- This is a new run of The Long Dark. Our goal is to create a custom meal submitted by you for each region in the game: a 4,000+ Calorie meal complete with several dishes and a drink. The run will however be done on a difficulty mode even harder than Interloper: our character gets weaker and thirstier faster, cannot recover condition quickly and has lost the ability to navigate with sticks or pull torches from fires. Even so, the drive to create culinary masterpieces worth of Michelin Man himself's approval propels us forward.

My favorite part of the day. Listening to Jake’s dry humor.
Yesterday, I freakin did something to my ankle going down the stairs, leaving the house on the way to the gym. Didn't bother the workout. Felt it a bit after a woke up. Seems to have healed now.
One look at the name and profile pic I thought for sure this was a bitcoin broker spam message, but it's more likely compassion towards Canadian glass ankles.
His profile pic is a hockey team. Therefore its canadian
@@X_caron He only knows about snooker. Looks like pool table to me. But by saying that I bet I just insulted every Snooker player out there.
In an effort to strengthen my glass Canadian ankles, I actually started rucking in January. I have a backpack with 55lbs that I take on a daily 5km urban hike with my dog.
It’s a great way of staying fit. An unusual example of real life imitating art.
Very good, but what constitutes an Urban Hike?
@@DDRJake Unlike Commander Shepherd, I live in the urban forest of a big city, so my urban route is 5km along a the waterfront of downtown Toronto. But even though the urban hike is paved, the 32km event Im training for is cross country. I make sure my fatigue and thirst meter is full before I leave. You definitely feel the burn of being overburdened.
Rucking is traditionally a military style of strength and conditioning, but I a not a commander of anything except my German “Shepherd”.
Maybe if shepherd had done some similar training her ankles wouldn’t snap so often.
It’s a strange case of life imitating art. Turns out watching a tld stream inspired something practical in this case.
@@thetorontodogwhispereraka-7115hell yeah, that’s awesome! :D
I'm currently fighting a massive flu. The soothing sound of Jake's voice is helping me through the pain and the fever.
My patrician monocle flew out with an audible pop when he wasted 3% axe durability on a crate for one reclaimed wood. Well done!
Oh, just take this Macky jacket already!
@48:08 you can quarter in several increments. You can cancel and then continue from where you left of
Yea i pause vids when text shows up to read it.
And yea on dentists, prior time i needed anathesia they applied it wrong place, and started before it started to work. Also left half face numb afterwards.
Friday needed anathesia again, but now was only a small needle, at one specific place and only affected about a space of 3-4 teeth and inside the mouth not the lips. And slowly started to ensure the anathesia worked first.
Refreshing my RUclips page 2 days now to see this video. I am once again hooked on your series
I am already into 5. Watched 4 on Twitch. Which brings up the question, from Jake perspective, is it better when we watch on RUclips or from his Twitch replays? I figure RUclips because of the ads. If anyone can confirm.
@@MarkVremtwitch replays doesn't pay. RUclips however, pays for both ads and watch time. So, instead of twitch vods, use RUclips for every streamer you like (if you want to support them)
Good morning Jake this game is amazing
That's a good mod idea, then. Nemesis-style enemies, that will follow accross load-screen borders.
Your awesome jake..
Cheers!
Hey Jake I think Shepard might be hungry, there were clues
are birch sapling finite? are arrows finite? or beaches come to the rescue once again?
Beach Combing provides an uncommon yet infinite supply of Saplings and scrap iron. Corpses provide infinite feathers and guts. All makings for archery are infinite in The Long Dark.
You dont need the can opener once you hit lvl 3 cooking. It says so in the skills
Quite right. I do need it for one person's menu though.
Got back into my 55 day run, and i must say, even on interloper i cannot find a single damn maple sapling in coastal highway. Am i just blind? Or am i losing my mind
I find they are quite common on the elevated area near the Coastal highway -> crumbling highway transition, although there is still the chance that Interloper settlings low-roll and have them all destroyed ahead of time.
Ended up finding 2 there! Headed to get technical bag now. Out of curiosity, what does the toolbelt do? If it's another 5 kg of weight I'd say it's worth trudging through the abhorrent dlc content
@@ryanwaterbury It reduces the weight of your three heaviest tools by 50% (heavy hammer, prybar, hatchet, Quality Tools etc)
If carry weight is all you care about, then it may be a good pick, but I doubt I could justify using it over insulation.
Are children in Scotland called weeds?
"Weans" can mean children in Scotland.
Have you tried playing Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead with settings that make it permawinter? Since you like survival games set in cold environment.
Also you mentioned wondering what to say you do when asked irl. Why not just say ex-games developer or just self employed in internet sector.
I played CDDA but it asks too much from me to get into. Steep learning curve and not enough motivation to get into it.
