@@pellogram jet video points a problem and tries to give solutions. It isn't negativity but constructive criticism. Giving solutions he takes the risk of being wrong, but is better than don't giving any idea or saying that everything is good when it isn't.
heres an even simpler rebuttal to the netherite upgrade template issue: mojang knows that structures having already been looted can be an issue, it can be frustrating to have to find the third nearest instead of the nearest structure ...so they added vaults for once-per-player loot in trial chambers. but they specifically didnt call it a Trial Vault or anything, because they've said they want to be able to use it in other structures, such AS the bastion, or heck... for the elytra, even?
i am convinces they are going to add it to all structures in future since even elytras can be a pain to find on larger multiplayer servers and it sure does a good job to help making obtaining items as a player better, i do hope they will add them in future since thats game changing and would straight up solve all the "problems" mentioned in jets video regarding multiplayer
Gotta love Minecraft videos that act like all the players play completely optimally and speedrun everything in 25 minutes. Most people don't beat the dragon, let alone get an Elytra.
don't forget how one of dream's arguments against the iceologer was that the mob could make speedrunning in mountains harder, ignoring that literally any other hostile mob that isn't a blaze, piglin or enderman already was an obstacle for speedrunning annoying speedrunners and youtubers like jetstarfish only think of minecraft as a RPG in which you NEED to become more and more powerful instead of the game being a sandbox that gives you the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want
@@peterfamilyguy2040 I'm pretty sure if a run doesn't spawn near an ocean or a village it gets reset anyways, what a lame excuse for ruining that year's mob vote
i have never once beaten the game on survival ☠️ nor gotten an elytra ive never flown with it the day it came out. i just play it for fun and get to the diamond-iron stage of the game before making a new world or just taking a break for a few months
The real problem with exploration is the inventory. After exploring for a while your inventory will get filled with random stuff that you need. And also beds and phantoms. Because if you sleep in a bed, then sleep in another bed, than break that bed. You will respawn at the world spawn. And you can’t just not sleep in a bed or else phantoms will spawn.
@@Howabouthereand for the bed like they add some kind of sleeping carpet that does not set the spawn point. Also removing the item de spawn when a player dies would help a lot
Donkeys can help with that. Those extra slots are incredibly helpful on a long adventure. Also, if you have silk touch you can use an ender chest for even more storage (which only gets better with shulker boxes)
5:06 the elytra needs no nerfs. It literally a end game item there is no reason to try to restrict its use at that point. If you choose to use it or not is up to you. Im a builder and elytra are very useful for tall buids. A lot people forget that if you try to cater to one play style to much you will start hurting the other play style indirectly.
THANK YOU. The elytra may be OP, but if you really think it needs nerfing, then you should just avoid it. You can choose to do that. That's the beauty of a sandbox game like Minecraft. Nerfing the Elytra will only cause needless drama and complaints from one side of the community since it's a Minecraft building staple at this point.
I think that the elytra is way too op, but nerfing them is difficult, maybe making them stamina dependant, so you can't use them for more than 2 minutes in a row, but can use them to move around your base or watxh and area from the heaven
@@joaquinginestet4813 it a choice to use them. Nobody is forcing you to use them all the time. I personally do have a elytra but I decide to rather walk and build paths instead of flying most of the time just for the challenge. This is a sandbox game, you can opt out of using features with in it. Again this item needs no nerfs because it is found in the endgame portion of the game were the game is soposed to open up more. At that stage of the game there is no reason to keep the player grounded because they have reached there peak in the games progression tree at that point. It is like the space jump in metroid games were the really op items like it are saved for the end game so it dose not break the early game. Were else to put the elytra then? It is the furthest away a item can be from the players reach. I think it's in the perfectly right place if you ask me and it's utility for builders is often forgotten about in these conversations about the elytra.
@@Random66860it literally is. You feel like a God in your world with powerful items and can literally manipulate spawns, drops, interactions, and only die when it matters to a few mobs and situations like Warden. Now in GTA you don't feel like a God because you can still get killed, arrested from the car, destroyed by tank interactions, sniped by helicopter, outnumbered by gangs and enter a chaotic road chase, in some games drown, caught up in explosion, and i could go on. Minecraft survival is a sandbox game were you create whatever you want aside from command blocks, which don't necessarily make it a sandbox on its ownl
I disagree so much with transportation being issue. Minecarts arnt useless. In my opinion there the optimal transportation for caves. Flying aroung in caves with the elytra isn't very easy cause your always hitting the ceiling. Its also very aesthetically pleasing. There also great for transporting mobs. In my opinion as is transportation is fine Horses are for small distances Minecarts are for caves Elytra is fast overworld travel And nether highways make it so much faster to travel between biome Nerfing any of theses things would make the game so much more annoying.
2:23 Naw bro. Horses did not make the Minecart obsolete. Because minecarts can be used to transport mobs like villagers, all the best using a horse or elytra to transport the villager from village to base for your iron farm or trading hall
Transport villagers is not exploration. I could make transportation system for villagers with piston or water, it's possible, but it is not their main purpose. As well, as boat's main purpose is exploration on boat, not entity transportation or Nether travel. If main reason of overall existing is suck, you can't simply "but it could do this", since THIS is not main reason of this item's existence.
@@RastrKrok I don't see how the minecart has ever been an exploration feature personally. You can't use it without laying down rails, and you can't do that until you've already gotten to the location you want to get to.
Also also, not to mention AFK transportation. On a friend's realm that's been around before the Caves and Cliffs update, our bases are WAY spread out... So one dedicated friend, decided to build a MAAASSIVE railway system, sometimes it takes upwards of 20-30 minutes to get to someone else's base lmao so it's nice to just hop into a cart and go get something to eat while you wait
The problem I have with exploration is just how much space a single Minecraft world can take on the hard drive of an average user, having a well explored world can potentially scale up to a couple gigabytes of space and I don't think this problem is a very easy fix.
Minecraft has a problem with exploration, but it's none of the stuff talked about in this video or in JetStarfish's video. It's the problem that my world is already like 400 mb and it takes FOREVER to back up and I explored so much and it was over a gigabyte so I had to trim over half the chunks to get it to a reasonable file size so now I limit myself on exploration to keep my file size small
That and the fact that you aren't encouraged to travel too far away from your base because there is no easy way back and if you die good luck getting your items back from a million blocks away
