oral Minadoxil a month ago and hope it helps. Lost hair in the past and now at 63 just started losing ALOT of hair. It s really depressing and does affect my self esteem. Hope it stops soon. I am seeing a dermatologist but next looking into estrogen therapy. Hope I am not too late! Great video! Love you both!
This is happening to me in my middish 50s (large amounts of hair in my brush=panic!) but I also have leakygut, low thyroid so I know that's a huge factor - I started a Saw Palmetto DHT blocker (several caps a day) and it's really stopped alot of it ! 🙏🏼thankfully. It's saved my hair so far but will watch the video now🧡 I watch his channel sometimes & love him
@@annemichaels5368 The only bad thing about this one that I know works & have used in the past is that it has a filler or 2 in it.. The iron is taken out on vitamins for women post menopause due to the fact we don't lose that amount of blood every month anymore. To much iron could actually be damaging to the body, so always check at dr's office before starting to take it if not fertile anymore.
Yes - after we cease menstruating ingesting/absorbing excess iron (accounting for dietary sources) can increase risk for cardiac issues. Smart to consult your internist/primary care doctor and dermatologist before adding iron. My dermatologist ran several tests specific to medical sources of my hair loss (male pattern in a sixty-something female) before recommending treatment, coordinating with internist/general health records.
Doctors are not very good about checking Ferritin levels and if they do, don't pay much attention to low levels. I had a Ferritin level of 14 and was told it was fine, as my hair was falling out in clumps. I got rid of that doctor. I found another doctor who told me for hair growth Ferritin should really be above 50. I started Iron supplementation and I got my levels up. Much later, I found out the reason for the low ferritin was due to Celiac disease (that wasn't diagnosed for another almost 10 years). Great video Angie! It is devastating to have hair loss.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the one simplest, most effective treatment you can do yourself at home for hair growth and hair thickness: dermarolling the scalp!
Hi Angie, I love your content on your videos! Thanks you! I have a question... You talked about the liquid minoxidil being messy. I'm wondering if you know about the minoxidil pill? I've been taking it for a year and my hair is as thick as it was in high school! I am ecstatic about it! I never would have tried the liquid minoxidil since I have curly hair and wash my hair about twice a week so the liquid was definitely out of the question. Just wanted to bring that to your attention 😊
Enjoyed this video! I have recently had 2 bunion surgery’s , and each surgery has caused some shedding . I use this product called, phyto serum for your hair. It’s less drying to your hair. It’s made a big difference! One thing that wasn’t mentioned is thyroid get that checked out as well.
Great Video. I recently discovered a tear drop brush and it to took me a while to see the benefits. It has a variation of bristles. My hair is looking more full as a result. I'd love to see Justin Hickox do your hair Angie! Thank you for this video Angie.
I have tried all of this but minoxidil, with no results, since I first noticed thinning in my early forties. Thought it was thin then, but fast forward to now at 56 and it’s very thin all over my head, versus five years ago where it was just thin on top. I’m betting it’s all minoxidil and not the laser. I am very thin and my OB/GYN said you store estrogen in fat cells. I think that’s my whole problem.
Angie - you are so brilliant and truly a gift to women as they age! I'm so glad I found you. I'm getting my pierced ears fixed. A cosmetic surgeon is closing my original ear holes and piercing it 6 weeks later. My ear holes have stretched to the point that my earrings fall through the holes! 😮 Imagine my surprise the first time this happened! I dont want to lose some really good earrings! I don't know if any other older women have this. Headed to the Outer Banks in the am for a week! Can't wait! I have a little male pattern baldness but I truly used to have so much hair it was almost too much. It's good right now!
For anyone with thyroid issues: biotin supplements will interfere with your thyroid bloodwork. So definitely let your endocrinologist know that you take biotin so you'll know how far in advance of any bloodwork you'll need to stop it. Also, if you're on medication for thyroid (whether it's underactive or overactive), talk to your endo. ❤
I started having alopecia when I was 55. I have had every treatment. I finally gave up and just try to style it accordingly. Wigs made me crazy. It definitely started with stress and a hormone based diet.
I can 100% vouch for the Hairmax LaserBand! I started using it when I lost 75% of my thick, straight, elbow length hair in less than 2 weeks after a medical issue 3 years ago. My hair grew back incredibly fast, just as thick, and 2B/C wavy! The only downside is that I need to color my roots every 3 weeks because my hair grows 1cm+ in that time, which is double my previous growth rate. (I use it at least 5 nights/week for longer than the recommended 90 seconds.) I am more than willing to spend the time wearing it while doing a few evening chores because of the results it gives me!
@@Aurla-R2-D2 I use it until the battery runs out, so 45 minutes total in 5 positions on my scalp while I'm doing stuff around the house. I spoke with their lead researcher when I got it & he told me using it longer would not guarantee me any better results, but it would be better to use it for longer in one treatment than using it for multiple 90 second treatments per day. I chose to go to the maximum (because I was in a crisis at first, and I continued because it became an easy habit that gives me great results). Each time you press the power button, it will run for a 10 minute cycle with a buzz every 30 seconds. The first 3 positions I use are across the top of the head like they show for the 90 second treatment. Then, I slide it up under my hair from the nape of my neck across my occipital bone for a cycle & across the nape of my neck for the last few minutes.
My hair is thicker than ever after using the iRestore for a year. No more extreme shedding . And I added collagen into my vitamin regime. Also the instructions from Justin and Chris Jones. Got all the stuff they recommend from brushes from Fromm and mousse.
Awesome! I'm glad iRestore worked for you. I tried it years ago and it was so tight on my head I found it too uncomfortable to use but I know many people love it!

