These two legends were taking this meeting very seriously - genuinely interested on both side - It was that idiot that was dying for attention that sucked this up.s
Oooh Dave's face at the end!!! Looked like he really wanted to give Timmy Mallett a good crack! Who can blame him? I think the police would have let him off...
Luke Miles He was always a massive bellend and no doubt he still is I can't believe some moron gave him a job presenting DM were still tied into the bullshit kids pop type shows back then and they hated it 5 years later and the change is unbelievable
Dave seemed super shy and reserved in interviews when he was in his 20s. If you see current interviews of him now, he is much more open and comfortable! Love him either way!
david lister Dave was always the trend setter and even came up with the name Depeche Mode which literally means "fast fashion"... I mean, look at his blazer! And he actually used the word quiff haha
@@kramer26 The real story behind the name of the group is that they took it from a french magazine that they saw ... I don't know exactly where; but the name of the magazine was precisley, well : Depeche Mode
Pls, not Vince. He did two great things. First, he started the band and composed their first album and singles. Just Can´t Get Enough is immortal although I am not crazy about the song, I prefer Photographic much more. Second good thing Vince did was leaving the band. Depeche need a good producer. Stuff Alan did. I fucking love Alan.
I think the part with the guy wearing spectacles was planned ... Youngsters watching it today may misunderstand, but that's no big deal, in reality ! Though he sure looks and sounds a bit "stupid", he "killed" nobody, neither did he insult anyone or be rude or shocking; I think it was just a short moment meant to be funny, that's all; and - once again - I believe it was planned (though I might be mistaken about this) ! To me anyway, it's O.K. : the guy brings some tea to his mate, it's rather O.K., even though he fills the cup with too much sugar while the other has his attention distracted; but : that's it ! It seems to entertain the audience, and it even made somebody happy, since the girl in the front row seemed to enjoy it; so : really, no big deal ! As for the interview itself : it was rather interesting to see the two of them (Vince Clarke and Dave) re-united in this show ... I just think it's a pity there was not the end of the video where Village People performed "Sex Over The Phone", their (then) new release from 1985 ... (I never knew Village People were still active till the mid-1980s, and by memory, I remember it was a very catchy stuff, far away from their earlier/late 1970s disco stuff, and up to date with what was being done around '85)
What a bizarre arrangement, Dave co-hosting alongside the awful Timmy Mallet, and interviewing his former bandmate. If Mallet had ***ked off, that might have been a reasonable piece Quite a short lived look for Dave, blond hair and stubble
Because that's all there was. No internet, no social media, no RUclips. Just random TV programs aimed at promotion; magazines, and radio interviews. DM specifically got the shaft a lot in Britain because of their initial, out-of-the-gate boy band image, which the Press refused to let them live down. So these kiddy shows were always being booked by Mute Records because the major ones rarely let them on, which is why they loved going on MTV in American.
They disbanded in late 1987, they released two singles: TV Glare and Can't You See, one with very very moderated promotion and the other with no promotion at all, they were going to release an album and they recorded it and was produced by John Fryer in May 1987 but it remained unreleased because the band split up, they were too burned out to deal with labels at that point although EMI and RCA were interested in them and EMI bought the album from Reset, but they were too frustrated since everything was just a mess, they only reached to tour around the UK with only 14 dates and with Eric Radcliffe as their manager

CHRIST !...I WONDER HOW VINCE AND DAVE KEPT COMPOSURE IN NOT NAILING MALLET WITH A DAM GOOD HARD RIGHT HOOK AND DM BOOT IN THE GUT...
Dave seemed super shy and reserved in interviews when he was in his 20s. If you see current interviews of him now, he is much more open and comfortable! Love him either way!
And Vince is still just as shy!
Vince and Dave look like babies
they were, I mean 23 or something like that
Yep ... youth !
Annoying host, annoying audience...
I think this is actually a fine interview. I think that Mallet guy was the one ruining it for Dave and Vince!
I love how Dave asks the dork to take away the tea he so rudely interrupted the interview with.
Look at lovely vinces hair...he was such a trend setter....everyone has that style now...this interview is fucking painful...
david lister Dave was always the trend setter and even came up with the name Depeche Mode which literally means "fast fashion"... I mean, look at his blazer! And he actually used the word quiff haha
@@kramer26 If you count "came up with" as stole it from the french magazine of the same name, then .. yes.

I don't like this. I feel like people was not paying atention to Vince and Dave. Also the annoying dude offering tea
'dude'? thats timmy mallet of mallets mallets fame kiddo
Yeah, Timmy Mallet was a pretty annoying tit of a man but he got good guests.
@@wattage2007 was? Has he ever stopped? lol
Good chance that Timmy was snorting some lines in the green room beforehand.
Vince has got something of Bowie about him and Dave reminds me of Boy George in this clip.
*for god sakes just take it away*

Hell no. Erasure is still doing great. DM has been in a coma for 20 years
@dcny69 Definitely not now, sell out tours all over!!!
Where are they now #342: Timothy Mallet. I rest my case!
Vince has on ‘skinny jeans’ WTF? 1981
1985
1985 inspired a lot of the contemporary style.
We had skinny jeans in 1985
Except that this was not recorded in '81, but in 1985 ...
So stupid and unprofessional.
Band called Boże Boże !? Sounds very familiar
Timmy Looks like Miami vice Here
Ken Rosenberg
Enjoy the silence
What a bizarre format of a show! Why is the audience allowed to chatter? But cool to see Dave interview his former bandmate.
Vince forgot his dm,s excuse the pun! Doc martins not depeche mode! I heard that they took em off him cause it might've kicked off with him n dave!
is that Alan Wilder in the black jacket on the right at 0:53 ?

Keren Valencia Si , pero mejor dicho al Castellano !!
Awkward but funny...

I think Dave is a little bit..50/50

CRINGE 🤮🤮🤮
Felt disrespected toward Vince.

Dave looks like hes really contemplating it. Glad he kept his composure.
of what?
@@jhnyjoejoe69 sorry...@lukemiles comment below was what I was responding to.
What was this clown disturbing Dave and Vince during the interview there for? Painfully awkward to watch! Dave handled the situation very well!
Rather alan wilder...
Dave was going to kick his arse
Dave & Vince cute 😍😍😍
Holy crap how young they were there.
Oh yeah !
Хочу в прошлое.

Если бы я там была,я бы этому Тимми такое устроила,он бы очень пожалел о своих тупых шуточках.
*Physical pain*.. why was every show back then so.. so .. AWKWARD??
I can’t believe that girl actually took a drink of the sugar-water tea 😬