@@Nuniixowhat do you mean by that? I thought that the reason for such large file sizes is the fact that Minecraft has to save those chunks as soon as you load them, since there could be some non-naturally generated blocks.
@@Nuniixo Minecraft does unload chunks that aren't in your render distance. You've misunderstood what the issue is... The issue is that every chunk takes up file space, so the more you explore the bigger your world's file size will be (completely unrelated from whether or not the chunks are loaded).
I’ve never seen the elytra as a problem. I’ve never actually gotten one in a survival world, and neither has most of the player base. Hell, less than half the player base even fights the DRAGON, much less gets an elytra. I also never use horses, or minecarts. I just run everywhere. Horses are just annoying, and hard to get a good one, minecart tracks are ugly as hell, which is one reason why nobody uses them. Aside from them being slow. And on a server, with everyone trying to make minecart tracks to their stuff, it just gets super cluttered and ugly, unless you make it underground, but then you have to carve out hundreds or thousands of blocks, and it makes it more cost effective to just walk, or use the Nether.
I have to disagree with nerfing the elytra. The problem isn't that the elytra is op, it's not even that the other forms of transportation are slower. For me and many others the problem is that the other options are just less fun and more tedious. Nerfing the elytra wouldn't encourage people to use other options unless you make it just as boring to use. The solution should be to make everything else more fun. For example, when playing the create mod I don't use elytra because trains are just more fun even though they're objectively worse as the require a lot of resources. So instead minecarts should be linkable to make a train with furnace minecarts at the front functioning as an engine. If I could make a massive railway system then I would rarely ever use elytra. In the end, Minecraft is a sandbox game and the player should be able to choose the transportation the have the most fun with. The whole problem with JetStarfish's video is that he's trying to force his playstyle onto everyone else. And nerfing the elytra would be doing the same thing.
I’d love to have more fun minecarts cuz I like building roller coasters with them? They should be faster but limited to the resources you need to craft them. Also add copper to the construction.
@@Zaylic honestly i think the elytra is balanced in its obtainability. sure some players just immediately rush to the end to get it but most players havent actually beaten the dragon at all making it so the elytra is completely off the table. horses are still balanced because theyre easy to get early game and see alot of use because of that, you cant find an elytra just roaming around in some fields 20 blocks from where you spawn. its like arguing iron armor is useless because netherite exists. also, minecarts have their niche of mob transport. imagine making a villager trading hall without them. horses have their niche early game, minecarts have their niche in mob transport and the elytra is all rounder balanced by its hard obtainability, a bit like the rod of discord from terraria
I don't even know how you could make the other modes of transportation better besides adding ways to make them faster. Honestly, I don't think they're as bad as people say they are. Yeah, Minecarts on normal rails are kinda slow, but with powered rails, they're quite fast. Also, I do like the idea of minecarts being able to couple each other.
I do think minecarts should get more use as a mode of transport as a reward for the player setting up a whole track, but honestly I don't think you need to nerf the elytra or even horses to do that. Right now I'd say that minecarts have the niche use of being one of the most convenient and reliable ways to transfer items around, but there's pretty much no point using it for travel. It needs something unique, like the ability to jump carts like in donkey kong, or to more easily control tracks to always go where you want without doing a bunch of redstone work. Not saying it has to be either of those things specifically, I just think something is missing that could make them more unique and worthwhile. Also, somewhat unrelated to what I was saying but I wanted to point this out: "Make the elytra 3x rarer!" "The netherite upgrade template is too rare for multiplayer!" Yeah, his idea for the elytra is definitely half-baked, and even that's being a bit generous lol. Multiplayer severs are still all going to have fully geared players, no mater how rare the gear is. I do think the netherite upgrade is kind of a bad item but that's a different issue.
Honestly I feel like a fix that makes sense for the elytra is to just at more stuff to the sky that make fly long distance a bit more difficult, not making it impossible to fly long distances but just making flying more of a required skill. I don't know if that makes any sense.
5:05 that would mean going back to 1.9 elytra when you couldnt use fireworks, it was nothing else but a pretty useless curiosity, that would be the worst possible way of nerfing the elytra
6:40 I agree with most ur points but most servers I've been on in the past while all have had worldborders to keep players closer together and to prevent lag, also on a server that has a lot of ppl who like kinda the drama/pvp side of things, no one wants to give you an advantage. With jet being a content creator I assume he'd be speaking from experiences on content smps like that. The point is still dumb, cause like you know, competition is the point of those kinds of servers.
You’re kinda missing the point a little with the first point. At the end of the video he literally explains how at the end of the day Minecraft has os many different play styles, and that the goal was never to make Minecraft an exploration game, only to make it a more fun and fleshed out option.
Good vid. You forgot to mention the mod to "fix" all of those issues that he was trying to SELL, which is ILLEGAL as it breaks the rules of Minecrafts EULA.
I don't know if anyone said anything about this yet, but for Java Minecraft there is a mod that nerfs the elytra in a really unique and clever way, that still makes it viable called Aileron. It removes the ability to use fireworks, but replaces it with the ability to use campfires as updrafts, and the more campfires you have in one place, the stronger the updraft. Not only that, it adds 2 exclusive enchantments to the elytra as well. Smokestack, which lets you build up a limited amount of boosts you can use mid air, and Cloudskipper, which makes the elytra fly better at higher and higher altitudes. Now, instead of just building a gunpowder and sugarcane farm for fireworks, you build routes of bonfires and watchtowers that let you fly long distances, making the elytra require as much infrastructure as a minecart system, while still being a fast, endgame form of transportation.
i just thought of a great nerf for the elytra, just make it so it starts of with like with like 0.3 durability per second and slowly as you go quicker/higher it takes more durability until it like caps at 1.5/s
As a solo player, I think a problem with exploration is when a new biome comes out and I want to get that wood (i.e mahogany wood) in a world that I play in I have to walk so far just to maybe find one. Also mojang please make it so horses to swim please
I actually don't hate the horse stamina bar idea, I'm on board with letting my lil buddy rest a bit while exploring Also I didn't know the elytra was a problem since I never use those lol
6:12 actually he is somewhat correct here because on really large servers such as 2b2t you would have to travel millions of blocks just to find a bastion that hasn't been raided. Also on one of these servers (especially pvp servers) players who have obtained these are unlikely to give them up and will instead attempt to destroy all of them so that they can create a monopoly.
