I decided to rewatch this set after a few years. The shot of Armada at 53:08 gives me chills, seeing him stand there in all his glory. It looks like a celebration to his career, not just at SSC. Especially seeing as this was his last set

We didn't realize it at the time, but this was the end of an era. This set is almost like a farewell from both M2K and Armada. I do think M2K will come back around to Melee eventually, but we're most definitely in a new era of Melee, where it's anyone's game.

I think this is the greatest set(s) of all time:
-the storied rivalry between the two players
-not only was it grand finals but it is one of the only grand finals sets to ever go to game 5 in both sets (and to be so back-and-forth from start to finish).
-the final set that 2 of the games greatest players would ever play against each other
-and finally, even though Mew2king lost in the end, he really showed not only how far his mentality had come along but also showed that he could maintain his composure aginst one of his greatest demons.
This set was exactly what Melee is all about.
One of the best Grand Finals of all time. M2k pop-offs are hype.

It's 2024 and I still come back to watch this incredible set. One of the best matches ever IMHO. It was so tense, and M2K did insanely well until the end. They both are legends of this game. I also liked the commentators, they were fun as hell.

That was it, no special pull on last game, honestly I felt there where more when I saw it live.

I dunno what you mean by "felt there were more." Six stitches, two bombs, and two Mr. Saturns is plenty lol. The commentators only thought there were four stitches (since they missed two of them) and they were already talking about how absurd Armada's RNG was this set.
Remember, each of those only has a 1/256 chance of spawning, which means that on average, you would have to pull over 2500 turnips to get those kinds of results.

Emm Bee Sea he destroyed armada earlier in the year in a grand finals with tougher competition. This was probably the greatest set, but he played his peak at smash summit. Kind of reminded me of Leffen at Evo.

@@rakkatytam there was nothing 'lucky' about his bracket at summit. yes, he avoided plup and hbox who were two people who had challenged him but with the amount of marth he was using i'm sure he would've decided that it was a better pick against plup plus he had all the puff training from mango and 2saint. not only that but armada was once his greatest demon and leffen had recently 3-0'd him at genesis.

seems like m2k is putting a lil more mang0 into his playstyle. maybe its the long-con mixup of people expecting m2k to play "optimally" for years and now hes just throwing out some crazy stuff and its catching people off-guard. I love seeing his confidence in his marth recently and how much he's been enjoying himself in tournament

Both Melee and Sm4sh finals came down to Peach vs Marth. Melee peach won, and Sm4sh Marth won. Perfectly balanced.

My voice was gone after watching this live in the crowd.
I remember in set 1 game 2, the whole crowd was yelling at M2K to up-throw armada after he was at 200%. I kind of thought most of the crowd would know after all these years that up+throw isn't going to kill peach until 250% on dreamland. So that was a pretty funny moment to be a part of.

Evo 2016: It was Puff. Hungrybox is crazy, but if it wasn't Puff, it would probably be better.
Apex 2015: Nice, but PP just faced a young and raw Leffen and Armada's Fox wasn't ready.
Genesis 1: Hype for sure, but again... Puff. This 10 games were back and fourth almost every STOCK if you don't count Mew2king start and Armada's finish.
Anyway, there's no GOAT set because there's always more than one. This one is sure Top 3, just like you said. My favorite (even though M2K didn't take it), is this one.

This set was so fucking good it doesn't matter who won the championship. Both Armada and M2K are the champions of this tournament for this Set ALONE.
