TLD Michelin Star Ultraloper 02 - Off to Ash Canyon

- This is a new run of The Long Dark. Our goal is to create a custom meal submitted by you for each region in the game: a 4,000+ Calorie meal complete with several dishes and a drink. The run will however be done on a difficulty mode even harder than Interloper: our character gets weaker and thirstier faster, cannot recover condition quickly and has lost the ability to navigate with sticks or pull torches from fires. Even so, the drive to create culinary masterpieces worth of Michelin Man himself's approval propels us forward.

For a sec was like, "I wonder if he's going to resort to sawdusting to his food?" Got FP on the brain apparently... LoL
You also missed a container on a shelf in the farm house basement.
16:53 My buddy claims deer eat squirrels and whatnot for their calcium. After the viral short with one eating a snake, I'll believe him, lol
There’s no such thing as a true herbivore, almost all will eat animal protein if they’re in need of certain nutrients. I’ve seen ranch animals eat birds whole.
@@DanitheDandelion gotta teach that in school. Loo
@@velarswood yeah natures way less cut and dry than we’re led to believe. Only exception are obligate carnivores that will get sick from eating plant material other than the partially digested stuff in their prey’s stomach
I think the ability to take "burning stick" aka a torch that ranged from 3-7%, would be a good change. It would allow you to look around, like when you were in the ship in ep1, but you wouldn't be able to chain fires for more than a minute or 2 without it being such a hassle that it wouldn't be worth it.
From the maker of "the-what-now tea?!?", we now get the long awaited sequel: "the-what-now bark?!?"
A little tip that I have found recently. When you are pulling travios game won't allow you to step on thin ice or fall of the edge.
I hope somebody suggests an amazing fish and chips or similar dish for Mystery Lake (or other location with a fishing hole)
Might as well never pick up painkillers and save the weight. Poor Shepherd...
If you know where to look for them, prepper cache on custom will have lots of goody's to help. 3 of them will be fully stocked up, will also provide a recipe from such location.
Good luck on your run, good to see you tackle this game once again, Cheers!
do you get rid of cabin fever when staying at spencers?
Yes. It is still considered an outdoor area. On interloper however, it's not a great place to spend a lot of time: it's very cold and a blizzard can kill you in your sleep if you've not got the stove on.
Can birch bark and rose hips spawn in after time passes or are they limited?
Birch bark is unlimited: blizzards cause it to respawn around Birch trees and occasionally along the shore.
Rose Hips are finite. Once you've gathered them all, they're gone for good.
@@DDRJake Thanks! Now I'm curious, have you ever gone so far to the point where you've had to beach comb to get otherwise limited recourses? Not necessarily on stream but while playing.
@@TheSumire I have a save game at about 250 days where I do a lot of beach combing (a continuation from my Outerloper stream series), but in order to truly need things for beach combing you would need to play for thousands of days because there is just so much cloth, metal and saplings in the world.
I did a Steam Discussions post regarding it which may be of interest: steamcommunity.com/app/305620/discussions/0/3825286048533204936
@@DDRJake thanks ill check it out
Jake mentions a good game he binged that has some shortfalls around the 3:39:07 mark, but can't find the context for which game it is, and it's not mentioned in the chat overlay. What game was he talking about?
That was Dragon's Dogma 2. I did not stream it, but I beat the game in my own time. It was great, but have some very pronounced issues.
wolves out to punish the autoclickers
You should start fishing to get some oil to make yourself some torches. Don't know if you can make a fishing hole with only the prybar tho...Oh, i've just made it to your explanation about fishing. Disregard
In my opinion, it is too early for fishing. Fishing takes quite a lot of setup and time including gathering guts and scrap metal, crafting tip ups, creating holes in the ice and tonnes of fuel to stay warm. The payoff is a lot of calories and oil, but that is not enough to be worth it. The world gets harsher and colder over time, so early game should, in my opinion, be focused on gaining ways to deal with the increasingly harder environment through tools, skills and warmer clothing.