Minecarts could be faster; but they're hands free, can be ridden afk for long distances, and are useful to transport mobs & goods especially villagers, not to mention both speed and power rails can be duplicated in the current vanilla game if you don't like the price, just like carpets. Minecarts are also great in a highly developed server like mine, with many long roads and spread out cities in different places, because they can be marked with signs and lead directly to a destination without getting lost or needing a map. And later with enough effort an ice highway with boats can be an extremely fast method of transportation and upgrade to an existing rail network if you really want to save time. To summarize I think there are more uses for any particular thing than any one person can recognize and that's why useless is a word I save only for people 😂
Okay so let me say what how I would fix shit. The minecarts speed should definitely be buffed as well as making them connect to one another. Then for the horse. The horse itself is pretty fine but the thing that nerfs it is the Minecraft generation itself. Most of the trees are way too short to navigate with a horse and that's one of the main reasons the horse is bad. The fix for this would be a general generation update, aka updating the biomes by making trees taller etc. And finally the elytra. The one that puts all of them into f tier. I can't agree with you about them making fireworks useless for elytras. The fix here would be to decrease the amount of boost each rocket gives or something like that. But hey that's just my take on this
I mean exploration is great but it can be better in many diffrent ways. It feel borning bc of limited amount of structures and fact that theres not really anthing intresting abpuy exploration in new updates. Id like to see something like pillager villages or smth like that so exploration is better and l not only 5 yrs old structures
i mean there are some improvements that could be done to exploration, like a overhaul to biome specific structures like the desert temple, or a touch up of the end, and some ideas he brings arent all that bad, minecart my beloved. but a lot of his takes dont make sense
we have the problem with no netherite upgrade templates on our sever because the border is 15k by 15k blocks and its more than 1 netherite block to buy one.
I haven't seen that video in my recommendations "a dozen times" I've however seen videos like YOURS in my recommendations a DOZEN TIMES Jesus christ why do people love painting themselves as saints at any given moment?
Slight correction, you said that elytras have limited quanitity on servers but later said that netherite templates didn't because you can explore more.
@@Zaylic But you can fly into eltyra spawns, and not for templates. the main complaint on servers is world borders and greedy players. do agree on the points, just not those statements added on them.
Minecraft exploration is endless. A seed I had for a town server I had created but not really a proper server cause I'm not that technical cause I'm on ps4. Maybe south or. East. Or north. West?? There is a woodland mansion on a giant tall monolith of cobblestone! Where you can easily see the mansion in the forest below or when you're pulling up in a boat. It was a crazy thing I saw.
I swear I detest players like JetStarfish. "This item isn't something to be used as armor or a weapon?!?!?! Useless!!!!! Decorative blocks????? What's that?"
6:39, lots of multiplayer servers have their worldborders relatively close to 0,0 so all available bastions COULD get fully looted. If u already pointed this out in the video then pls lmk
Remove the ability to add unbreaking or mending to the elytra however add the ability to add prot as compensation while still making it worse for fighting than a chest plate
1. Minecarts are still useful in redstone contraptions. Like they aren't really used for transport which sucks but they have a new niche to fill. And I think that's the problem with horses. I think giving all the horses a 3x3 inventory space and then just having mules and donkeys carry more would give them a little bit of extra utility. Also I really like the idea of llamas being able to only carry one type of item but a very large quantity of them. Like imagine if instead of a llama being able to carry at most 15 stacks of items, they'd be able to carry an entire double chest of like one item. So if you wanted to go build a castle somewhere, you could load up all of your llamas with cobblestone and then go there and you have all of what you need without having to go back and forth or rely on end game items like shulker boxes. 2. The elytra being overpowered is fine, because it's an end game item. Minecraft isn't really built with it in mind, so you never actually feel like you're missing it unless you get it really early and decide to use it as a crutch for a very long time. But if you do want to balance it I would personally just add some flying hostile mobs that only really attack you if you're near them and flying. 3. I don't like the netherite upgrade tablet. I don't like the idea of netherite to begin with, but I especially don't like upgrade tiers being locked behind a specific item that's only function is for crafting one item number one type of item. I generally dislike items that only have one use like a lot of the potion ingredients or rabbit hide.
3:50 actually based on what he said, his suggestion seems like the opposite of what he wants If he wants to encourage long travels, maybe do that the lomger the horse runs, the fast it is
the best way to nerf the elytra is simple give it a niche, if horses have the exploring niche and minecarts have the going place to place niche then give the elytra a quick repositioning and vertical movement niche which all you would have to do it make it less good overtime, personally i would do this by nerfing its durability a bit and maybe add a enchantment that gives you more fine controls with it or makes it so you don't take damage while hitting a wall or the floor and then make that enchantment not be able to go with unbreaking or hell just remove unbreaking from being able to go on it cause it can't actually break, this means on long trips you have to repair it by waiting for phantoms or finding a quick exp source both which could take awhile in some random part of the world far away from your base which makes it better the closer you are to established locations with some infrastructure.
Minecraft is a sandbox game at its heart. This means Mojang will never really want to dictate a certain way to play the game, as it'd isolate a large part of their audience. I think this is also why the gameplay is so "short." The progression of Minecraft is basic for a reason, you're supposed to choose your own pace. You can beat the game in a few hours or you can take it slow or you could just explore the world. The game needs some basic balancing changes, yes, but not to the degree that Jet makes it seem in his original video.
honestly i wish mojang leans into that idea more, what if you can change which structure should spawn and its rarity, maybe even the same with ores, more options would be nice to encourage that mindset, i recently also played a mod which REDUCES the amount of structures that spawn in the world and honestly i had way more fun, of course it wouldent be the same for everyone, so i think tweaking it to your liking is the way to go!
I didnt really agree with jet's take on the ancient city either. The fact he left out enchanted books and swift sneak when talking about loot tables to make it sound more boring was.. a lil odd. Theeen he said he wanted to lock it behind beating the dragon, which is a stupid idea because the whole point of the ancient city is to find it WHILE EXPLORING. I liked the xp thing tho its like the xp tome.
It's literally a game for people of all ages to do and play how they want. Be a farmer. Be a industrialist. Capitalist etc. Just like Lego the limit is your imagination. Basically no need to debate just play the game and have fun at your own pace.

