For some reason it was not until I watched it a second time that my brain realized that "Will Hurt" is his name, and is a spoof on "Max Payne" and then they just riff on actual book naming schemes..
Just starting with the intro bit, I *love* that it outright states in the title card that it's an episode written by Alan Wake, and Door calls it a "Cult Classic". We've known from way back when that Alan *did canonically write* for Night Springs before his writer's block. This may well have been an episode he wrote in the past, which echoes down in the present. I love this stuff. Also: Those character names in the subtitles are great. "Guy Who Only Eats Burgers" deserves a hug.
59:58 When we saw the book about being an alpha in his house written by TJ WOLF, I said to myself "what if it's referring to being a werewolf instead of an alpha male since the author's last name is Wolf" I did not expect him to actually be a werewolf oh my god
It made me come up with a theory that like... *everything* is born out of Alan Wake's attempts to escape. He never gets out. But either intentionally or unintentionally, all his innumerable attempts over seemingly millenia of maddening aeons in the Dark Place led to him creating the multiverse. That's why all attempts by Shawn lead right back to Alan Wake at his typewriter.
The lore implications of Time Breaker are so mind boggling. All I know for certain is that Quantum Break was definitely supposed to be a prequel to Control
when I tell you I saw this video and GASPED... both Jesse and Remedy comin thru. this was amazing. I wish so creatives would get weird more often as Remedy has been doing. plus, I feel like it's interesting how things like the MCU can cause folks to be so fatigued at the word "multiverse", whereas in this, I'm actually excited by it
Just here to say that the “Time Breaker” episode has MULTIPLE ROUTES in the text adventure section. They all END the same, but in total, there’s like 4-6 different routes with VERY interesting info (ex. One route is waging war on Door alongside Jesse and alternate Tims, one is a “let me forget this ever happened” route, etc.)
I don't know why but that moment gives me a weird happy feeling (I played Death Rally back in the day with my brother against each other over and over but at this moment the nostalgia is not the reason).
I didn't notice till rewatching this, but in Time Breaker every shift shows a symbol on the screen - symbols for each different reality. Also Tim Breaker's jacket patch changes in every shift to be the shape of the reality he is in. Presumably these also relate to the doors in the Oceanview Motel.
Choosing to follow the red haired woman can lead you to Lisa who is a dancer. She wears a spiral charm on a necklace, she doesn't remember you. You end up with her. Sean keeps acting but stays away from making games, he throws away his multiverseral tools in different ways you can choose. Lisa hurts her ankle. She either cancels her big show or doesn't. If she cancels, you take a vacation in Washington renting a cabin. She has dreams about the multiverse every night. If you tell her it's real, she finds the tools in the cabin where they were not stored, and jumps into the multiverse. In another branch the world tree in the desert grows into a concrete building. An agent named Jessbeth runs the building
This 100% reads like any lore-heavy tv-series which has been going on for 60+ seasons and has only just found mainstream appeal so the people who have been watching for the past years try to explain the plot to people who just found the series. Explaining things that happened with terms only long-term viewers would understand. That or a very severe fever dream.
He's played it on his own so I don't think we'll get a playthrough *but* I would love watching him play it with everything he knows about the remedyverse xD
I would watch someone else who did a lp or a vod of their stream of it. I remember watching someone play it when it came out and it didn’t seem that interesting. Also I believe there was a show that when along with quantum break.
37:00 anyone else think Joe Bullets seems a lot like Vinnie Gognitti from Max Payne? I'm probably just trying to make connections that aren't there but they both seemed the weasley type.
3:27 "Who else wants a top up?" **Lady With Seven Corgis**: "Me!" ^ I have never been so jealous of a fictional character based entirely on their caption description.
In the "Torture Ideas for Hack Brother", I had to pause the video because I just finished a rewatch of the Venture Bros Season 5 finale not too long ago, and I was laughing so hard from giggling.
