Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for eight years now.
Together Mariana and I, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!

@farmerforfun do you happen to know whether it was a wildfire, a house fire, or arson after abandonment that caused the damage to the structure ?
Beautiful property. Thank you for showing it to us. Lots of potential. Just curious, can you tell me how much it would cost to renovate this house? I know it depends on what the final product will be but in general, water, electricity, heating/cooling systems, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, insulated tiled roof and so on. Nothing fancy, just ready to live comfortably, all year round. You always state that you have connections with local builders which is great. You must have an idea of the costs too. Can you share? Thanks!

It’s some kind of agriculture shed, perhaps for goats or a tractor, possibly can buy in the future, a lot of small parcels of land such as that one can be for sale

Hello!! Thanks for messaging, I can get an exact quote but I would imagine a hall park figure to be about 80,000 / 100,000 in reconstruction

Hi, does this property have a habitation license please.
Yes you can live in it. And when it's your house you have the right to repair the building, or renovate.
When you want to expand the building or make big changes you need permission for that, you need an architect then and a lawyer.
Could a new owner do a control burn the first year in spring, to see what under the under growth.
Burn to check for what?

Why do you call this property a farm? From what I can see it's 3 hectares of undeveloped land with a few fruit trees sprinkled on it. Nothing established [like rows of trees] that you can call a farm. I see no stones on the edges of each terraces that says that someone has put some time and effort to make it something more. The ruin looks like it was fire damaged and we don't know how the fire damaged the granite. There's a lot of unknowns here. In my opinion, I do not think it's worth 55,000€.

Farms produce food… Goats eat grass, goats are livestock and get grazed on this land, but years prior it was a cherry farm hence all the irrigation tanks and terraces for trees… People didn’t just create terraces because they liked the way they look, they created them for agriculture (AKA it is an abandoned farm)
It was obviously once a farm, and it obviously can be one again to someone who has the vision to see it..... 🙏
I'm not sure why you feel the need to be so argumentative about this? I can imagine there are plenty of other channels you can go find more enjoyment at, such as "Crazy Cat Lady Get-together" or something similar. Just because you don't seem to think it fits your preconceived notion of what a farm should be, doesn't mean the rest of us have to agree with you. I would daresay you are in the minority here.
