Dave's trust with Alan is incredible. that Dave's elbow, he kept leaning, on Alan's leg. but I see a lot of love and understanding, from Alan. And Dave, I loved him very much too. Alan once said that they were very close. Too bad time distanced them. the friendship still continues. But they are rarely seen. Long live this Great and Wonderful band DEPECHE MODE. TOUR 2023. Yeah. Going back and watching all this footage from 1993-1994, it becomes blatantly obvious that DM's problems were enormous. I think I was too young and naive at the time to recognize drug/alcohol-addled behavior. But it's rather obvious now. So SO glad they straightened out.
I love Depeche Mode. There are so many reasons. If we speaking about this video; I love them because these people are truehearted. They are not acting. They are as they are. No lies. There is no point to expect them to be perfect. They are just human beings like us. They can be depressed, or angry or exicited who knows? These days most people are more actors than actors. I don't like many singers today, because they don't have souls.
I think a clean Depeche Mode puts on the best live show. Sometimes I can't get myself to watch the Devotional concert b/c Dave is just so messed up. You can tell from his body language and his facial expressions that he was "off his rocker", as Dave put it. But if you close your eyes and listen, his voice is pure velvet. But I still think a problem-free DM puts on the best live show on the planet.

After this interview the band strolled out onto the balcony. Dave laughed at everyone waving to him from the ground floor and spat at them. Simon mayo made a quick exit muttering 'idiots' or something like that. When we all left at around 11pm all the clubbers were naffed that they had to wait until all fans left before they could start the evening. Funny night.

It's so amazing to see this after all these years - I was so bummed to never get a copy of the photo they took either - Dave was so blasted & he was thrusting his groin at me when the pic was taken that I figured I'd never see that photo released. This brings back all the memories of how nervous I was; how Martin was such a prick: Fletch was zero; Alan a gentleman; & Dave was bombed but totally hot and ogled my boobs!

Cassandra Demers totally agree I think he's being quite honest and just trying to answer questions that one can be pretty sure he had answered hundreds of times for different media functions time after time. I like that he talks straight and doesn't just tell fans what they wish to hear. I think he's sweet.

Yeah, I still remember this interview and as much as it's fun to watch it, I can't kept cringing at my stupid question. We had 5 minutes warning that we were meeting them and my mind went blank. Martin was a jerk before the live taping so when he answered the way he did I was just deflated. Yes, Dave was totally high, and Alan was such a gentleman - he knew I was nervous!
I don't really think that Martin was rude. He answered the question just as he would have in a professional interview, but he was on something because he does not talk that much in any interview I've seen up until the 2000s. I feel like Alan's comment about making bad decisions at that time was a dig towards Dave because Dave interrupted him. I don't feel like either question was that great or enlightening, but I did catch the side-eye Mart gave them before the mic was passed. Yikes. That was an "I'm done answering this question" side-eye. In conclusion, they should have had a damn manager.
fletch started to answer the guy's question but was quickly blacked out by dave n alan. i dont know if to feel sorry for fletch being so inexistent or angry cuz he looks like he's worried not to look common compared to the 'intelligent' answers of the three... at one point its only mart,alan n dave in the picture. fletch doesnt even move when all three laugh...sad.
... and the spots they chose for the interview were very representative: Fletch sat next to Martin, and Dave sat next to Alan (except from this particular moment with these guests). during the 60-minute interview, it's clear Dave and Alan were very close, and I'm sure if Dave hadn't been undergoing such difficult times, he wouldn't have let Alan leave Depeche Mode. :( By the way, nice Richey Manic pic. :) Cheers from Mexico
Ok, at the end there Dave did sound like Ozzy. But, I thought they were being their good old funny selves. Just silly (maybe drunk and high) guys having a conversation. And now that everyone is sober and healthy it's nice to be able to look back SOFD for the awesome shows that came out of it. Life experiences, no regrets.

Mar Natural He's so sweet and talented, his voice makes our ears and hearts melt, he dresses so nice and has beautiful eyes and a funny laugh, that's why most of DM fans have this huge crush on him.