I do think exploration is a bit flawed right now compared to old versions in that... Biome generation is very... Predictable. Thats my only real gripe, its pretty rare to see a desert near a snow biome compared to very old versions. @@StrikerEureka13 yeah I know and I personally think it's an awful change at least in its current state with how easy it is to just get only warm or cold biomes, it's awful for exploration because you CA end up going for thousands of blocks and not find the biome you want
You can never put the blame on mojang making the way minecraft works, because at the end of the day its the player that explores and decides where to life and how to play minecraft. Deciding either to settle somewhere or te constantly keep exploring.
Overall a good video and I agree with most points but I did find that you contradicted yourself a little when it came to the elytra and netherite upgrades. You mention that there would be less elytras to go around on multiplayers worlds at 4:52 to later, when this was brought up in regards to netherite upgrades, say that the nether is plenty big enough and contains enough bastions at 6:32. The end (to my knowledge) is the same size as the over-world so just like you said with the bastions, there would plenty of end cities and plenty of elytra. In addition, you could also trade with other players to obtain an elytra as you could with netherite upgrades like you stated at 6:42. Overall I agree with most of your points though. I like what the mod Valkyrien skies did, adding the ability to build custom airships and boats. That adds the aspect of building to exploration and offers a viable competitor to the elytra while still keeping creativity. Although airships may be too un-vanilla to be added to the game.
*>You mention that there would be less elytras to go around on multiplayers worlds at **4:52** to later, when this was brought up in regards to netherite upgrades, say that the nether is plenty big enough and contains enough bastions at **6:32**.* there's a meaningful distinction between the elytra and template things since you can craft a theoretical infinite amount of templates once you get one, which means people are WAY more likely to be willing to trade a template than an elytra. also bastions are far more common than end ships. although i should have mentioned this in the video though because you are correct that this does look like a contradiction
he's deleting comments that disagree with him. he justifies his argument using a standpoint where minecraft is a sandbox game when the entire point of the topic is the exploration part of the sandbox game. ultimately, he stated his own opinion, nothing more
@@Zaylic That’s a good point, finding an elytra trade would be a bit trickier. I do think that finding a new end city may still be a bit easier since the end is very open though. A 2 block high roof makes getting ender pearls easy so it would be much simpler to traverse the island than navigating through nether terrain. Although they are still very annoying to find so I definitely see your point
I think they nerfed elytras in the Java Combat snapshots. They made it slower (which indirectly made it easier to manuever when gliding) but also changed it so that the durability of elytra only gets reduced when using rockets. Idk.
now that you mentioned, slower but easier to manuever is a great niche for elytra. It would be more useful for reaching high places and less useful for distance traveling.
I have no idea what that uhh "racial slurs" comment was about but it sure is a weird comment. Anyway, minecarts I think should be a bit faster, and we should be able to connect them with chains or something, but that's what I have mods for.
If elytras need a nerf then my solution is add an encumberment system so the more items you carry the harder it is to fly until you cant fly at all. This make elytras more suited to quick travel and surveying the areas or simply getting around base fast but isnt designed for transporting everything or gathering huge amounts of materials. This leaves room for minecarts and horses to be more suited to transporting large amounts of materials (and mobs) for when you find an area you want to start harvesting at. honestly not sure how that would feel in practice but i think its the least offensive way to nerf something that lets them all have something to contribute without removing all the benefits entirely. again on the minecart thing, people always seem to neglect the part where minecarts transport mobs (which boats have been nerfed on) whereas no other form of transportation is capable of doing... so realistically minecarts dont need fixing all that much.
Literally all he needed to say for the elytra was that firework rockets uses a flat amount of durability per usage and that would easily fix the elytra; By having it be so the rockets do a flat amount of durability per usage (say like 2-3 durability per usage), it still allows firework rockets to be used, but it also makes it more of a risk/reward rather than being able to spam firework rockets all the time.
I went into this video expecting to hate it, cause I liked the one to which you’re responding. However, your points were mostly right. I do think changing resource distributions in different biomes is a good, thing it extends the endgame on singleplayer by making outposts and transportation between the main base and these outposts viable, and on multiplayer, it promotes trade between players who built their bases in different biomes. With the horse, I totally agree his solution is annoying AF, but something similar I thought of (having to feed the horse or let it eat grass every thousand blocks or so) could cause a similar feeling without being completely cringe.
So funny thing about resource distributions in biomes (because I also said this)... he flat out lied there, different biomes do have different ore distributions.
I can see the netherite upgrade being a problem in massive multiplayer survival servers, but if you're in a chill private server with your friends, it's just kind of rude to hog netherite upgrade templates and never share.
Nearby bastions getting looted is a true issue. Despite you cab trade can trade, it's still a problem because there is still a chance that you can't buy a template (very player dependent) Another issue is with the old worlds because all looted bastions will have no templates
I have another Idea. The idea is to make other transpo more relevant by nerfing elytra, and buffing the other transport. We should nerf Membrane drop, by remove the mending enchantment and make the dura of elytra twice as fast in overworld and trice as fast in nether. This would force players to use elytra only in dire circumstances(like being chased by players or falling to the void) this would also discouraged players to use elytra in the nether as it's quite op.By minecart I agree what the vid says make minecart faster and make rails cheap. And I want to add another Idea it's by making minecart in nether much faster .And for horse I suggest instead of making horse like what the vid said. What if we put a hunger bar for horse but much more slower than players hunger bar.And for the boat they are okay but I suggest nerf their speed on ice.

