Fletch said they weren't trying to start a revolution or anything... but yet he didn't know that a revolution of new music did indeed started with Depeche Mode and branched out to so many other bands even today Synth, ambiance and Sounds are being used more than ever.
No It hasn't at all!! Actually his accent's so English, a bit like Cockney, not as horrible as Cockney though... He's Still got an Essex Accent nowadays!!
@@antoniabermudezann4233 I'm an American and can tell it's diminished if you watch newer interviews with him. His accent is peppered with American slang.
If only 1986 Dave could have time travelled a message to 1990's Dave and warned him about heroin addiction, multiple (legal) deaths, and attempted suicide. The 90's were *NOT* kind to that man!
I just smile and miss my pure your for s second when watching this. Everything was Soo big and new. These guys made me open my mind a little bit and have done ever since 🤟❤️👍👌
If you listen to the 80s on 8 on XM, it's hosted by Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, and a few other former MTV hosts. I think it's awesome that they stuck with that era of music.
That was the easy part. The bit that preceded this was from 'Night Flight's New Sounds 5th Anniversary', so I had to search a bit to find its broadcast date. All for you, Andy! ;)
The host: 'did you ever consider dropping all the synthesizers that define the sound of your group and picking up the same old tired guitar, bass and drums as every other mediocre band?'
Los 80's no hubieran sido tan Grandiosos sin MTV Que mal que MTV Ya desde Finales de los 90s empezo a dejar la música a un segundo plano y despues de los 2000s ni se diga paso Hacer un canal de reality Shows
Great clip mate , any idea of exact date this took place , from what they are saying and talking about sounds like the start of the USA tour in 1986 around the end of May , Question Of Lust was released on May 28th 1986 , can you help ?
It’s indicative of how much of mere cult following Depeche had in America. Depeche had a lot of homophobic stereotyping there and there weren’t considered macho enough to be a band by most Americans’ standards until Violator in 1989.
RIP 🕯 Andy Fletcher you absolute legend. 7/8/61 - 5/26/22 💔

he wasn't musically talented . music was not his thing . but management he did a great job
Fletch was epic In Depeche Mode RIP
Dave's British accent is so much stronger here. I guess after 25+ years of living in the states it's faded.

I’m certain it comes back when he comes home though, just like it does for most of us.
@@antoniabermudezann4233can’t beat the Essex accent 👍
He’s English and he’s speaking English with an English accent.
They are being SO patient and gracious with this assery.
Holly Ambler Agreed. Gee this host was beyond awful here. I want to pick a fight with him. Poor thing probably couldn’t get the beat, ever.
@@CauseImSmokingYourMenthols How come was he awful? He's pretty nice and quite proffessional IMO.
@@jeshkam i guess ppl just like to start fights for anything
This was a nice interview, nothing wrong with it.
Dave looks so handsome here. I laughed so much at his story about sending the German tape op girl to go check on a nude Martin Gore. Lucky frau.
IT'S TRUE HE WAS NUDE WHEN HE RECORDED SOMEBODY BLESS THIS INTERVIEW
R.I.P. Andy Fletcher. Thank you for the Music & Magic, :)
Wow, this interview has never been uploaded anywhere before, thank you so much for taking the time to put this online!
My pleasure! I wish I had more early DM to share.
@@heyjoeg Do you have other stuff from MTV from around that time?
@@preciousmousse Maybe? Probably. I'll have to review the tapes.
@@heyjoeg All this stuff is cultural gold. Please look through them!
I like the way Dave says "stage" 😆😘
Good interview. The thing about Martin naked it's funny, and Dave looks so handsome, but Fletch looks sad.
I swear, Dave's british accent is exceedingly cute and makes him dishy af!!!!
his looks don't hurt either by any means.
Basildon accent

Saw them on the Black Celebration tour at the NEC Birmingham (UK) - great gig, great night.
loved the snippets of the adverts

Hot Fletch, before he looked like an accountant. (Speckies and all)
R.I.P Fletcher
cheers mate , yeah got it down to that aswell with the Karate Kid 2 advertised ;)

I like this album very much because there are some very nice songs❤
Love the Keds, Fletch.
86 great western forum , wish I still had my poster from show
Derrick Carone what’s your favorite memory of that show? Would like to know
The host: 'did you ever consider dropping all the synthesizers that define the sound of your group and picking up the same old tired guitar, bass and drums as every other mediocre band?'
Yep, that's basically what he said.
I just bought this CD today with 3 bonus remixes. $5.99
American & British so different..
We dont care where the sound comes from EXACTLY. Guitars are AWESOME but also not NECESSARY to create fantastic music
Thank you!
i never knew Dave was also the Karate Kid
Chains, yes, but chain mail?! :D
2:30 DID SOMEBODY SAY REVOLUTION
Ziggy Zig My thoughts immediately after hearing that!
Where?

With the other miscellaneous segments on this videotape, I can only narrow it down to between June 7th and 20th.
On the thumbnail I actually thought it was Martin instead of Fletch.
To think the album got no commercial airplay?
Depeche was for a long time merely a cult thing in America in the 1980’s until Violator.
dm-bomba.
2:52 Instagram?
What is the interviewer saying about guitars in DM? Wha? 🤷🏼♀️

Martin l gore, closer to nature🤔😅😅😅
Neet.
Im not familiar with the host was but damn he was great
Mark Goodman
He was actually one of MTV’s original on-air personalities when the channel launched in America.
