With the key in the truck, press and hold the start button until all the gauges light up… about 7 seconds. That will be in pure accessory mode. We also battery run down protection…
Turns out you hold the start button down for like 2-3 seconds, a version of accessory enables and it works. If you just hit the start button, that accessory won’t power the tailgate. Thanks for getting me started down the right direction.
I checked the bed 120 outlet in my refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra and it worked while in “full accessory” mode. You must place fob in vehicle, then press and hold the start button until all the dash lights come on, then you’re in full accessory mode and can now use the bed outlet for small items such as phones, laptops, speakers and small electric saws.
Did it time out? I've heard it will only stay in that mode for 10 minutes but I never checked
This works!
Thank You for all of your videos that you did.
Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for the video! Love the C8 pictures!
That C8 is a great spec!
Just checked my ‘21 with the 120 outlet and it will turn on and work in accessory mode
Really! Do you have a push button start or the key ignition? I'm wondering if that makes a difference
@@DaveBsellsChevy I have the key.
I have a 2023 and it doesn’t work at all do I need to do anything I’m missing ?
The only reason I watch these videos is to understand new vehicle inventory (very little), and see what a car salesman actually does all day (not much).
Yup, these days are way different than those in the past.
It would be nice if that outlet worked in accessory mode, but it would need some way to automatically manage the power flow as if a users wasn’t thinking and plugged in regular appliances it would kill a 12v battery pretty quick unless the alternator was running. Not a phone charger or a little fan but a hot plate or a tv would leave you with a dead battery after your tail gate. Chevy may have gotten tired of too many calls for roadside assistance from stadiums parking lots.
Dave B plugs Chevy. Get it? Plugs Chevy. Sometimes I crack myself up.
I'm 23 years old right out of school Just started at a gm store.....thats exact car is the first car I sold on Friday hahah
Congrats on your first sale!!
@@DaveBsellsChevy thanks Dave! Dealing with the inventory shortage is a little bit hard when most things that come in are spoken for…. But making do with it!
Good news, you can still run your car radio in Acc mode! For 5-10 minutes anyway before the car completely shuts off. Lol
I have a 2022 Trail boss with the key start and the power outlet does not work unless the truck is running. Absolutely stupid by Chevy.
That’s so you don’t run your battery down.
@@johnhackman9994then why even have that outlet then😂
The outet is useless!!!
Why not plug in a portable battery/power station to charge while you're driving, then use that to power your devices? Unless you have an auxiliary battery, running devices off the truck's power is a bad idea because of the possibility of depleting the only way of starting your vehicle. This is especially true if you're somewhere remote. With a portable power station, you can top it off while you drive and always have the power you need upon arriving at your destination. Depending on the rating/capacity of the station, you can safely power all sorts of heavy draw devices, like a fridge or blender, and not worry about killing your truck battery.
My 22 Ram works on/off
Go to settings in infotainment and you will see option to keep outlets working while vehicle is off
I looked in there and couldn't find it. Can you provide a more detailed description of where this is at in infortainment?
Put the vehicle in service mode and the outlet will work without being started. Hold engine button 5 seconds to get in service mode. This is different than just acc mode. Light will be green not amber.
Would I be able to run a paddle board pump with the outlet?
@@johnsondaniel6411 is it less than 400 watts? Than yes
I use my 120 outlet in the bed with it running. I use it with an extension cord to run lights or tools
What kind of tools? I was researching instead of just trying. Want to use circular saw to break down plywood
People riding motorcycles without helmets and they've got buckle to shift in cars.
there are ways around this. They make "dummy" seat belt buckles to fake the computer into thinking your buckled.
There is a setting that releases that.
Another 👍👍 video. Can't power 110v outlet off a regular 12v battery on an ICE engine ... It will die in a matter of minutes at full discharge of the outlet. Hybrids or EV are different.
got a new 2024 and wondering the same thing. has to push the plug in hard and the acc mode lasted almost 30 min
Ooooh, I wish Dodge had the ability to turn off the automatic dome lights. Nice!
