- We were very excited to walk around London with this little lens, from Hammersmith to Borough Market, and during day and night.
If you're looking for a small option for street photography you can't really go wrong with this one, and the metal mount and included lens hood are nice additions too.

Awesome! Love your strolls around London! Please do more😀
Me too.
For some reason, this lens was released discounted in the UAE. Literally less than $40 over the price of the 28mm, so I eventually bought it instantaneously. I love that it's a pancake, and it found a permanent residence in my Z50 bag. Love the choice of music, and the shots👍
I bought the 26mm for my Z7 and first used it for a photo day out on South Bank. It is lightweight and small enough to fit in a National Trust bum bag. It focuses quite close. On the 45mpx Z7 can shoot in DX mode for a 39mm field of view and of course can digitally zoom in further in post processing. Good results shooting black and white too. For me it’s the ideal understated walkabout lens. Love the music you played guys.
After seeing those photos, I want to visit London (and Grays).
I would love if you made a direct comparison of the NIKON Z 26 vs the NIKON Z 28 Lense.
Both are f2.8 with only a small difference in focal length, but quite a price difference (the 28 at about half the price of the 26 )
How cool it be if you could map a function button so that you could display the hyper focal distance on the top LCD?
I bought 26mm lens, and is amazing value for use with my Z Fc as it makes the camera so much smaller. Now I almost carry it everywhere using a Lowepro m-Trekker HP 120 bag. Size matters. I haven't try it with my Z6. There I prefer 28mm focal length.
Great area for photography. Did you know that the building beside the bridge at 2.50 was the set for the gangsters hideout in the film, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels?
I purchased for Astro . As Becky says, not recommended at infinity. All my photos suffered from bad coma, so I sold it immediately.
So much fun seeing you at work on the streets. I am from Austria and i bought severell DSLRs and optics in your shop To bad, that UK is not EU anymore. So i had to pay to much toll taxes and everything gets to expensive. I wish i could visit your shop someday and meet you. Enjoy your weekend and greetings from vienna!
I can't wait to see the comparison with the 28mm. I have the 24-50 Z which can be a little slow sometimes. Maybe a 3 way battle at F/4.5.
I'd like to see a comparison with the kit lens. I returned the 28mm because I found it didn't really look better than the kit lens. Hopefully this 26mm is better.
Had my 26 for two days. love the handling. 4.5 reasonably sharp in corners. 8.0 is great. Center is fine at 2.8. I use it on Z6 or 7. Program A for shutter button focus. U3 for back button focus. I have been using my Leica 28 2.8. Not corner sharp until 5.6. Focus is hard. I use Zoom for back button and U1, focus at 2.8, then stop down. Ok for landscapes, but shots like done in this but, it is useless unless you scale focus. Scale focus on Nikkor is questionable. I would not do it.
I'm considering getting the lens for astro work while hiking - currently use the 20mm f1.8 which is obviously superior but weight is a factor and that'd be ~370g less, that being said, its only a one stop improvement (vs 2.3 stops for the 20mm f1.8) over the 24-120mm f4 and its also not as wide. Decisions decisions...
Has bad coma, I sold mine after trying for Astro
@HoRiGa94
What did you end up choosing? I currently have the 20mm f1.8 and love it but it can get a bit bulky sometimes for hiking
So are you handholding those night-shots?
yes
Do you think Voigtlander will produce a 28mm f2.8 Color-Skopar for the Nikon z mount?
Hey Grays, wondering what body you were using with this lens? Z5, Z6? cheers 🙂
How’s the 26mm for family photos or portraits?
Can you also compare it with the TTartisan 27mm f/2.8 as well? You two seem to be the only RUclipsrs at the moment to have tested out both lenses
More!
What cage do you use for the camera?
Looks like a 3 legged thing brand Nikon Z body l bracket.
Hey guys you stated the Nikkor 28mm F/2.8 when it should of been the 26mm. Other news is that I have upgraded my internet speeds and it is awesome. Wish I could help Grays out with that too. I am over my milestone of producing 650 videos made on my channel for RUclips. Thank You Grays, Ricci, Peter Gregg, MrCameraJunkie, Sly Reader, Simon from Ordinary Filmmaker, Matt Irwin, David Oastler, Chuck and his panel of guests from AP Studios, and all of the RUclipsr influencers that have gave me the courage to do this. Stay Safe and Keep Smiling! Cheers! BTW I am viewing this video carefully to help me to decide for my Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) which people tell me that I have a serious problem with. Keep this quiet but between us I am really a HOARDER and thinking of opening my house as a Museum or Bed & Breakfast to further my love of stuff. Bye!
Shame the body is so bag and Nikon doesnt have a small Sony a7c body equivalent
Do you have two sets on both of you ?😂
