    33:24 Oh it's so funny, it's SO FUNNY to watch an extrovert as he struggles in the introvert-friendly environment. Now imagine how us introverts feel in the extrovert-driven world every day.

    I looooove Taiyaki and mochi. Especially Taiyaki with a red bean paste stuffin'. Unfortunately, It's only found once a year at a Japanese food event in my country. The mochi is available on an almost daily base though. At a local supermarket with a Japanese sushi stand. The only flavors available are chocolate and strawberry, but they are absolutely delicious.

    "It's wasted on me; I'm such a peasant!" as he dines on Michelin-quality dishes. Exactly how I felt when I was really disappointing my hosts who had taken me to a Japanese onsen (spa/inn). I wished that I had just wandered off on my own after all! I lived in Japan for two years, and had found many dishes I really liked, dishes which I make 30+ years later. But some...well....

      I love Japan and have been several times. Like you said, so much food is so delicious, but then there are some things that don’t have a lot of taste, even if beautiful to look at. One crab dinner at an onsen ryokan involved 8-9 different crab dishes, and no butter or lemon in sight. We were going to pass on the raw crab, but the serving lady helpfully took it out for us. We had to eat it. No issue with the raw part, it’s that it really didn’t taste like much plus the odd texture. I think my palate is not as developed as theirs, and I travel to eat, lol. I appreciate Paul’s honesty so much.

    Those prices are WHAT for food at that market! Anyone crazy enough to buy a strawberry for that price is a fool and not very conscious about world hunger! I'm sure it is over the top delicious but I cannot do this with a clear heart, and soul.

      It's still better than buying a $3000 handbag or a $350,000 wristwatch. That's what rich people do best, waste things.

    • @LA-qv1ir
      @LA-qv1ir 8 месяцев назад

      Many expensive things most do not see the value in them. But think about the science, and the technique that went into making that strawberry. It's just like theoretical physics, physicists get grants to do science most of us would consider wasteful due to the costs of research, but we never complain about the benefits, do we? We'd never have the internet if common people vetoed DARPA getting the milions they needed to make ARPANET.

    People complain about a strawberries too expensive at 350$ despite it being limited produce and need years and years to be perfected.
    What's the difference between this strawberries compare to the usual expensive food such as foie gras, caviar , truffles, etc.
    Esp in an era where people throws a hundred quids for an hour of watching streamer with half naked outfits playing games they didn't even develop themselves.
    🤦

    • @nntflow7058
      @nntflow7058 8 месяцев назад

      Because there are many Premium Strawberry cultivated across the world that are really sweet and looks good. Most of them only costs 2x to 4x of normal strawberry.
      Foie gras are not that expensive compared to other specialized meat. Don't put them in the same category as $350 strawberry.
      Caviar and REAL Italian Truffles are rare in nature. Humans failed to farm and cultivated those 2. So their price as justifiable.

    • @LA-qv1ir
      @LA-qv1ir 8 месяцев назад

      @@nntflow7058 have one before making that argument. Even Paul, who looks to be practical Brit, was amazed. He was built up to splurge by tasting the lower priced strawberries. He spent that 350 quid willingly.
