I got this lens with my A7IV and I love it. Debated between this and the Sigma and went with Samyang. its not perfect but as a hobby photographer it takes amazing pictures and good enough for me..Great vid bro
Has anyone had any problems with their samyang lens, particularly the base breaking off? The reason why I ask is because samyang is the same company as Rokinon. The Rokinon 24-70mm base breaks off internally due to screws being mounted to internal plastic parts.
it was a really good lens for the short time that I had it- was a bit heavy though- but I liked it a lot. image quality and lens performance were excellent... however, there are two really huge problems with it: first, is that the mounting plate is screwed into four small plastic posts- this is all that is holding your lens onto your camera. so let's say you trip and fall and you bang your lens on the ground (which I've done with my sony 28-70mm kit lens- but it still works perfectly), or if your tripod with your camera falls, as mine did, the plastic posts will simply break on impact and your lens will just snap straight off your camera. the second problem is trying to get that repaired. it will not go well because repair shops cannot get any parts for your lens, and Samyang has only one location in the US to fix the things covered by their warranty... so ultimately you'll learn that you've bought a $1000 disposable lens... a real shame because I would have easily replaced it with another. Instead, though I'm gonna miss the 4mm on the wide end, I got the Tamron.
I was a little confused at around 5:30 when you said that the lens tracks the subject really well while the footage showed the opposite. Surely you look at the footage before commenting on it! I'm still considering this lens, it is reatively cheap after all, and weight is not an issue for me. I'm just hoping that the apparent inability to follow focus on the subject in your footage was a glitch. I've not seen, or heard of this issue in other reviews.
Thanks for the comment! Good spot! it's definitely slower at that point in time of the video, generally I haven't found it to be an issue, it's on the slower end for sure. I'm about to do a video comparing this one against the Tamron 28-70. :)
Looks like a sharpness didn't rise when you down the aperture from 2.8 to 5.6. And it really less sharper than the tampon g2 lens. So you pay more but takes low sharpness and twice higher weight. The only reason is a wider angle at the low end.
I’m confused I ordered the rokinon 28-70, is Samyang and rokinon the same thing? The lens you reviewing is the samyang is the rokinon the same as this lens?
Tú qué me recomiendas? Excelente review me encanto!!!
That’s true. The sigma and sony are about 200g lighter with the same focal range. 25% heavier that the two. But it’s also 25% cheaper than sigma and nearly 100% cheaper than the sony. Wouldn’t count Tamron in the list as it’s not the same focal range.
Thank you for this video. Makes me think twice now, if I should spend that more ang go Sigma. I have the Samyang 85mm and I absolutely love it. So Ive been hyped for this one from start.

Glad you’re loving the lens and the camera! Appreciate the comment!
Did yours break?
@@DeshayTheLegend no it didn't ! why yours did ?

Great review! Thanks! What I needed to decide:)

@@fede_fpv al final elegí el 24-70 2.8 pero la versión II de acaba de salir

I was so close to getting the samyang. went for the sigma 24-70mm f2.8 art. but both look great 👍 thanks for the video 📹 😀
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Awesome video. Thanks heaps from NZ.
Everyone cut the weight with new lens. Sigma, Sony, Tamron. Samyang however made the heaviest Sony E mount standard zoom lens.

Same as below, bought the Sigma, it’s epic.
You interested in seeing how this compares to the sigma? 😅 might make a video comparison on the two

It’s a difficult one right. Samyang gives you 25% extra weight at 25% price discount over the sigma.
@@SohilPandya1 Yeah and if you're 100% satisfied with sharpness I think I will save up more money and get the Sigma. Thanks to your video 👍
Glad the video helped you! ☺️
This is not the sigma 24-70 dg dn art right ?
No. It is not the sigma
Awesome lens
Thanks!
There's this lens maker called TAMRON, no mention of it whatsoever, and it is better than the sigma or samyang and sony. HELLO?!
You are correct. But they don’t make a 24-70. I do mention them later in the video. But only very briefly.
These images from the street are not yours.
Ummm. Yes they are 😅
Do not buy this lens you will regret it

@@emrekaanozen4366 they break very easily
