Watched the video actually a second time, can’t believe that you considered to dump it somewhere on your hard drive Stripey! Big thank you @bonpecheur4565 for convincing Stripey 🙌
Thank you very much John! Aye is absolutely amazing how good the weather forecast is, obviously you have sometime the odd forecast but generally it is amazingly accurate!
@@StripeyHatGuy You still had some good footage in this video . The shot showing you going to the summit with the dark clouds hanging over was great , its looked liked a walk straight to hell 😅 . Good thing you change your mind on a wild camp , what pleasure can you get getting blasted by the wind and have zero sleep during the night . Thanks again , see you in the next one
@@bonpecheur4565 Cheers mate! Used literally every single clip - cheers for bringing the ball into rolling otherwise I would have put it just into the ‘unfinished episode’ folder and it seemed that you were not alone with interest 👍 Thank you Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy I was saying to myself I'll never see that video when you called for a hundred like on my comment , never had more than 5 like on any comment I've made on RUclips 😅
Beautiful views! I've been loving the winter conditions recently, but for walking - far too chilly to camp in the biting wind! I did a car camp on Friday and it was -4C. The temperature for the Munros that day was 3C, but it was inversion conditions. I climbed a 750m hill which was below the inversion and it was freezing - luckily I was dressed for freezing conditions and not for 3C.
Great views of the stunning Glencoe 🏔️🏔️🏔️ pity the weather ☁️ didn't play ball 🏀 but your weather knowledge and explanation of why not to camp at certain heights were very impressive 👌 definitely better to bale and spend the night in a warm house with a nice meal and a beer 🍺 maybe next time Stripey atb Brian 👍
Thanks a lot Brian! Weather forecast models are amazing these days and they are actually more accurate in Scotland than in the Alps with the "Foehn" conditions. Cheers Stripey
Great video and fantastic views. Glen coe around the buckle is so awesome..I'm so jealous Stripey. I've not been up there since I did the whw in the 90's😊
Shame you couldn’t get a camp spot out of the wind..Great hike though with amazing views😍..Enjoyed your explanation of how the weather can affect the camp at different heights😍👏🏻..Excellent video mate😁👍 Cheers Robert
Yeah absolutely, probably my favourite time of the year in Scotland. No bog, wee beasties or ticks - just wonderful scenic and the hills are even emptier 😊
Hi Stripey, lovely little hike. Shame you couldn’t get the camp but the conditions sounded like they would be pretty crappy. Thanks for sharing your day thought mate. All the best, Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴
Hi Stripey, out of interest did you change your camera or video upload settings on this one ? The video seemed even sharper than usual , clarity was amazing?! A
Hi Andrew, no not to my knowledge. I guess I had just perfect 'air conditions'? But i recognized it as well that the clarity is better - might be on the youtube end something as I haven't changed anything in my workflow. Cheers Stripey
Just a phone. Never film in hdr as I am not assuming that everyone has an hdr capable (me including) device + it saves me time to bring it into rec 709. The mic is just a lavalier microphone so nothing for the audiophile 😂😂😂 Edit: I use a GoPro only as an action camera (e.g. scrambling etc.), before I started using a phone I used a Fuji XT2/Fuji XT4 as I have them at home from photography but unfortunately they lack in stabilisation 👍
@@StripeyHatGuy thanks mate for the information. I’ll explain what I meant. There are two types of hdr, true hdr which capture the full dynamic range for hdr TVs such as Dolby vision and HDR10, and then there is hdr tone mapping in which the phone dynamically tone maps the hdr to a rec 709 profile to get the best highlight and shadow details possible in SD. iPhones do this in normal SD mode. When I looked at your video I think it is iPhone footage because I noticed sometimes the shadows suddenly get brighter when the camera moves, but wasn’t 100% sure Anyway I’m getting too technical, the video quality is great and your videos are great too
Better safe than sorry. It looked fairly dodgy all the way up as your face got redder and redder. They do say its not the snow that kills you, its the wind.
Here it is guys...

Sounds similar to the experiences I had recently, is just better to have some extra cloth for warmth in the rucksack - you just never know.

Aye definitely, afterwards you are always smarter but I should have gone to a different hill which has a better west/north-west cover 😂
It's a fine wee Mountain Stripey. Nice wee day trip for ya., you don't have to camp all the time. 😁😉
Hahaha thanks Kev! Well I don't have to but I would like too - this is usually the only 'Stripey Hat Guy' time I get 😂