No Equinox’s for sale anymore?!! Wow, that was the car that you had the most of this entire chip shortage. Wow, word must’ve got out.
Never been this early 🔥
Come on Chevy 😬🤔 Every time I wanna use the outlet tailgating I will get Carbon monoxide 😶🌫️
If you hold the accessories button in for five seconds the plug will work
Which sells more at your dealership, the Traverse or the Equinox?
These days hard to tell. In normal times we sold more of the Equinox with the Traverse being a close second
@@DaveBsellsChevy Thanks.
Hey Dave, what does "teen driver" on the menu do? I have two of those!
I’ve got a 2023 Silverado 2500. Has the button for the 120v. I noticed tonight when I shut of the truck all the lights were off except a dim green light on the 120v stayed on. I didn’t hit the switch to turn it on or anything. All other lights in the cab of the truck were off just a dim green light in the switch. When the outlet is actually on it is a bright green. Anyone else notice this?
I turned the accessory mode on and off. Again all the lights went out this time when turning off even dim green light that was on before was now off like it should have been the first time.
8:35 BuTTon…BuTTon!! Please pronounce it correctly.
It feels llike new car dealerships are being phased out.
Where can i get 12 volt power for my dash cam.. fuse box i cant find anything that goes to sleep
Well done Dave!!!
What happens if you plug in something that is more than 400 watts? Does the protection circuit reset by itself?
Love the vids Dave B!
Thanks Erik!
Fire videos Dave b y’all busy today I seen on the website y’all have a xc90
must be one of our other locations because I don't have an XC90 on my lot
I have a 2023 LT Trail Boss - needed the damn outlet at a jobsite - and it didn't work! Maybe I am clueless and blind, but I don't see any buttons anywhere to activate it - i called the dealer while I was on the jobsite and she said there was a button below the radio area for my vehicle - clearly I am blind. Anyway, had to go rent a small generator for a 20min job. Grr. Now I need to figure this out or if GM didn't supply all the parts (i don't have the window sticker to see if it was deleted)
Did you get this figured out? What was the solution?
@@BB-qs9tk They have not figured out why there is no power to the outlet - (3 service appts later). I have a 'specialist' appointment with their GM electronic analysis guru on the 17th of Aug. I will post his findings. Cheers
can’t you leave it in the on position ? (hold stop start button without pressing the break)
no, I tried that but it didn't work either
@@DaveBsellsChevy wow that really sucks
Nice vette
Hey my friend.
400w won't run a 14A circular saw.
I can’t get mine work not even showing green light
Was that Corvette your first 2023 vehicle at the dealership?
I think it was
First, why would you put only a 400 watt inverter in a truck? You can't even run a Skil Saw on that. I found this out the hard way. Had to take all of the lumber that wouldn't fit in my bed, that I was planning on cutting to fit, and load it up, sticking way out of the bed, to find AC power. So, I can run a radio and charge my laptop...BFD! Gimme something I actually will find value in, Chevy!
I agree, but average Joe would kill their battery in no time using it foolishly. Besides a skill saw would need a 2000 watt Inverter and that is 166 amps at full load. One would definitely need the engine running to do any more then microwave your lunch.
My plug is not working???
bro i need a 2022 chevy equinox
Lol still using those COVID screens
Are you pretty good at putting windshield stickers on straight?
take great pride in it
i have the 2024 Silverado 2500 and the power outlets are a piece of SH@# cant use it for nothing but charging your phone thats what your usb ports are for i tell people dont waste your money on that upgrade
Bu in?
How bout you talk about the actual capabilities of the plug having a 400w inverter. Anyone could have easily figured out what you were doing through their own personal ownership of the truck. People want to know what its capable of.
It's little things like this that become a thorn in one's ass. WTF is the sense of having an outlet in the bed if the truck has to be running. This is the stupidest thing and it pissed me off when I found out
Totally agree
Try to go in settings in the infotainment system and see option to have outlets work while truck is off
What did she tell her about that she didn’t have internet 🛜 so no one more
