Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful partner Mariana for nine years now.
Together Mariana and I, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!

@infour44 Yes. The new owner would need helping hands at harvest times for cherries and olives but only a couple of key times each year. Living here makes it all worthwhile.

Hi Jiseph its a ahame we can not see inside tge house.....amazing place....i am Portuguese but live in UK i want to go back home....i never tought of the north as i like warm weather but after living in the uk for 20 + years i guess i could now live in the north of Portugal...my husband is starting now a university degree so i dont think i can move just yet....but this property is amazing this one and the one with the waterfalls are my favorites....I might not wait for my husband to finish uni i am a fa of your channel and please always include André by the way your Portuguese is amazing at times its so funny to ear it all in Portuguese and understanding and than again in English....good luck with all you do....and would like to one day meet you guys....amazing job

Nicely presented Joseph and Andre, i am in the process of setting up a move to your area and will be searching for properties in your area so will be in touch when I am finally actually in Portugal. You have mentioned you know quality builders in the area and I am wondering about building and building renovation costs for granite/stone buildings and an approximation of costs and time frames to have a modern stone structure/renovation completed in the size of 150 square metres or so. I am coming to this process later in life so while I appreciate the idea of developing a rustic piece of land, at my age that may be too long of a process so if I can find a developed or partially developed property to then complete the final touches would be best. If you are not comfortable answering my questions in the general comments area, maybe private messaging will work? Hello there, a kilo of cherries sell for between €4/€6 on average here wholesale. depending on variety, how good the year is and whether we are early or late in the season etc.
information on fruit trees, such as planting density, production per tree and amount of trees per hectare etc can all be googled, or we can answer any questions in an email 😊
What is the situation regading drought and climate change in central Portugal ? Have you noticed any change ? That ground looks as though it hasnt had any rain for a long time.
That region, Central Portugal, is always dry and hot in summer. It's normal i guess.
I wouldn't say climate "change" because 50-70 years ago it was also like that. Probably already hundreds of years like that. Olive trees grow in hot Mediterranean climate.
Overall there is yearly almost the same rainfall as in Northern countries. But the rainfall is mainly in winter.
It has been raining cats and dogs last winter and also during spring there has been plenty of rain. Stop getting scared of the climate change hoax.

Depends, on our farm we do all the cherry harvest in house, between five of us

Hey guys, roughly what sort of value would that yeald of cherry have, and how long would it take for a newly planted tree to reach a commercial size? many thanks
Hello there, a kilo of cherries sell for between €4/€6 on average here. depending on variety, how good the year is and whether we are early or late in the season etc. Newly planted trees will give cherries in the very first season (but only one or two), next year a handful, year after a bucket, year after maturity
