  • Hi πŸ–πŸ» friends,
We all have that one favorite wig that might have started fraying around the lace and is starting to show visible signs of wear and tear.
I wanted to share a little DIY with some tips on using the right tools I use to trim back the lace on my wigs.
    ~
I am customising my Jon Renau Alessandra wig in Palm Springs Blonde in this video.
The Jon Renau pinking shears and lace pencil were provided to me for use in my educational content.

I think they are pretty much on par with seamstress fabric shears and scissors. I also actually have child sized hands so they do also look disproportionately larger as do most things made for average sized hands πŸ˜‰

Thank you for linking this to our group Sister to Sister. I have tutorials in the group, but not cutting lace, plucking yes. I hate cutting lace, I prefer a straight cut βœ‚οΈ than the pinking sheers which, imo, is more tedious. Thanks again Kim. 😘

I was just wondering what kind of shears you use for a straight line? I'm not a fan of the zigzag line either...but I've never had to do a repair job on lace at the hairline and I want to make sure I don't make it worse.

Great tutorial. Shears could be smaller for manoeuvrability. Happy NY Kim!πŸŽ‰

Happy new year! I think the shears are actually on par with fabric shears and scissors - something to do with the weighting. But for those of us with smaller sized hands it will take a little getting used to!

What is the advantage of the pinking shears with the zig zag vs. a really sharp pair of scissors doing a straight cut?
How long till the lace begins to fray again?

I’ve been wearing a Jon Renau smart lace wig for one month now and the lace is starting to fray. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

it is hard to say what is causing your fraying, but from experience it could be from pulling on and off from the lace area