19:00 If you zoom in on the grill, you will see a literally hamburger in a bun sitting on the grill. Which means one of the customers (probably Guy Who Only Eats Burgers) likes to have his burger with a burned bottom.
At 0:21, YES ! I've been waiting to see Jesse's reaction !!! He has the best laugh. It always cheers me up and I love seeing Jesse work out the lore in these games.
If anyone wants to know more but does not want to watch someone play it, I really recommend the podcast Lore Dump, they talk about the entire remedy verse
4:45 I too, spend my days at boring work delusion myself into another world. Jesse, you are the best waitress. X) 9:15 Elbow patches? So instead of divorced gym teacher you can look like a divorced english teacher. I need to paus and go look up who sings that song, sounds familiare. I trust Jesse to understand me on this. X)
Is Time Breaker a semi-public admission that Remedy is making a Quantum Break sequel? Sam says it's nice to have Shawn back, and that they are making a second game, with FMV, like the last game. Quantum Breaker was partially live action. Also remember how Joyce promised Beth he'd be back for her at the end of Quantum Break? 3:01:36
Come on, the heros tango in the hotel if from Control and the lyrics directly reference both Alan Wake and Quantum Break but Jesse is busy looking at arm patches.
So there's one Door, the one constant throughout existence. We see other versions of everyone else .... except Saga? Also, the "Master of Many Worlds" thing being Alan makes more sense if you played New Game+ for AW2
Mr door is an alternate version of the same character as mr hatch from quantum break, who was played by the same actor as Zavala, lance reddick. Aqua however is a completely different actress, the sibling is Courtney hope
yes.. North Sea meet the Atlantic Ocean meet the Norwegian Sea meet the Arctic Ocean. How cool is that.😂 "uh, i already told you that, in the boatyard" I Love that they did that !! Ok i Love this DLC, it was nice doing some Faden time, but the lat one. Holy smokes (kind of feel like Control 2 build up). Love you are a true lore nerd, i missed so many references manly for newer play AW or Quantum break. Remedy though, playing the REAL long game.
All of these episodes are escape attempts by Alan, they aren't real stories, just echoes of them, for example the North Star episode seems similar to the story of Control, that's because Alan saw visions of Control, but they were incomplete so he filled in the gaps, that's also why Jesse doesn't have her powers, same thing with Time Breaker, it's similar to Quantum Break, but not very accurate.
The actor who plays Mr Door is fantastic, and he's got a great singing voice too.
Its the CW Martian the Manhunter.
I reeeeeally hope they get him as Zeus in Percy Jackson
Feel like "Night Springs" song is worth the price alone. lol
Definetely... that song instantly planted itself in my head and is here to stay for weeks now. Remedy is just amazing with the music in their games.
For some reason it was not until I watched it a second time that my brain realized that "Will Hurt" is his name, and is a spoof on "Max Payne" and then they just riff on actual book naming schemes..
I've waited for this and was not disappointed - Jesse got paid - we got paid in Remedy-verse nonsense I'm all for it!
Just starting with the intro bit, I *love* that it outright states in the title card that it's an episode written by Alan Wake, and Door calls it a "Cult Classic". My motorcycle is also a werewolf
This DLC was kinda short, but like…. I love it. Remedy going full weird is always worthwhile.
It made me come up with a theory that like... *everything* is born out of Alan Wake's attempts to escape. He never gets out. But either intentionally or unintentionally, all his innumerable attempts over seemingly millenia of maddening aeons in the Dark Place led to him creating the multiverse. "My cult would be a hot chocolate cult"
Have you abandoned the Space Butterfly Jesse?!

Jesse's Death Rally realisation at 2:49:58 was **chef's kiss**
I don't know why but that moment gives me a weird happy feeling (I played Death Rally back in the day with my brother against each other over and over but at this moment the nostalgia is not the reason).
The master of many worlds is what Alan calls himself in the extended ending for NG+
How far down the rabbit hole are we?
Remedy studios "yes"
[Picture of spiral] you are here
Will Hurt. Hurt. Pain. Payne. Max Payne.
