It's incredible to hear how intact his voice still is at an age of 72 at Montreux '09. Heard him live on a couple of occations in 1992 where he was 56 yo - by that time I thought his strong signatory voice would only fade from there. Apparently I was wrong. Truly amazing.
Buddy Guy is an artist. His vocals are completely improvised as his his incredible guitar work. an incredible entertainer who has not lost his mind like so many that have been around as long as he has. Awsome video! nice work . Thank you Jozsef
I've seen in past interviews with several different big artists like Buddy, Santana, and others artists how such seemingly disrespectful words mean just the complete opposite of what they appear to mean. They're purely complimentary for sure. Cheers !
Here's a little present for you: find the Newport Jazz Festival video that he's in. I wish I could get a still shot on this crap phone I have, there are moments when his face is the embodiment of pure joy. Real joy. It will capture you.
I'm going to be real right now... 98% of you have absolutely no idea how insanely good that saxophone player is. That was fucking phenomenal, that dude has mad skills.
The old "Nobody else gets how good it is" line. Yawn. Your opinion about your own special level of appreciation is not "being real" it's just telling people your opinion about yourself.
@@johnmalcolm4822 You got that right. Unfortunately he is unlikely to understand exactly what is meant by your criticism. Usually those who are convinced of their superiority never question it, afraid that they might reveal a yawning gap between what's true and what they claim for themselves. Objects for pity.
ive seen Buddy play five times over the past twenty years and he never failed to amaze me. The first time in Boston at the Roxy Theater i always remember he is handing out picks to front row fans and when he looked down and saw my cute Japanese wife Megumi reachinv up for the pick...he stood still for a moment and broke out in a big smile...hes always been a great entertainer...world class guitarist...and a gentleman..
nothing but cool, I love the presence, the low voltage high amp tempo is perfect! Im loving the sax/fender duel....eyes closed and sailing through the notes.
Not sure I’ve ever seen anyone who loves what they do as much as Buddy. I don’t go to many concerts but I got to see him in the early 2000’s and he was amazing!
He puts his heart into his fingertips that touches strings, he puts his heart into what's whisper or shout into the microphone and gives himself to us 100%. Fabulous. Thank you Buddy .And don't stop the blues
BUDDY GUY, BLUES AT IT'S worse, meaning IT'S VERY BEST, LITTLE WILLIE JOHN, MADE this SONG a classic, died in a Texas, prison, but HIS memeriors LIVE ON..... FEVER, WHAT a GREAT SONG......PRICELESS
That voice. That presence. The superlative guitar playing. How did we in Chicago get so lucky that he moved up from Louisiana, braved the cold and decided to put roots down, open up a blues club and stay there. These clips from Montreux are great, thanks for posting.
REMEMBER LITTLE WILLIE JOHN, doing THE song AT THE APOLLO, in Harlem, IN younger days, WILLIE made HIS TRANSITION in a Texas prison......buddy GUY has it DOWN TO A SCIENCE.....
He is the best. I used to see him all the time at Antones in Austin, TX. He would come down off the stage into the crowd and walk out the front door his security guys were by his side. He would come back in and walk in the crowd and back on the stage. What a man and what an artist.
A * MILESTONE * in Music - History, this man is the blues at its best ! This is the highest temperature ever measured Don't miss his earlier version of this great tune, Buddy's on FEVER for many years Very good audio and video quality. Greetings from Switzerland, the land of Montreux at the lake of Geneva
The alto-sax player should be an Icone, a legend, virtuous solo, splendid , this song is timeless in my opinion what a teriffic blues by Buddy Guy. What is the name of the splendid alt-sax player and the other musicians...?

I've been collecting so many Buddy Guy's CD & DVD so far by taking a long time, and if Buddy chooses to perform some another bluesmans song, I've collected the another singers song in order to compare how different, but concerning to this song, Buddy identified with Little Willie John, heart & soul of Little Willy has come down to BuddyGuy, so good, even if hear again and again, my nostalgia back in '56 linger.
Great musicians supporting Mr Buddy Guy! it sounds so good... I get it but no swearing is necessary. There are lots of other words to describe your feelings
This maybe "Good" by your standards you may even consider it " Excellent " and that's fine but here's my opinion.. key words there "my opinion" , So anyway .this guy ( a master in his own right ) is up there singing and strumming, going through the motions but he will NEVER put the feeling Little Willie John put into it....He felt ever word Yeah this guy is good but he's not Little Wille John good
