Philipp Plein consistently manages to look like the clothes they sell at outlet stores where they still follow the trends from 5-10 year ago, it's kinda impressive tbh
Kinda understandable because fashion turned to shit since than. It may be more unique and creative, but ultimately looks ridiculous. I actually appreciate Philip Plien. There is most definitely a place for him in fashion. I have a shirt it’s not quite my style because it has a rhinestone skull but I do like it.

The immense crazy shows, making walk pretty much anyone, the over the top new rich style that everyone hates, to me he has way more legitimacy in fashion than a lot of brands i do absolutely hate him and his clothes tho
Conspicuous consumption is not new, just look at Liberace. Plein doesn't explore or push aside fashion; he usually just copies other designers' work and then just bedazzels part of it.

The business of fashion itself is predicated on self-promotion, shock and over the top spending plus a lot of bad taste to boot. You are not stating anything about Mr. Plein that cannot be attributed to many celebrities, let alone designers. Actors, artists and a few sports figures can also be included. When I saw the title of your post, I imagined him beating his girlfriend, throwing a puppy out a window, getting drunk and saying Hitler was right or something like that. But that isn't the case with Plein. He is doing what a person in his position and type of career is expected to do! What I think is at the heart of your attack on Plein is I would imagine something personal to you???!!
Honestly his stuff is so unbelievably gaudy. I wouldn’t wear anything from him even though I admit the quality I saw when touching his stuff is pretty good. The dog bed is awesome though. On the whole I can’t hate the man. I’m writing this while sitting in my living room in a dirty shirt, while he’s out there living his dream. Whose the winner here?
yeah i agree.. hes making hundreds of millions of dollars each yeah.. i make fashion commentary videos.. one of those lifestyles is slightly better than the other
His watches are quality- and seems like he’s just having fun. The face on mine says “unofficially certified superlative timepiece” like he knows it’s not a roley but non Uber rich folks must have something substantial and nice too. I like the humor in it! I like the quality.
Hmm. The only one i kind of like is the skull one with an automatic movement and maybe the nobile chronograph . All his stuff is good quality. But like 200 for a silicone watch is crazy. The designs are clear ripoffs and they are huge. Wear whatever makes you happy but watch snobs hate these fashion watches
People hate his stuff but they praise gucci and balenciaga. Gucci and Balenciaga collections made without ¨historical¨ brand support would be just as trash. That is odd - it is the same lack of taste, just different alley.
Exactly! The fact that Balanciaga still gets very loyal praise after childp*** and jailbait promotional material and design inspirations for their collections tells you everything you need to know about these "historical" fashion houses
His dog bed idea was clever. I don't like his stuff but I kinda admire him. He's made a shitload of money. The people who actually buy his clothes have a lot to answer for though lol
Honestly back in 2017, 2018 i thought his stuff was pretty cool. The point where I lost interest is when Ferrari sent him a Cease and Desist he made a post claiming that he was going to burn down a Ferrari but he never did. I don‘t know why but this kinda ruined the brand for me. I mean his entire brand is based on being edgy and pretentious. If you claim you gonna burn down a Ferrari, you have to actually do it…
Audiger vs plein?? Lol also I do like his rhinsestone designs and the graphics are dope. I just do not think I could rock it. Maybe I could because I have a penchant for combining classics with stuff like that but idk its just so loud. Some of his jackets I kind of like if they are not too loud.
It is stupid that there are now all these rules about who you can and cannot offend. I think some of his clothes are nice. He should remain confident and not give into the politically correct peer pressure bullshyt
So to summarize: he has bad taste, is racist, rips off other brands and his clothes are overpriced. Shocking indeed as such things are unheard of in fashion. Until now. Got it.
I’d argue one of his best traits are the shows. I mean no one batted an eye when LV put a show in a Shanghai shipping yard. Shows how they could be potentially styled along with uses. Now I wait for the people who haven’t been to a single NY FW / Paris FW.
I saw once a black leather jacket with a panther painted on the back, priced around 5k. It really looked cool. Some pieces I think can be cool, if they are not rhinestoned or have his name plastered all over the garment. But then again, that's his gaudy style. Still wish to own that black leather jacket with the panther though :).
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Philipp Plein. The designs are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the style queus will go over a typical consummer's head.
Even his dog chair is a rip off (corbusier lc2 chair), how can you say this man is creative; the only thing that I respect about his work is how he exploited people's bad taste to build an empire.
Don't forget he adds a crazy price tag. Maybe I should start a brand selling $10 000 t-shirts. It would probably make the news as most expensive tshirt in the world (with the 24/7 news cycle the stuff considered news these days is often stupid) and people with wayyyy too much money would buy it as flex.