Choosing to follow the red haired woman can lead you to Lisa who is a dancer. She wears a spiral charm on a necklace, she doesn't remember you. You end up with her. @@Mazzeltoph That's exactly what the Remedy Connected Universe is like. And I love it.
Wakey wakey Alan Bakey
Still waiting on Jesse to start playing Quantum Break to help me catch up with the Remedy Verse lmaooo
He's played it on his own so I don't think we'll get a playthrough *but* I would love watching him play it with everything he knows about the remedyverse xD
@Force2reckonVods oof, well at least I bought it recently. Gotta go through Alan Wake first tho, then Quatum Break after.
I would watch someone else who did a lp or a vod of their stream of it. I remember watching someone play it when it came out and it didn’t seem that interesting. Also I believe there was a show that when along with quantum break.
good job Jesse, you did it!
I feared that Jesse would pick up the book immediately and then wouldn't be able to read the rest of them, well I clearly didn't have to :D
There's something I really love about Remedy's games dealing with some deeply serious and disturbing topics but also having a wacky sense of humor.
"Look up Death Rally" was such a funny moment
Same Lake wrote the script where Same Lake, played by Sam Lake is making fun of Sam Lake, the person who wrote the script...
Yupp, I love this
Faden needing to reload a gun feels wrong
This is exactly what I was hoping for Jesse's reaction to the DLC. I love our lore nerd.
Am I the only one who hears the Hiss sounds coming from the TV's in Timebreaker!?
I was so hyped to watch Jesse play this and I was not disappointed. Jesse and the Remedy-verse is just perfection!
37:00 anyone else think Joe Bullets seems a lot like Vinnie Gognitti from Max Payne? I'm probably just trying to make connections that aren't there but they both seemed the weasley type.
11:12 - the way she closed that door
I've been waiting for Jesse's playthrough of the DLC!
A clue that all of these episodes are being written by Alan in the Dark Place: all three end with Alan in his writing room.
2:46:00 DEATH RALLY POSTER!!! Remedy’s first game.
Gas in his veins, overtaking straight to Hell.
I love Sam Lake’s brain
3 and a half minutes in and I already love this 😂
Hecking epic, I've been looking forward to this because I knew Jesse would find so much joy in these stories ❤
I have been dying for thissss
I still think about if Lance Reddick was still with us and if he had gotten to play Mr. Door
David Harewood is fantastic ofc don't get me wrong
The other text adventure options are definitely worth playing or watching, yes.
FYI: You can find Death Rally arcade cabinets in Alan Wake 2, and IIRC also in American Nightmare.
I've been waiting for this
I really hope there's a Threshold Kids episode in the Jesse section.
3:27
"Who else wants a top up?"
**Lady With Seven Corgis**: "Me!"
^ I have never been so jealous of a fictional character based entirely on their caption description.
the patch on his jacket goes from triangle to hexagon to circle. i think the less sides it has, the closer he is to the source.
i'm a little late to the party but i think that intro was meant to ape on the Twilight Zone show from the 60s when my dad was young
In the "Torture Ideas for Hack Brother", I had to pause the video because I just finished a rewatch of the Venture Bros Season 5 finale not too long ago, and I was laughing so hard from giggling.

19:02 I did not expect this. But. You go, Gurl! Slay! I guess?!
I think the werewolf was when I realized this DLC wasn't taking itself seriously.
OMG I’ve been checking your channels every day for this. I’m so mad I have to wait until I get home from work lol
Alan Wake - Champion of Light and Champion of Lit.
Fluffernutter = Peanut Butter and "Fluff" which is basically just marshmallow.
If anyone wants to know more but does not want to watch someone play it, I really recommend the podcast Lore Dump, they talk about the entire remedy verse
Spoiler ish
I was thinking it would be funny if it turned out Shawn wasn't the chosen one but it was actually his twin brother Aaron
Oh my god...i am LOVING this interconnected remedy verse
4:45 I too, spend my days at boring work delusion myself into another world.
