The fact that’s there were 7 (almost 8 if you count mang0 as mostly falco) different characters in top 8 speaks mounds to what melee is as a game
It's quite funny to see how much "it's the year 20XX, everyone plays Fox dittos on FD" has changed. It's great to see that so many characters are viable enough that the best of the best play such a variety.
@@Pehz63 the 20XX thing wasn't a reality it was just theory crafting about hypothetical perfect TAS type play. Melee has always had pretty good character variety even at top level.

But personally i dont like how jigglypuff plays but that's kind of the point since puff plays fundamentally different to what we consider melee is. Fast paced gameplay with alot of tech skill involved. But then again hungrybox created a sub meta where pro players have to learn how to beat his puff

How can 13 people dislike this? I get that one of the dislikes comes from the crab thrower, but are the 12 others just mang0 fanbabies crying over the whole "Hbox is killing melee, waaaaa, waaaa, mang0nation, waa, waa" kind of people? ffs, Mang0 played REALLY good this tournament, way better than I personally had thought, considering how his last tournies have gone, where he has been a shadow of himself. And the top8 itself was SUPER hype,, where the least hype match was prolly the 4 game losers with Hbox vs S2J. And that says a lot.

I'm really disappointed by how disrespectful people are to Hbox.
This is *your* game, and Jigglypuff is a character in it. Maybe you shouldn't like Melee instead of Hbox if you're going to be so childish. Also, if Jigglypuff is so cheap, we should be seeing them pop up everywhere to win tourneys. Let's not pretend that people wouldn't also play Puff if they could win with Puff. The man has skill, and, like it or not, he is winning at the game you support.
You can tell even hbox is disgusted by the way he plays. Look at him look away in shame every time he wins a game
Why Hbox and commentators sad over the crab?
How would you feel if you simply tried your best to play a game you love, only to be hated by the majority of the community associated with said game. HBox constantly has to deal with death threats, rude-ass chants in tournament (see Genesis 6 for the Fuck HBox chant they did there), other forms of harassment, and now he's having things thrown at him just because he's the best player in the world and plays Jigglypuff.
Not to mention the fact of throwing something at someone is considered assault.
throwing things at players in general even if it's hbox or if a certain player won is just disrespectful no matter what. these players work hard to win and/or to entertain the viewers and throwing something is just a sign of hatred for who the players are and disliking players or even hating players is fine but don't be mean to them

I know that many fans hate on Hbox which is what led to the crab being thrown at him. I in no way condone these actions, but damn do I hate watching him play (I dont really like watching a puff edge guard or rest, it just seems really cheap and similar to wobbling) and seeing how annoyed these competitors get when playing him. Props to Hbox for not quitting the game because of the community hating on him, but honestly I wish he would stop competing in melee. I would like to enjoy watching grand finals again, since at the moment I just watch day 1 and the beginning of top 8. I am not sure about how this would affect the viewership of melee as a whole, but I know I would watch more top level melee if he wasn't playing.
it is not similar to wobbling at all. Jigglypuff is a TRUE glass cannon character, dies extremely early but can kill extremely early. If the person playing against jigglypuff doesn't respect her space, then you will get fucked on. I would call fox's up smash broken because it kills puff at 20%, and I would say I hate watching people upsmash, but does that make it similar to wobbling? no! you need to do an insane read to edgeguard as jigglypuff or hit a laggy Upsmash as fox, wobbling requires NO skill.
This just makes me want to stop watching pro melee RIP