But it is very difficult for me to use Google Translate every time. If you could please add Turkish language to the automatic translation, I would be very happy. Thanks.
I know multiple people dealing with hair loss after COVID, so don’t forget that possibility as part of long COVID. None of them have figured out what to do for regrowth. If you have any information on the COVID factor, please share.
Great video and lots of awesome tips! I finally started applying mousse all over ( and not just at the roots for volume) and found my go -Alter Ego Whipped cream mousse works really well for flexible style and control and helping with the frizzes. Will try the topix for more volume!
My sister is a hairstylist for 20 years and she recommended me the Ibera Paris, the colostrum line, which is a fertilization therapy done once a month with colostrum and it requires also the use of a daily serum. It has several steps. Lots of massages, it is expensive and requires heat to activate the product, but it’s the only thing that revives boldness and thickness hair. My husband bold spot is full of hair, we couldn’t believe it. We see quite an improvement in 3 months. I never recommend a product before and I was pretty skeptical but this therapy is based on science, so I tried it. Like on everything else, consistency is the key.

You mean low ferritin causes hair loss ?

This was really interesting and informative. Justin was great and Angie you have the best way of cutting the crap and breaking it down to science. Thank you!
I would’ve liked hearing more from Justin about preventatives up to half way into this.
Wow this was amazing love to see him do a video doing your hair see you soon ❤
This was a great video!! I have been experiencing hair loss and will be using some of these products and ideas. Thank you both so much!
Glad it was helpful!
So happy HairMax is working for you!!

My hair was falling out in the sink getting washed at the hairdresser. I had lost 40 lbs in a very short amount of time from a Low carb diet.
What a fantastic episode! Thanks so much!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good video!
Question Angie: would the hair growth, in pill form, make hair grow else wear? Like eyelashes, above lip, etc.
great question!
Love you both! Glad to watch the meet up! ❤
Taking oral minoxidil.. it’s been 4 months and I had shedding and now it’s growing back !
Awesome!!
Same! I didn't start to see a difference until month 4, so it's important to be patient!
Oral?
Me too!!! Almost one year with oral minoxidil 5% and I can't believe my thickness is back. It works!! 😊
Couldn’t tolerate minoxidil but am getting treatment with a professional laser cap. It’s already starting to come back! ❤❤

Our pleasure!! Have a great weekend Jennifer!
Which collagen?
Yay!! So glad to see Justin. Y’all are two of my favorites ❤

You can find a company that makes hair color without PPD on the net called Biokap
thanks Angie!
Justin has a video on hair texture changes that might answer your question: ruclips.net/video/4vpoyre1UuQ/видео.html
Me too!
I would love to have some ideas for round brushes for VERY fine hair. Thank you
Great, Great, Great. Thank you both!!!!
Hope you find some help. xo ~a.
@MarisaPaola
Have you tried Castor oil topically for regrowth on scalp, brows, lashes? It's inexpensive and I have had results. Make sure you get the hexane free kind in a dark glass bottle. There are other more expensive things to try like latisse, I just haven't tried those yet so I can't speak on them. As far as the random stiff chin hairs that began cropping up, I zapped them with one of those laser hair removal devices. The same kind you use on your legs.
Thanks guys, I was giving up. I've taken notes and motivated again..💕

Rosemary or Castor oil are great options and dirt cheap wallet friendly. It has done wonders on my hair. I’m 55.
I have been using the Toppik hair fiber to cover my parting and to cover up the grays/whites before my next hair dye and it's really works

My mom(she’s in her 70s) has tried nutrafol & loves it! ❤ her doc says she shouldn’t take the oral minoxidil bc of her blood pressure.

Angie is an expert, too!

How costly is it? Thanks!!
I'm afraid to use minoxidil because I have hirsutism.
Hi, How many minutes do you use it for? Cheers ^_^