Jesse, you are the best waitress. X)
9:15 Elbow patches? So instead of divorced gym teacher you can look like a divorced english teacher.

This was so great.
2:52:30 Notice the shape of the power nodes? Might they look a little... polyhedron? Poly... Hedron?
Ngl, I actually got a little befuddled when Jesse didn’t see that “Love Will Hurt” was clickable
Come on, the heros tango in the hotel if from Control and the lyrics directly reference both Alan Wake and Quantum Break but Jesse is busy looking at arm patches.
12:28 We all know who would win a beat poetry contest at Nite's Diner.
Langston.
YES, I'VE BEEN WAITING
Claps for Jesse
Some of this has big vibes of the Animatrix "Detective Story" 💖
I think the notes in (the Sibling) change places depending on what order you find them. The stash notes do that too. "Ill come back for them"
That was so much fun holy shit
So there's one Door, the one constant throughout existence. We see other versions of everyone else .... except Saga? Also, the "Master of Many Worlds" thing being Alan makes more sense if you played New Game+ for AW2
The only thing separating the chosen tim from the time breakers is a gun. They all have pipes.
And a flashlight
I have never thought I would feel a fight or flight responds from a game, but the opening of this game... Oof
1:28:18 Percolation. Perkele.
Dear God - Ahti is in charge of Coffee World!
More Jesse, yay!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Good job. You did it.
Remedy is GOAT. Please the rest of gamers....PLEASE understand that and play their games.
What a fantastic DLC
Let's go!!!
Fluffer-nutter is indeed a thing
More popular in Ordinary than Night Springs though. They were huge growing up in New England
I wonder if the singing bass is the same one from the Dead Letters in CONTROL?
Rose in a rose colored world.
1995 also known as the year Remedy was founded
FoR tHe AlGoRiThM
This feels like the Alan Wake version of Welcome to Nightvale
The alawakening continues
I love this.
isn't Mr Door the guy who died he also voiced the vanguard leader from destiny. Also isn't the VA for The Sibling also voiced Aqua from KH BBS?
Mr door is an alternate version of the same character as mr hatch from quantum break, who was played by the same actor as Zavala, lance reddick. Aqua however is a completely different actress, the sibling is Courtney hope
Did Jesse ever play the New Game+ mode? Does he know that they put in a new ending with it?
Hey Jesse, you should do a playthrough of Quantum Break to complete the set.
YES.
yes.. North Sea meet the Atlantic Ocean meet the Norwegian Sea meet the Arctic Ocean. How cool is that.😂
"uh, i already told you that, in the boatyard" I Love that they did that !! Ok i Love this DLC, it was nice doing some Faden time, but the lat one. Holy smokes (kind of feel like Control 2 build up). Love you are a true lore nerd, i missed so many references manly for newer play AW or Quantum break. Remedy though, playing the REAL long game.
Fuck Epic. Hey Jesse.
I just finished this on Twitch!
Is Jesse's playthrough of Alan Wake 1 on RUclips?
Is the "Join Us" sign at ruclips.net/video/Nu5EdG_UF44/видео.html a reference to the Board from control?
ITS NOT A CIRCLE! IT'S A SPIRAL! ITS A SPIRAL!
YOU ARE A BEAN THROUGH TIME!
Number One Fan is a masterpiece.
So correct me if i´m wrong here. Jesse kinda love Remedy games huh? 😂 -Edit here, guess there is somthing to talk about in this week of Geekenders!-
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Did she lose her powers or is she only able to access them in the Oldest House or something?
All of these episodes are escape attempts by Alan, they aren't real stories, just echoes of them, for example the North Star episode seems similar to the story of Control, that's because Alan saw visions of Control, but they were incomplete so he filled in the gaps, that's also why Jesse doesn't have her powers, same thing with Time Breaker, it's similar to Quantum Break, but not very accurate.
