You definitely did the right thing. The trip not being fun aside it also could have become very dangerous very fast. There are too many people that take the risks of backpacking too lightly.
Don’t let your filter freeze. At that point it’s too late and is ruined. Thawing it will do no good as far as giving you a safe filter. Keep that thing warm 👍🏼
Looking forward to watching this video !!
thats the nice thing about the eastern sierra now
yes its freezing but there s sun and openness allowing sun rays.
Here in WA
the damp cold and gray skies
and dense trees ( until you reach above treeline)
feels much much colder.
which month did u exactly go?
For all those who enjoy punishing themselves, have at it. I prefer to be able to enjoy nature, camping and hiking in comfort. Of course there’s always a degree of ruffing it, but unless I’m specifically practicing some survival techniques, no thanks. Enjoyed the video though, thanks guys.
Wusses. I've done the length of the Sierras, in winter, solo, without resupply.
To each his own, do your own hike, no need to be condescending.
Mountains in the winter require special skills and knowledge that obviously you don't have. This trip could have been very bad for you. Read, study, meet with your friends that have experience and training, and take any courses available. Learn before you go.
Well we know what we know and have no need to prove anything to you but something we feel is very important to share is that we don't let our ego cloud our judgment.