There are instances of world that can have all the bastions lootes if the wolrd border is small, which in some SMPs I have seen frequently, so the problem of everything being looted can exist
Odyssey Central brings up a good point for the netherite smithing template multiplayer issue, because it is kind of an issue where if you logged on later than everyone else then its significantly more annoying to get but anyways he proposed that with the option in 1.21 to have vaults in the first place that work once for every single player, itd be nice to see mojang add that functionality to other structures like the bastion remnant or whatever
I think you were definitely right about the elytra but he was right about the horses. it's fine to nerf the horses as long the elytra is also nerfed heavily like making it so that fireworks don't work like you said
That would ruin the elytra and I think that is a terrible idea. Most people can't even get it since most people haven't even beaten the dragon. It is a late game item only acquired by more dedicated players
@@StrikerEureka13 mfw when i don't balance the part of the game only for "dedicated players". you understand there's a lot of people who play the game, so the small fraction of dedicated players is still many many people?
@@logosking2848 That would ruin the game for dedicated players. I took my time and spent hours exploring on horseback. Now it is really nice to just be able to quickly fly to my desired location
@@StrikerEureka13 it would make playing varied playstyles more viable. all nerfs "hurt" the player that is playing them, but overpowered items makes games less fun because it locks you into the one particular playstyle of using that item and makes everything else unfun.
.. but WHY nerf the elytra at all?????? It's an end-game item. It takes a lot of risk to get it, and once you have it all it can do is let you glide. Yeah you can fly with rockets. But guess what? ROCKETS REQUIRE RESOURCES!! The average player is not going to build massive paper and gunpowder farms in order to supply their endless flying needs! To the average player, once they get the elytra (if they even bother at all because a large amount of casual players don't even make it to the end IN THE FIRST PLACE) they are going to use it sparringly, because gunpowder is annoying to obtain organically, and paper takes a while to grow. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO THINKS THIS SHIT IS OP ARE THE ONES THAT RUIN THEIR OWN FUN WITH FARMS. STOP RUINING THIS SHIT FOR EVERYONE ELSE BY CONSTANTLY DEBUFFING AND MAKING SHIT RARER!
"Oooh totems of undying are so abundant we should debuff and make them rarer, rockets are too easy to make, piglins are too op, villagers are too op" How are you obtaining so many. "Oh I built a farm for them" ?????????????????????????????? Where's the issue?????
@@TheLeafcuter rockets require minimal resources. kill creepers for five minutes and mine some sugar cane and your set for days. it should not be that easy
@@Zaylic Depends on how much you use the elytra. I used a whole stack of flight duration 3 rockets to find a Treasure bastion. Luckily I had a creeper farm, but that took hours to make
I believe that the elytra should not be usable with fireworks during flight. Instead, players could still use fireworks to propel themselves into the air for gliding, similar to the mechanics seen in Minecraft Dungeons. Or, it would be great if Minecraft introduced some sort of "lore journals" within the game that provide basic explanations about various aspects like the Nether Portal. These journals could offer guidance without overwhelming players with too much lore, this would allow the lore to still be built by the community and ensure a seamless experience for newcomers. By incorporating this feature, players can better understand the elytra's purpose and benefits, while discouraging excessive boosting during flight without nerfing it so people can still use it as is, but also be given a different way to use it that could be seen as more fun. Also camp fires should be able to boost people using an elytra.
Okay here's my idea to improve minecarts: Take the existing minecart connection code that's been in the game since Alpha v1.0.14, and fix it so the trains are consistent, and make it so furnace minecarts dont randomly lose speed just because they turned a corner And finally make it so furnace minecarts have an interface showing how much coal is inside them rather than accepting one coal and running for 5 minutes The code to make trains is already in the game, people beg and beg to be able to make trains This would make it so cool to make actual train stations and actually make long didtance trains viable without needing to AFK at a zombified piglin farm for hours
yes its a sandbox game so that also means that its not wrong to not want to stay at a base the entire time. i liked exploring in minecraft and it was, alright. but this mod kinda just helps make it exciting. yet again this is an opinion video that doesnt mean its wrong if it doesnt line up with YOUR opinion
While his video has some very cool and interesting suggestions. But the fact that a video was made on Minecraft having an exploration problem, whilst the game essentially doesn't force a playstyle upon you, much less to explore for the sake of it, makes the video sound redundant. As it has been pointed out before. Minecraft isn't an RPG, or an exploration game, it's a sandbox game. As long as it continues to be that, it's not useful to complain about a problem which doesn't even exist, taking into context the game we are talking about in this first place. You made a very good video. Congrats ^^
What do you mean in Netherite's part? Most server's Nether is 5.000x5.000 limit with world bounds, and overworld is 10k-20k. Its pretty much possible to suck all resources from Nether, if you really have intention to do it in like... 6-12 month?
actually the netherite upgrade template is a big problem i own a server and it is definitely an issue and new players are still joining the server (which was made 2 years ago) my solution i did is periodically resetting bastion upgrade template chests once every few months
You are so true bro, except for the "there is no bastion problem" claim. SMPs love to make world borders smaller than they actually are. For example: in my friend's SMP, the world border is only like 4096 blocks and the nether border is even smaller. I think it's like 500 something blocks

