    Thank you for your in-depth tutorial, Michelle. You have quickly become my favourite wig RUclipsr. I trust your reviews and advice. I am fairly new to wearing wigs and need to trim my Zara Lite so I will follow your hints & tips. I used your video to learn how to re-style my United wig away from my face using my steamer. I look forward to all your videos. 💕

      Thanks Teena - I love hearing that my videos are useful!😀 I'm so sorry to hear that your wig started to fray. (Just FYI, I previously used a dark pencil to mark where my hairline started. I got the white pencil marking tip from Wigs By Patti's Pearls Extras. I just added text to my video mentioning that.) Hope you have a great weekend!💖

    Michele, this is very helpful. I have never trimmed the lace on my wigs but I cannot imagine the pinking shears being feasible. I have some sharp German small pointed scissors that will work well for this. Some wig companies recommend rubbing the lace front hairs to make the lace "melt", as you said, into the skin and the fibers to stand up but that worries me for the reasons you stated of damaging or stretching the lace. I wouldn't even worry about the longevity of these pieces (despite how expensive they are) if it weren't for the fact that sometimes the style or color are discontinued. So, I try to keep the ones I have in perfect condition. That said, I have a Heidi from 2013 whose monotop and lace are still flawless and I notice the higher quality of that wig overall, compared to more recent Jon Renau and Raquel Welch units. I am hoping they come out with a lace that can more easily be trimmed at home. Meanwhile, I am going to follow your guidance. Thank you!! 💖

      @@micheleswigreviews I think I will practice on one of my older pieces first so I don't ruin Zara right off the bat. It seems to me that it requires a steady hand and good eye. I might panic and cut too much if I don't experiment (you make it look easy). 😨

I always used to ask my ex fiancé, and or any of my friends, not how I looked at it, but if they could tell it was a wig! Yes, I have trimmed the lace on several of the Jon Renau Lite Collection wigs and I know that many other wig wearers have as well. Pinking shears don’t stop any fabrics from fraying. A clear glue like substance found in fabric stores called Fray Check does, however. Also you can use a flexible fabric glue. Brush it on the wrong side of your lace front (make sure not to let any hair on the right side get glue on them), you don’t want to glue the hairs together.

    • @micheleswigreviews
      @micheleswigreviews  7 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks for your comment!😄 Yes, Fray Check is definitely an option. However, I tested Fray Check previously and found that it leaves the lace a bit shiny. If I had a problem with fraying lace and there was enough lace left before the knots start, I would trim it back as shown in this video. Another option is to use some clear silicone scar tape on the underside to reinforce the lace where it's fraying. If you pat the sticky side of the tape with your finger after applying it, it becomes less shiny.💖

    • @micheleswigreviews

      Hi CeCe! I have only owned one human hair wig - Savoir Faire by Raquel Welch. If I ever review a human hair wig with long lace, I will try to show how I trim it. However, it sounds like the wig cap on your wig is too big for you. I would suggest contacting customer service where you purchased your wig to find out if it can be altered and made smaller.💖

    Great video... thank you... did trimming the lace change the comfort of the wig... did it change the circumstance or make the wig feel like it's going to slip off? Thank you

    • @micheleswigreviews
      @micheleswigreviews  Год назад

      Thanks!😀Yes, trimming the lace made the lace front more comfortable. I have heard cautionary tales that trimming the lace front on Jon Renau's Lite Collection could potentially alter the fit of the wig. That has not happened with any of the styles I have trimmed. If you do experience this problem, you can always use some Walker Lace Front wig tape (on your skin - not on your hair) (use Jon Renau's Lace Let Go to remove the tape) or It Stays (you will need to loosen the hold with water before you take your wig off) to help secure your wig. Hope this helps!💖