This! , the reason i cant explore is the fear of my inventory filling and having to leave behind stuff
It's called a ender chest.

In my opinion as is transportation is fine
Horses are for small distances
Minecarts are for caves
Elytra is fast overworld travel
And nether highways make it so much faster to travel between biome
Nerfing any of theses things would make the game so much more annoying.
2:23
Naw bro.
Horses did not make the Minecart obsolete.
Because minecarts can be used to transport mobs like villagers, all the best using a horse or elytra to transport the villager from village to base for your iron farm or trading hall
Not to mention Redstone farms... Most farms just wouldn't be possible without Hopper Minecarts.
100%. My base is somewhat far inland from the shore so I wouldn't have been able to get villagers to it without minecarts.
Because Minecraft doesn't know what unloading is, everything is saved and processed at once.
Do you play on a toaster? In what world a 1GB save size is a problem?
And nerfing the elytra would be doing the same thing.
that’s true, there wouldn’t be a need to nerf the elytra if other forms of transport were better
I’d love to have more fun minecarts cuz I like building roller coasters with them?
They should be faster but limited to the resources you need to craft them.
Also add copper to the construction.
and minecarts should be faster. They are a bit slow
Also, somewhat unrelated to what I was saying but I wanted to point this out:
"Make the elytra 3x rarer!"
"The netherite upgrade template is too rare for multiplayer!"
Yeah, his idea for the elytra is definitely half-baked, and even that's being a bit generous lol. Multiplayer severs are still all going to have fully geared players, no mater how rare the gear is. I do think the netherite upgrade is kind of a bad item but that's a different issue.
based and truth pilled
they basically said "what's multiplayer" and "multiplayer matters" in the same video
Honestly I feel like a fix that makes sense for the elytra is to just at more stuff to the sky that make fly long distance a bit more difficult, not making it impossible to fly long distances but just making flying more of a required skill. I don't know if that makes any sense.
Idea: elytra slower that it
they shouldn't nerf elytras, they should buff minecarts
5:05 that would mean going back to 1.9 elytra when you couldnt use fireworks, it was nothing else but a pretty useless curiosity, that would be the worst possible way of nerfing the elytra
The horse stamina thing could be much better if u could give them food to regenerate it
6:40 I agree with most ur points but most servers I've been on in the past while all have had worldborders to keep players closer together and to prevent lag, also on a server that has a lot of ppl who like kinda the drama/pvp side of things, no one wants to give you an advantage.

@@Zaylic oh lol, thanks. :)

I actually don't hate the horse stamina bar idea, I'm on board with letting my lil buddy rest a bit while exploring
Also I didn't know the elytra was a problem since I never use those lol
6:12 actually he is somewhat correct here because on really large servers such as 2b2t you would have to travel millions of blocks just to find a bastion that hasn't been raided. Also on one of these servers (especially pvp servers) players who have obtained these are unlikely to give them up and will instead attempt to destroy all of them so that they can create a monopoly.
2b2t has been active for 12 years bro. its an exception
To summarize I think there are more uses for any particular thing than any one person can recognize and that's why useless is a word I save only for people 😂
Honestly if you don't focus on it, everything's fine and good.

The only problem with exploration is that theres nothing to see other than terrain and a few structures
I generally dislike items that only have one use like a lot of the potion ingredients or rabbit hide.
elytras aren't a problem 😂
this video is actually like a really good watch lol, I'm subbing!
3:50 actually based on what he said, his suggestion seems like the opposite of what he wants
If he wants to encourage long travels, maybe do that the lomger the horse runs, the fast it is
the best way to nerf the elytra is simple
give it a niche, if horses have the exploring niche and minecarts have the going place to place niche then give the elytra a quick repositioning and vertical movement niche which all you would have to do it make it less good overtime, personally i would do this by nerfing its durability a bit and maybe add a enchantment that gives you more fine controls with it or makes it so you don't take damage while hitting a wall or the floor and then make that enchantment not be able to go with unbreaking or hell just remove unbreaking from being able to go on it cause it can't actually break, this means on long trips you have to repair it by waiting for phantoms or finding a quick exp source both which could take awhile in some random part of the world far away from your base which makes it better the closer you are to established locations with some infrastructure.

I don't think we need to nerf elytra
It is end game item and it is fine. People complain about elytra being too op when they do best strat to progress to get that end game item @-@. That is weird. I don't know how to explain it cuz i'm not good at English but i think u guys know what i mean.

I do think exploration is a bit flawed right now compared to old versions in that... Biome generation is very... Predictable. Thats my only real gripe, its pretty rare to see a desert near a snow biome compared to very old versions.
I played with a friend once and legitimately an area of 5k by 5k blocks around spawn were warm biomes ONLY.
That's because they added temperatures to bones and biomes only spawn next to biomes with similar temperatures. I like the change tbh

Deciding either to settle somewhere or te constantly keep exploring.
you can lead a horse to exploring, but you cant make it explore
Nah you can definitely blame mohang for not giving enough reason to explore.
*>You mention that there would be less elytras to go around on multiplayers worlds at **4:52** to later, when this was brought up in regards to netherite upgrades, say that the nether is plenty big enough and contains enough bastions at **6:32**.*
there's a meaningful distinction between the elytra and template things since you can craft a theoretical infinite amount of templates once you get one, which means people are WAY more likely to be willing to trade a template than an elytra. also bastions are far more common than end ships. although i should have mentioned this in the video though because you are correct that this does look like a contradiction

simple fix> make Minecarts faster than horses(leave horses as be) and rails cheaper. and nerf elytra
Get 32 rails instead of 16 might be enough for me to use them.
Yeah but the faster minecarts can mess with redstone
camman18 alt account
I have no idea what that uhh "racial slurs" comment was about but it sure is a weird comment.
Anyway, minecarts I think should be a bit faster, and we should be able to connect them with chains or something, but that's what I have mods for.
Elytra doesn’t need a nerf learn now and learn it fast with the amount of work you have to put in it’s perfect
Literally all he needed to say for the elytra was that firework rockets uses a flat amount of durability per usage and that would easily fix the elytra;
By having it be so the rockets do a flat amount of durability per usage (say like 2-3 durability per usage), it still allows firework rockets to be used, but it also makes it more of a risk/reward rather than being able to spam firework rockets all the time.

Despite you cab trade can trade, it's still a problem because there is still a chance that you can't buy a template (very player dependent)
Another issue is with the old worlds because all looted bastions will have no templates
All we need is a rocket cooldown of like 8-10 secs on the elytra.
that would be good too
I have another Idea.
@@n4mele_c3r63forcing players? in a sandbox game where even in survival, their own world, they feel like a God? it's always players like you who ruin fun for other people, who actually enjoy Minecraft for what it is
@@n4mele_c3r63here is a simple solution. If you don't like using mending, elytra, membranes, fireworks, don't. Others don't too? don't use it. problem solved
You are wasting a ton of rockets if you use them quicker than that, that solves nothing except making the elytra suck at escaping holes
There are instances of world that can have all the bastions lootes if the wolrd border is small, which in some SMPs I have seen frequently, so the problem of everything being looted can exist
Odyssey Central brings up a good point for the netherite smithing template multiplayer issue, because it is kind of an issue where if you logged on later than everyone else then its significantly more annoying to get but anyways
he proposed that with the option in 1.21 to have vaults in the first place that work once for every single player, itd be nice to see mojang add that functionality to other structures like the bastion remnant or whatever

I appreciate your video especially in how you are bringing up points that other people might not have brought up before.
@@logosking2848 But that would only hurt dedicated players

@@TheLeafcuter rockets require minimal resources. kill creepers for five minutes and mine some sugar cane and your set for days. it should not be that easy
@@TheLeafcuter you don’t need a farm for rockets or totems to have an over abundance of them, that’s literally the problem
Okay here's my idea to improve minecarts:
Take the existing minecart connection code that's been in the game since Alpha v1.0.14, and fix it so the trains are consistent, and make it so furnace minecarts dont randomly lose speed just because they turned a corner
And finally make it so furnace minecarts have an interface showing how much coal is inside them rather than accepting one coal and running for 5 minutes
The code to make trains is already in the game, people beg and beg to be able to make trains
This would make it so cool to make actual train stations and actually make long didtance trains viable without needing to AFK at a zombified piglin farm for hours
Adding the 1.18 elytra changes would help
what were the 1.18 elytra changes ?
@@Zaylic basically nerfing the rockets and elytra only takes damage from using rockets and not gliding

Minecraft survival isn't sandbox

6-12 month?

Make it a crafting recipe
